OK. I am so glad I stumbled onto this . I had an ablation 12 months ago. I almost died from hemorrhaging each month. My iron count got so low the doctor couldnt believe i wasnt in a coma. The cramps were servere as well. So I had the ablation and was very happy, until about 4 months later I resumed light periods. Well i guess I can live with that. No hemorrhaging and no insane pain, right? Now about 4 months ago I began cramping again, more so than the amount of menstrual flow would indicate, but still not severe, until last month. My cycle hit me with cramps bad enough to have me in bed crying with a hot water bottle in the fetal position. Who knew the worst was yet to come. This months I began cramping 3 days ago and no sign of it letting up. I have tried 1000mg ibuprofen, 150mg tramadol (a perscription I have for osteoarthritis.) The pain this time is so far worse than anything I have had my entire menstruating life. I am not passing any menstrual blood, except for very little smears of dark brown scabby looking discharge that looks exactly like the discharge immediately after the surgery. My pelivic area is extremely tender and it feels like my uterus is distended. I feel like vomiting. Feel like I'm horribly constipated, but only a little skinny dribble comes out when i move my bowels, and when it does i want to scream from the pain. I was so afraid maybe i had cancer. Jesus i am glad to find you ladies with similar experiences. And to share a ray of hope... if your doctor diagnoses you with this syndrome it may be due to stenosis of the uterus. A possible alternative to hysterectomy is a procedure that dialates the cervix to allows accumulated blood in the uterus to be released. ***this post is edited by

I thought about lawsuits too, but guaranteed your doctors would bury you in your medical records which documented all of your complaints and physical problems that led to the surgery and that the ablation procedure was your informed choice- and of course, you likely signed a release accepting responsibility for the possibility of side effects. Here's my recommendation after having walked a mile in your shoes for 2 years: Focus instead on what you need to do to get well. Anger only burns inside you and makes your symptoms worse. I know how you feel. I suffered for 2 years and kept researching and never let up. You need to keep digging to find the right GYN. I would recommend going to a GYN that understands bio identical hormone replacement therapy, not the old version of HRT which has serious side effects. Those physicians are few and far between, so just google bio identical HRT and you'll find one in your area. If you are in Florida, I know two, one in Gainesville and one in Margate. If you had thorough blood testing of the following areas and then had someone who understood them, you will likely find the answers you are looking for, as I did. Your blood test should check the following areas: TSH, FREE T3, FREE T4, AM CORTISOL, DHEAS, ESTRONE, ESTRADIOL, PROGESTERONE, TESTOSTERONE FREE, VITAMIN D3. You will likely find you are severely deficient in one or more of these important female hormones, which are likely the main cause of your symptoms. Good luck!
omg I thought I was the only one....such an odd problem. I had the Novasure procedure 5.5 years ago to help with heavy bleeding and cramping (also have 2 children that were born 2 and 3 years prior to the procedure, both by c-section). I had no other issues besides the bleeding and cramping prior to the procedure. My periods had been on a regular cycle - every 28 days. After the procedure I've had no problems, no bleeding, no discharge, no cramping....until about 6-8 months ago. The only way I'm able to describe the pain is that it feels like my cervix has grabbed my uterus in a tight fist and is wringing it out like an old dish rag (like back labor, but no ebb and flow, just flow). My uterus tilts in the wrong direction so I can literally feel the knot just above my pubic bone. Depending on how stressful my day is, it starts to hurt around 5pm. At it's worst, my lower back hurts so bad that I have to go from sitting to standing and back to sitting every 10-15 minutes until I can lay in the bed with a heating pad on my lower back and another one on my lower belly. If my day isn't stressful, the pain isn't as bad and I can usually make it all day without laying down at all. I assume the pain gets the worst around the same time I used to have my period, though I honestly have not tracked it. Orgasms will sometimes set the pain off, too. But at the same time, if it's hurting severely, multiple orgasms will actually relieve the pain. When it's most severe I have a really hard time urinating. I have to push really hard and force it to come out, otherwise I end up with a UTI...which I currently have. I haven't told the doctor about this because I'm afraid he'll think I'm crazy and over-reacting to common cramps. Since I've found this jewel of a site, I will most certainly be calling to make an appointment.
Thank you to everyone that shared their story about what you're going through. I really was trying to ignore it hoping it would just resolve itself on its own. I could have suffered with this for years if it hadn't been for these posts.
Hi, me again....liljen. I posted up there on 11/15. I wanted to provide an update....
I had my appointment with the Gynecologist....omg it was the most painful exam I've ever experienced. Not because he was rough or did anything out of the ordinary, it just hurt. The pain was more in the cervix/uterus area vs. the vaginal canal, and when he did the second part of the exam (with his fingers, not the speculum), and pushed on my lower belly I thought I was going to come up off the exam table it hurt so bad.
Anyway....apparently more than half of women that have this procedure before age 45 return within 5 years for a hysterectomy. Astonishing. That's what I went for in the first place and was persuaded to have the Novasure procedure instead. I have another appointment in 2 days for an ultrasound to find out if there's something else going on....endometriosis, ovarian cysts,..... Cancer of the female reproductive organs doesn't run in my family so I'm a little relieved by that, but still really scared about what he could find. He said a hysterectomy is imminent, he just wants to make sure there's no surprises when I go in for surgery.
On the bright side, after doing some research on hysterectomies, I have found there are lots of options regarding incisions and what gets removed. Of course those decisions are best made between a woman and her doctor and there are lots of variables to consider, but there are options that didn't exist 5 years ago when I originally went for one.
I'll provide another update after the ultrasound. Fingers crossed!!!!
Hi Liljen,
Thanks for sharing your story and I'd love to know how things turned out for you at our last doc appointment as I'm in the same position. I'm scheduled for another ultra sound later this month and then I'm sure the hysterectomy discuss will be had after this exam. I'd love to hear from someone that has had this done and if this indeed helped with the horrible pain of PAS. I'm now 51 so saving my uterus it's the issue it once was. I just want this pain to end.
Also has anyone heard of this sack of fluid breaking?
