Kev, I googled the issue and this was the first thing I'd read about it. I'm sitting here drinking from a Brita water bottle with a filter and I have the same issue! That's weird..

I have the same issue, I didn't have this until after I stopped antibiotics, and before that I did have occasional itching, but no burning until the antibiotic was finished. It was one for an ear infection that killed all of the bacteria (good and bad), I'm thinking that could be the problem. I'm following some suggestions on a health site. Drinking a lot of water have Preparation H wipes and cream, it gives it some relief. We have Brita too, but have had it for 6 years and never had that problem before, so don't think that is it; another suggestion from the site is that if you have a hard time going to get a stool softener (not one that gives you cramps!), to help you go without the additional pain. That has helped a lot! I also have vaseline that I put and that helps as well.

I have had this same thing for over a year now. When I have sex with my husband, nothing happens after sex, everything is normal. But when my husband is away on business, I have sex with Big Joe next door. He is a 29 year old black man with a very huge penis. This is when I get the tearing on my Perineum. WE have tried several lubricants but I am always in pain after me and Big Joe have intercourse. I am very careful not to let Big Joe penetrate me more than 8 inches and he is always slow and gentle. Does anyone out there know how I can treat these tears so that when my husband returns home, and wants sex, I can be comfortable with him doing his thing to me? I would never stop letting Big Joe please me because when he does, it feels so good. Please advise me with your help.Thank you.Peggy

i just read your post.and had same simtons when using wipes.but I found rincing them in cold water got the chemical out .and did not make me sore.as wipes cleans you better as toilet paper can make you sore.im amazaed at so many people having the anus /and vagina.itcth then get very sore but doctors don't seem to think its a problem.so try rinseing wipes in water and they still do the job witout the chemical

I've started using makeup wipes instead of cottonelle, then cleaning with plain water and patting dry...works like a charm. Itch gone completely!

Dickinson's Witch Hazel cleansing pads resolved the irritation and serve as a great replacement

I tried everything. Various creams, diet changes. Vaseline solved the problem in about 3 days. One other trick that I used on alternate days: making a wad of toilet paper and pressing it, just into the anus, not too far, but holding it with your but. It stays there on its own once you stand up and walk around, for many hours. I think this dried out the anus and prevented much of whatever the parasite was trying to do. But, the main antidote was definitely the vaseline, on the perineum, inside the ring of the anus, around the anus, and above the anus, in the 'crack' going up to the back. The tingling is gone, the itching is 90% gone. I think it's just healing now so the itching is very minor.

My theory on this parasite and its behaviour:
-parasite
-creeps/crawls out (tingling)
-feeds on anal tissue (irritation, minor bleeding)
-vaseline: stops them from crawling, stops the feeding, slows them down, starves them, provides symptom relief from itching, allows time for healing

Best of luck!

This might seem a little extreme to some of you, but in searching for a solution to this problem I found a cheap and effective way to solve it.. a pure plugs small plug. The nJoy ones cost a small fortune, but the copies cost me just £16 and do the same job, - a lot more pleasant than using your finger or having to stuff paper/cotton up there manually! I usually find when it is itching badly that if you insert the plug and pull it straight out again you will clean the passageway very quickly. If the itching still persists, leave it in for a while with some lubrication on it and you'll have an itch free day.
