Many people get worried when they get acne or pimples around their genitals because some STDs manifest in this way in many people. Unless one is sexually active- without using protection- occurrence of acne-like spots around the groin area is normal in most people, especially women. Genital acne is known as Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
The main difference between genital acne and pimples on the face or the back is that it involves apocrine glands in the groin area rather than sebaceous glands like other forms of acne. These two glands form acne when clogged. Occurrence of acne around the genital area among women is caused by several factors; knowing the causes of genital acne can help one know how to treat or prevent it. The following are some causes of genital acne (pimples) and possible treatment.
Sweating
This is the main cause of genital acne. When sweat accumulates around the groin area it accumulates bacteria that can cause an inflammation of the sweat pores; hence leading to development of genital acne. To solve the sweating problem one needs to get underwear that is easily aerated. Silk or nylon is not good material for underwear because it does not let the sweat out, but accumulates it. Shop for underwear made from cotton for better aeration.
Tight underwear
Tight underwear can cause genital acne in two ways. First, it is not well aerated hence accumulates sweat which becomes a harbor for bacteria. Another way tight underwear causes genital acne is by abrasion. It is a natural reaction when the skin develops a rash after constant scuffing. In some people this rash is then inflamed after by bacterial infection, leading to genital acne. Buying fitting underwear might be the treatment for genital acne.
Ingrown hair
Ingrown hair in vaginal pores can cause a swelling that resembles vaginal acne. Frequent shaving is the main cause for ingrown hair around the vagina; during shaving one can injure hair pores then during healing the pore shuts, enclosing hair follicles. If this is a constant problem consider other means of hair removal like waxing.
Hormonal cycle in women
The hormone progesterone has the same effect on apocrine glands as it has on sebaceous glands on the face or the back. Although not clear why, research shows that high progesterone levels spurt hormonal imbalance in the female body which then leads to lipid accumulation in pores. The pores then become inflamed, causing genital acne. This is why many women have genital acne just before their periods. If the acne is only around the groin, normal acne cleansers and treatments work just fine to clear genital acne.
Certain foods can lead to development of vaginal acne
Some people have an occurrence of genital pimples after consuming certain foods like margarine, mayonnaise or eggs. These examples of food are high in fats which might lead to clogging of pores thus causing genital acne. Examine your diet to determine if the cause of acne around your groin is due to the type of food consumed.
Allergic reaction
If one develops genital acne after consumption of certain foods that they normally don't have in their diets, it could probably be caused by an allergic reaction to the foods. Most allergic reactions manifest as skin rashes or boils which resemble vaginal acne.
Do not squeeze pimples because it might lead to further inflammation. Visit your dermatologist or gynecologist to determine the cause and possible treatment for pimples around the genitals if the problem worsens.
Warm Compress
Gently press a hot wet washer to the area and allow to cool - repeat this several times then gently wipe to ensure dry - dab any p***y bits but don't squeeze. Keep dry and DO NOT use soaps, scents or other additives to the area - clean with a soap free wash and wear cotton loose cotton undies - coming up to your period especially.
GOOD LUCK LADIES!
What was it?! did you find out??
do u shave ur pubic hair? if so thats all it is, I had one earlier 2day and I popped it and blood and white puss came out. its nothing to worry about its just a ingrown hair/pimple
I used to roll a sock and put it in my underwear to make it look like I was sporting a large penis. Started getting pimples around my penis. Stopped using the sock and the pimples went away. Started using the sock again and the pimples came back. Stopped using the sock and the pimple went away. Started using the sock and the pimples came back. This never happened over night, but over time. Finally I came to the conclusion that the sock was the cause of the pimples. One thing that is worth noting is that, even though I wear clean underwear everyday, I wasn't using a clean sock. I mean the sock was clean, I didn't take it off my foot and put it in my underwear, but I would use the same sock day after day for a week or so, until I did the laundry. But I could see how dirty tight, dirty underwear, sport cup, or female pad could be the culprit.
They have a name, do you know it, I have had two doctors check me the first a specialist skin doctor who dismissed them straight away as nothing when I was early teen, and a second std doctor possible just a clinic doctor but was not sure and so gave me some ointment for warts, which was annoyingly painful and did not work, in my early twenties. Unfortunetly they have compleatly spread but I'm comfortable they cause no irritation and I've had no complaints;)
Not cleaner then a shower. Think about it u r soaking in your own filth
IST OFF you're not a trained medical assistant dermatologist or even esthetician for that matter but however you did say that you were not clean because that's how you discover it cuz you finally try to clean well keep yourself clean but don't but you two people cuz you're dirty ... Just do something and learn something .To everyone else those are hair follicles to you somehow inflamed irritated whatever the case is if you keep messing with them they can and will stay up to 2 years or maybe even longer years , about 10 years ago I had the same problem and I discovered something by a pure fluke / accident or shall I say serendipity it will help everybody One day I went in my pool and it was chlorinated normal nothing special everything Normal So don't go pour bunch of chlorine in somewhere , I had no intentions of finding out where did I didn't even think about those things at the time when with my pool I just wanted my pool like a regular day so when I got out I felt them kind of Feeling irritated and Itchy and that never happened before but they were there a good year and never Itchy and or antything so looking at them I knew if I squeeze them they're going to come out and boy did they. And when they come out I would suggest you cover them with a tissue first before squeezing because the pressure is intense so they squirt pretty far to say the leaset I have three each one of them will squeeze was crazy pressure 3 times at least and I'm talking a lot of stuff is going to come out but it will never come back doesn't look like a lot In In there but you'd be surprised l got them all out they never came back my cousin had the same problem I called her and told her she did the same thing same thing happened they came right out but stay in the pool fr for at least an hour but I think its in the chlorine actually give it about an hour in there and move around I guarantee you they will squeeze right out as soon as you get Don't listen to other people the one above me
