I know some people that smoke marijuana in a closed up room. Windows and doors. I have been explaining the effects that marijuana does to a child and get arguments and told I don't know what I'm talking about. I am 48 and have 4 kids and have used my experience with this couple. I can't get it thru their heads it messes with a child's brain. How do I get this thru their heads?

The yellow that you see is the nicotine. If you smoke cigarettes regularly in or near your bathroom, and then you shower and the wet steam gets on your walls, the walls will have dark orange drips all over them from nicotine.

The fact that you didn't notice any issues with your lungs from smoking pot, is not proof that pot smoke does not damage the lungs. If you were to continue smoking it regularly then you would begin to have issues with your lungs. Many long term, regular pot smokers develop smoker's cough, shortness of breath or wheezing. Pot smoke does not cause cancer because it kills lung cells and dead cells cannot become cancerous. Cigarette smoke injures lung cells, and those injured cells CAN become cancerous. The thing is, even though smoking pot can't give you cancer, it most definitely can give you emphysema. That is a painful death. Pot does have more tar, especially since it isn't smoked through a filter like a cigarette. Ever notice how much resin you see in a pipe? Or how a joint becomes stained with dark brown? Resin consists mainly of tar. Yet, it isn't just tar that damages a person's lungs. With cigarettes, there are around 200 chemicals present, any many of them cause lung damage. People rarely smoke 20 joints a day, but it is quite common for a cigarette smoker to consume 20 or more cigarettes per day. Quantity has a great deal to do with the amount of tar and chemicals that someone gets. The fact that cigarette smoking is worse for you is not a good argument for pot being harmless. Pot is not harmless. But when it is actually used medicinally, the cannabinoids have a healing effect. Science has found that when they use a strain of pot that is virtually THC free but still contains the cannabinoids, they can actually heal parts of the brain. Children who suffer from severe epilepsy and other convulsive disorders have eliminated or nearly eliminated seizure activity and had the damage in their brains healed!! Many of these kids had no quality of life before marijuana treatment, and many of them now do.

I am 25 years old. I was raised in a pot smoking household. I actually started smoking marijuana at a young age. I was always at the top of my classes. Always getting good grades and excelling in anything I attempted. I was pulled out of school in 7th grade because of a sexual misconduct issue that involved the school music teacher. We decided to go with homeschooling then. Did all of the work to get my diploma... The paperwork was not filled out or filled properly (I'm not exactly sure). So, my brother an myself had to go back through all the grades after already learning the basics of the high school curriculum. I was given options to attend special classes for more intelligent children. I was able to go to a vocational trade school half time and the other half in a regular high school. I took many classes... Medical professional careers, pre-vet technician, academy of finance (being a bank teller and balancing businesses checkbooks and whatnot), culinary arts, and finally Environmental Science. And I graduated all of these classes while attending high school! At the top of my classes! With extra credentials and awards! I smoke marijuana every day. It is part of my lifestyle. Some people smoke cigarettes, some people drink alcohol, some people eat food, some people go shopping and spend money on materialistic things, some people focus on what they wear or how their makeup looks, some people play video games, or eat for or listen to music constantly. Everyone has their vice. I choose marijuana. I use it to treat seizures, anorexia, insomnia, anxiety, and pain... Beyond the fact that it is a daily habit for me. I do actually use it to treat things. Even if i did not have anything wrong with me, I would still smoke everyday. It is just part of my lifestyle. I have a 2 year old little girl. And I will tell you this... I smoked pot when I was pregnant with her. I would have done it regardless. But, I was diagnosed with cancer when I was pregnant. I was advised to abort the child or even give her up for adoption when I refused treatment. I said no! I refused chemo treatments and smoked CBD oil like it was going out of style. My baby was born perfectly healthy. She was in the wrong position and I had an emergency c-section... But, she was perfectly healthy. I smoke around my daughter. It is our medicine. At the age of 2 she is conginitvely aware enough to understand that it is our medicine and she cannot have it. Just like we drink beer or alcohol around her sometimes and she cannot have it. I don't let her sit next to us or in the smoke. And I usually ask her to go do something else for a moment so I can smoke (yes, I ask my daughter to 'go play somewhere else or get some toys out of your room so mommy can smoke please'... And she says okay and does it). I will homeschool my daughter. Every person who has met her (from ER doctors, dentists, DSHS people, WIC staff, to random people in the stores and in public and friends and their families) have made comments on how intelligent she is and how conginitvely aware of her surrounding and environment she is. And they usually ask me for parenting advice or to bring their children over to play so they can learn from her. I usually tell people that my daughter is the way she is because I treat her like a person and not like a dependent child. I encourage her to be independent and solve problems on her own. I do not hide my marijuana use from her in any way. She has seen me smoke joints, smoke out of pipes and bongs, take dabs, knife hits. She has seen us clean our glass pieces and break them as well. She asks questions like... What's that? Why did you do that? Can I help? Is that for medicine? But, she also is inquisitive in all aspect of life and asks questions about everything and anything. I encourage her to think about what, why, where, when, and how? I just do not see any reason to hide my marijuana use from my child. It was never hidden from me as a child and I am pretty much normal. Lol... I have PTSD, Manic Depression and anxiety attacks sometimes. But, as I get older those issues become of less concern. I don't take medicine for my PTSD or manic depression. I haven't taken medicine for years. I recently had the doctor prescribe me anxiety pills to take at the onsetof an attack. But, I realised that anxiety was being caused by someone in my life that was very negative and passive aggressive. I have since removed them from my life and have no issue with anxiety since.
I am rambling a bit... But back to the topic at hand. I see absolutely no problem with smoking marijuana around my child as long as I am not 'hot-boxing' her in a closed space with no ventilation.

I also wanted to note that we are a very active family.when it is not storming outside... I try to walk at least 2 miles a day with my daughter. Yes... She is only 2. But, she is fully capable because I do not coddle her at every whine and whimper. We sing and dance all the time. I try to always have music on. Except for when we have silent time. Where we turn off all the electronics in the house and just cuddle on the couch for 20-30 minutes. Sometimes we take a nap. Being a daily pot smoker does not mean you are lazy or dumb. It only takes one broken light to dim an entire room.

You are a dumbass, I have seen people from every walk of life smoke marijuana including surgeons, doctors, and people who make more than 500k a yr. And not from a povery stricken family. Meth is the cheapest n most used poverty stricken drug.

You are as ignorant as they come. There is NOTHING dangerous about smoking marijuana. It does not cause cancer ( it actually helps build cancer fighting cells) unlike the dumbass states above and it does not contain anything addictive. Get your facts straight before you believe everything on the Internet. However after stating this I agree that smoking around babies or children is a no no but there's nothing in it that will hurt them if they happen to be around it. Unless they are actually allergic to it. So check your facts before popping off about what someone else chooses to do.

What I have noticed is that smoking pot makes people "think wrong". There was a post on a family members face book saying how "stoners can be successful." This particular family member is a high school drop out, can't keep a job, and has crashed 3 cars in 2 years. WOW....you see they have impaired their reality. How is he successful in any way. I found him smoking pot around my Granddaughter....and went crazy. I told him If I see it again, I will call the law.
