Hi MJ,
Wow! It's amazing that your exercises have helped you so much.
In the case series of 24 patients released last december (by the urologists of the University of Groningen), it was stated that 3 patients out of 5 had full remission of symptoms after pelvic physiotherapy. However, it's the first time i read a post on a forum that has an outcome so positive and promising! Thank you for sharing that! :)
As the administrator of the Fb page on the matter, i confirm that you are indeed welcome to join in if you get to create your Fb profile.
My experience with pelvic physio is not that positive so far, unfortunetely. For a little more than a month now, i've been doing breathing, low back and pelvic floor muscles relaxation exercices, as prescribed by my physiotherapist (specialized in pelvic floor), without improvement so far. How long did you have to wait until the first signs of improvement?
You mentionned having googled key words such as 'pelvic floor exercises' and 'pelvic stretches' in order to get specific videos. I guess you found them through YouTube? Would it be possible for you to give us the authors (just under the titles of videos) of the videos you use the most (since it's not possible to post the links here), or any other clues that would be helpful. Therefore, i could post those in our Fb page. The positive stories are so scarce; it'd be really nice if your experience could help other guys with that alienating condition.
Again, thank you for coming back here to give us such positive news!
Take care man!

Hi guys.
Im 32 years old and had this problem for about 2-3 months, I woke up like 4-5 times a night from an erection and it really started to bother me as I couldnt keep up with my studies due to the lack of sleep and it really started to have an impact in other aspects of my daily life. I found this thread as I was googling my symptoms and it didnt exactly give me any hope of finding a medical solution to the problem since I saw that many had been struggeling with this issue for years having been to various doctors and trying many different methods. This however got me thinking.. all too often when the doctors dosnt understand a condition it is because the root of the problem is spiritual. I started to pray to Jesus Christ to set me free from whatever was giving me these erections and sure enough, I am not having the same issue any longer and am sleeping well again, thank God.
Hope this helps someone.. feel free to email me if you have questions ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of private information such as name, phone number or email address is not allowed in order to protect your privacy*** Please read our Terms of Use
I’m at the end of a week long vacation in which I haven’t done any of my normal stretches. By Wednesday night, I noticed that dreaded sensation begin to wake me up several times. So I started stretching my low back and pelvis again. I haven’t noticed the pain since. I lay on the floor with a rolled up towel under my lower back and the bottoms of my feet together like a butterfly stretch for ten minutes. Then for ten more minutes, I extend my legs, still with the towel under my low back. After that, I slowly remove the towel, slowly sit up and do some low back twists. After the soreness goes away, I stand up and do some toe touching. That seems to be what works for me. Like I said in another post, google “pelvic stretches for men” and check out some videos. There’s one titled “6 essential stretches....” with a woman demonstrating. I do 3-4 of them on the regular. Good luck gentlemen.

Hallo,
Thanks for your post. I'm struggling with the same issue now for 8 years. Have you had any breakthrough in the meantime??
If not, I'm planning to do active research on this in the hope to find answers/solutions. I'm busy creating a group of men from all over the word who struggles with Sleep Related Painful Erections (SRPE). I will also be sending out a questionnaire to partake in; in the hope to "connect the dots". There has to be one reason and a sollution! Do you want to partake in this? You are welcome to use a different name (if confidentiality is important to you). Thanks. Mr Researcher

Some nights/mornings could be two, others could be three or four. Wouldn't really call it painful, but very hard and annoying. Majority of the time it isn't an erotic feeling, but makes me feel like I have to go to bathroom. However, most times when I go to bathroom I don't void much.
Granted I've been in a tough spot for a while with career/job seeking issues, but I don't think it makes sense to tie to a psychological condition since I believe I also had this problem when I was freelancing. But what do I know, obviously not a doctor.
Have tried clonazepam and sedated to no avail, as they both gave me excessive fatigue.
Looking forward to reviewing past and future posts to see if I can gain any more potential solutions.
