I know this thread is older, but I have been having the balloon feeling in my upper right liver area. I developed bowel problems a few months ago. I went in for a barium x-Ray and CR scan. I was told my bowel was probably just stretched from a blockage. Here we are, a month later, and the feeling has increased in pressure. I think it could be a hernia. Last week, my ANA and and dsDNA tests both came back positive, which usually means Lupus (although we think I am in the smaller percentage who have Rheumatoid Arthritis). Half of my labs came back abnormal as well. I have to see a Rheumatologist, but I plan on seeing my PCP to see about imaging for hernia. What I guess I am saying is, similar story (mine just rambles on). If you ever read this, it would be interesting to know how your health is now.

Oh my gosh....your description of how "it" feels (baby foot sticking under your ribs" is spot on! I'm still trying to find out what it is! Hidascan, MRI'S, Cat Scans, Upper Endoscopy, etc....back to square one....did you ever solve your problem?

Hi there- can you suggest supplements that helped you? Was it a multi vitamin or straight Magnesium and Potassium. I've had the same symptoms as you along with the pressure everyone on her mentions. Been 5 years now. Thanks.

Hello
Thanks for posting this as i go tommorrow fro ultrasound and i have been dealing iwth the same exact symptoms for years. I had all of the testing done ane redone and they all come back normal . I was told about a inflamation of chest wall as it seeemed to began when i was working out doing core excercises. This diagnosis makes since as oppose to liver cancer as it as similar complaints with this condition. This gave me peace of mind and now i canmentioned it to my doctors when they tell me everythiing is normal then. Do you have any updates on your conditions?

Patient 007:   So far during my journey with all this - what I have found that helps is the following to get some relief.  Maybe it could help anyone one of you or maybe not?:  1. 8oz of cabbage juice helps for a period of time maybe like 4hours or so sometimes less.  ( Need Juice Machine) 2. Steamed Summer Squash seems to help alleviate some of the symptoms but comes back after a while. 3. papaya seems to help some also.   But I have only tried the dryed package kind.   4. keeping on a vitamin B Complex also helps keep things more calm in dealing with this I find.

Patient007 here again:   I seem to have found the off switch for this and its a little shocking to me still.  Its Been 5 Days of normal feeling.  It's unreal feeling after like 7 years of this.   Thank God I did not have my gallbladder removed or anything like that.   I like many of you went back and forth to the Doctors to the Emergency Rooms and always told your fine!  Yet I had the pressure on the right side, hard time breathing, and other things.

I am sure for many of you are more ok or fine while laying down or sleeping but when standing was like the worse at times even sitting down was harsh also.   Idk how many ultra sounds they keep on scheduling only to be told your fine.   The many different Doctors would finally say IBS, or GERD  But to me its like something else is going on.

Anyways what I found is that for me I don't know about the rest of you but I seem to have found that I was eating way too lean.   So the problem was that I was not getting any or very little saturated fat in my diet.   I was drinking almond milks and the like for years 0% saturated fat!.  Cereals and organic oatmeals all 0% saturated fat.   The lunch and dinners where little to no Saturated fat content as well unless I ate a burger perhaps.  But the insides are all irritated and that pressure was on like in the gallbladder area.  Babys foot feeling you know.

Why this Saturated Fat is important especially  in the morning as I found out from a Doctor is that it makes the BILE happen and flow in your body.  Thus Lubricating the intestines and gallbladder- all that.  The gallbladder getting inflamed due to little to no Bile happening and your trying to digest foods - well things bloat up and more = all the symptoms we all here have been experiencing.    Eating too lean & not getting the Saturated Fat means bile is not flowing.   Eggs in the morning are not enough.   So with that said I leave it up to all of you to try or see if that increasing the saturated Fat helps... Like GOATS MILK is a great start for the morning.   Even cheeses to get that liver to start pumping out that Bile which helps everything else.  But through out the day try to consume good amount of saturated fat.

I started reading this thread 2 years ago when I had all the symptoms described. All blood work and test came back normal. The doc just called it IBS. I kept digging deeper and came across abdominal trigger points. After researching trigger points in the abdominal muscles I became convinced that's what it was. I found a practitioner of Clinical Thai Bodywork and she used an EPS device (electrical point stimulator). The treatment was painful but effective. I didn't have anymore symptoms for a year and a half but they just came back - same as two years ago. I'm going for a EPS treatment again next week and I have a colonoscopy scheduled because I just turned 50.

You are very observant , it DOES appear that if there was a real "diagnosis" for this that at least ONE of the thousand people on here would have been provided one. I have been diagnosed with and accept the fact that I have really bad anxiety. When I am under a lot of stress, which is MOST of the time, I find that the tightness and tension gets worse. It feels like I worked out and my muscles overlying my ribs are spasmatic, tense then become sore. When my stress level lowers or subsides it goes away but as I stated I have anxiety really bad so it comes back. If I concentrate on it which I do all of the time, it becomes worse with an added bubbly feeling. I am going to get all of the test because I know me and if I don't get assurance that it is not my organs I will assume I have a horrible disease such as cancer. So for me the answer is to get checked to ease my anxious mind. I wish I was beyond the test cause they also make me nervous so I will feel this all the way until I have the test done and prayerfully be clear of any disease of the organs.

great advice , I will eliminate all other possible causes before trying this . Also heads up to those who take turmeric powder , it causes liver damage if you consume it on a daily basis for a long period of time, so be careful

I can agree with previous poster that low-carb diet really helps. Carbs are sugars, and metabolically they turn into fat, and during the time they storage around your vascular system and organs, as well as on liver. Fatty liver can be fixed, so not a big deal. The low-carb diet is great way to start for sure. I think that low-carb diet is good for everyone, kids healthy people, old people. It is the real proof on how to start your fight against per-diabetes as well.

Anyways, in case of gallbladder attack, where a patient can experience very sharp and prolonged pains under the right-side rib-cage and below the right shoulder blade or in the middle of your back ... in this case you should go to and visit a GP or even call 911 if it is over 8 on scale from 1-10 ...

Apple cider vinegar is a good supplement, but I do not agree that this could help you with some acute problems like gallbladder stones .

Take care, and stay safe during this unprecedented time of COVID-19 :|

I read almost every post and all so informative. So thank you all. One in particular stood out for me. Before I go there let me share that I had severe GERD for over a year and tried multiple things in prescription form and/or over the counter. Nothing seemed to work. My second ENT prescribed Dexilant for it. And overtime that allowed my stomach to heal and it worked to where I didn’t need it anymore. Suddenly six months ago I had the same annoying pressure type of feeling in the upper right abdomen like all of you. I had MRI and scans all saying I’m fine. Stumbled across the site three days ago. I did not connect it to my previous issue of GERD until reading that someone took Omeprazole with success. So I thought why not just get back on Dexilant (still has a sealed bottle and see what happens. Day three that annoying feeling is gone. It’s the first relief I’ve had in a long time. Good luck!

Hi have been experiencing the same symptoms like something is enlarged under my right hand side rib cage for many years. My mood is the same because i am constantly in discomfort. My Doctor has said she will get to the bottom of what is causing. About 7 weeks ago i had severe pain in the back of my ribs, sort of behind the ribs. I couldn't sleep and had to curl up in the chair. I then rang my Doctor and she had me in for blood tests. My bloods came back with my Liver slightly inflamed. So she then gave me a blood test again 2 weeks later and my Liver was not so inflamed. I am awaiting a Ultrasound and further tests. I just want to feel normal
