Good luck
I also am 26, work out every day, and eat a mostly vegetarian diet, with the addition of seafood. I stopped dairy a month ago due to ethical reasons, and it has not changed my stomach size. I never eat refined starch, processed foods, fried foods, or alcohol. I have OCD, and some anxiety and depression. I work a lot and probably am more stressed than the average person. After I poop my stomach feels even more bloated. I also get very tired during the day, often falling asleep while seated - despite religiously sleeping at least 7.5 hours every night. I have noticed that my bloating usually gets worse when I eat too little/too healthy/not enough calories, and work out too much - I'm not sure if this is due to the "starving person belly" effect, or my body "holding on" to my poop.
It seems like there is a pattern of everyone in this forum exercising a lot, eating a super clean diet, and possibly having some anxiety/depression.
I am going to try eliminating gluten, almonds, and soy from my diet, and will let you know if I find anything. I may also look into getting a synogram which someone mentioned.
Look into "abdominal phrenic dyssynergia", it falls under the umbrella of "functional GI disorders".
Same EXACT issue, nearly the same stats. Very fit and active, eat well. It's slightly there in the morning, but balloons to looking 5-6 pregnant by the end of the day. No pain, no constipation, no food allergies or issues. It pretty much happened overnight.
Been seeing a gastroenterologist for about 7 months. I've had all sorts of tests done: endoscopy, gastric emptying test, two sonograms, pregnancy tests, CT scans, X-rays. All turned up normal. My gastroenterologist thinks it's a little known issue called "abdominal phrenic dyssynergia" or APD, which is something that affects the diaphragm and the muscles, letting everything in your abdomen kinda hang out. My doctor also says that this tends to happen to very fit people. (It apparently tends goes hand-in-hand with another issue with pelvic floor muscles, but a lot of people here, myself included, do not seem to have that issue.) I went to see a physical therapist to basically reteach my body how to reuse the muscles and diaphragm to hold everything in. In my case, the physical therapist sent me away after three sessions, but my gastro doc really thinks it may be this APD issue and is contemplating sending me to another physical therapist at this point point in time.
