I have this too.. it is a stinging rather than a tingling and comes and goes throughout the day just behind the left shoulder blade. I do think it is parasite related, maybe larva migrans from what I've read. YUK!
I have had this issue for years. The tingling always occurs in the same place. Funny thing happened tonight. Since early January I have been on an extremely healthy diet. I have eliminated everything but raw fruits and vegetables trying to find a cure for arthritis pain, fatigue and brain fog. I have never had a weight problem, but the extremely healthy diet I have followed has resulted in a nine pound weight loss and I have had great success on all fronts, feeling energetic, clearheaded, more optimistic and having a great feeling stomach. I have now started slowly reintroducing other foods back into my diet, checking for food allergies that may be causing inflammation as I add back potential problem foods. Tonight I ate a sizeable amount of wheatberries, along with some yogurt and fruit in order to check on wheat allergies. The weird tingling came back like crazy about 2 hours after I ate the wheatberries, in addition to stomach upset and head pains. I can't remember the last time I felt the tingling, but I am now wondering if it is related to long term inflammation and allergies. I am going to eliminate the wheat for a few more days and then add it back again to recreate the experiment. After detoxing my body for weeks it is easier to feel the impact of food allergies. I have tried unsuccessfully to identify the tingling problem for years and had given up on finding an answer. I may be on to something, will post again after I test this theory for a second time.
Hi Guys.
As Glen said on the last page, it is definitely due to poor posture/weakened back muscles.
I have been experiencing the same exact symptoms as most people in this thread. It started about 2 months ago.
I work in IT and sit at a computer for most of the day.
But! I just returned from a 2 week holiday in Thailand and I was amazed that my periodic tingling sensation in back disappeared the day i left.
After 4-5 days of site seeing & relaxing I went to use the Internet cafe in the hotel and in no less than 2 minutes after I sat down and started browsing it came right back. It was actually quite a relief as I finally felt like I was cracking down on what was causing this.
The tingling was on and off for the rest of the night but for the rest of my trip it was completely gone!
It's my first day back at work and sure enough my spot is tingling right now.
I will take the great advice I have received from this thread and work on correcting my posture, exercising and strengthening the specific muscles. I will report back if I get any positive results
I have the same feeling in my back its just below my shoulder blade to the right hand side of my spine, the tingling sensation has only recently started and can happen at any time no matter what im doing but also i am experiencing a lot of pain in the same are and it feels like my muscle is contracting and not releasing when i do day to day activities such as mopping and sweeping or even just playing with my little boy, my doctor has sent me to a physio as he thinks its muscle related fingers crossed
i have the tingling all the time mid way on the left side of my back. it is like bugs in there. nice to see i am not alone. i do have ankolosling spondalitis (spelling wrong) since the 90s. wondering if this may be related to my symptoms? it always seems the Dr's have nospecific dignoisis. i am very frustrated that there are no answers to what this nerve, tingling, bug like monster on my back is cause it's driving me crazy.
I too have this numb tingling sensation in my upper back, along bra strap line and it comes and goes but feels really weird. I have just recently had weightloss surgery and I have also had one hernia repair and I am awaiting an operation for another hernia I have too. My muscles are very week and I am wondering if this has something to do with weakened muscles in the back maybe as someone mentioned. I think it could possibly be a culmination of things really and without doing tests etc I wouldnt take a doctors diagnosis as 100% unless tests been done. It seems to be a common issue though.
For most of you this is caused by muscle tension (due to bad posture and muscle imbalances) which then leads to trigger points/ knots which chronically irritate the nerves. Remember that in order to give sensation to the skin, the nerves must traverse the muscles to get to the skin. If the muscle is tight and knotted all the time, the nerves will be tight and knotted and won't work properly. I would forget about going down the parasite route. Also it is pretty unlikely to be caused by some disease. Neuropathies and other nerve diseases usually cause other more serious problems elsewhere rather than staying in one place and also usually start in the hands and feet. If your symptoms clear up/ improve by changing body position then you certainly have a scope to rid yourself of this problem.
I have had this issue on and off since I was about 15 years old. I'm now 23. Apart from having Meralagia Paresthetica on my left thigh, I am extremely strong and quite fit and the only issue doctors have identified is a prolapsed L5/S1 disc which couldn't possibly cause either of these nerve dysfunctions. I get it on both sides of my back below my shoulder blades (but rarely both sides at the same time) but worse on the left. On the left side there is an oval patch of skin below my shoulder blade which is slightly numb but also hypersensitive at the same time.
It always starts when I do something which involves working with my arms out in front of me. The crawling sensations start up, but if I pin my shoulder blades together and straighten up, the sensations stop within seconds. Likewise, no matter how annoying it has been during the day as soon as I sit in a comfy chair which takes the weight off my back or if I get into bed, it again stops within seconds.
All of you should try the exercise Glenn posted a few days back. If it is too hard, try an upright version of the corrective Y Exercise. Do 8-10 reps holding the rep for 6-8 seconds. Do three to four sets. Work up to this though. Do this everyday.
Also, do peck stretches. Youtube "standing peck stretch". Do this twice a day for a minute each time.
For a quick fix, you can get a tennis ball and put it between your back and a wall and roll it slowly and firmly up and down the muscles either side of your spine. Chances are you fill find lumps there which will be tender. Try and roll them out but dont make it hurt too much.
I went to my doctors last week regarding this and they said it could be early signs of Shingles and I have to look out for a rash but I have had this now for about 2 weeks and no rash yet and she then said it could be also pulled muscles in the back. I have recently started swimming too and maybe this could have caused this to happen. She said I should try and lay flat on the floor for a short period of time and hope that helps. I have tried this but ive still go it.
This past week the pain/discomfort seems to be spreading further down my back too. Im going to give it another week or two and then if no better Im back to the doctors. Its getting to the point where its driving me mad now!
For the past several months I have have had tingling along my bra line between my right shoulder blade and spine, always in the same spot. Has anyone mentioned what specific nerve this might be? I have disc issues at c3-c4-c5 vertebrae which caused tingling down my left arm and excruciating pain along my left shoulder blade. This is a different sensation altogether, though. Might it be connected to herniated discs? Thank you for posting all of your suggestions!
just as everyone said this is happening to me. i thought maybe my kiddney tho and the reason why is iv only been drinking water yet my pee comes out almost dark enough to be red.. it never was like that until the tingling started and it dosnt bother me so much as scare me for my health. has anyone had a positive answer to what caused this?
I just recently started to feel the same kind of tingling/numbness. I have a very active style job and I'm also a smoker so i'm assuming it might be a combination of the two?
I stopped eating all gluten and wheat products over a year ago, and my chronic migrained disappeard!! This totally blew me away. At nearly 60 years of age, I've had migraines since elementary school. I had one relapse last month but realized I'd eated a piece of bread every day for four days. Whereas before, I was slowly re-introducing wheat but only once a week. Regarding the tingling issues that have been posted on this thread and for the last 17 pages. I don't have time to read all of them, but I did get to page 8. Someone there mentioned TMS. That was all I needed. I did tons of research on TMS. Bought two books by Dr. Sarno: The Divided Mind, and Healing Back Pain. This doctor (another is Dr. Schechter) has seen thousands of patients with tingling issus, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, nerve and muscle pain and tingling, IBS and colon issues, eczema and hives, shingles, etc. He's cured them all by getting them to recognize their repressed anger and hurt. Trauma from the childhood (that was me, molested and abused), relationships and job stresses. Parental issues, spouse issues, etc. I highly recommend everyone on this forum check it out. You can buy his books used (I bought Healing Back pain for 40 cents plus shipping). It's worth it, and mainstream doctors won't help you. They'll just give you drugs, it's all they know.
I have tested my theory regarding the wheat several times since my post. Same thing happens in the same spot, in addition I noticed a general subtle itchiness i other areas. I suppose there are several issues being experienced on this forum. For those that are not finding the answer in the other posts, food intolerance cause many issues. They are often hard to discover unless you detox for weeks and then introduce foods back into your diet. I had my allergies tested years ago, but until I detoxed my body, it was not apparent to me what the effects on my body are. Try watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead to get a feel for the unusual issues caused by poor nutrition and food intolerance. They often don't show up until you get older. I just turned fifty this year and I have been experiencing unusual symptoms for years that are now disappearing.
