to both of you, take it from someone who has had eight of them and needs a shoulder replacement.  The surgery is painful but I found that if you are still having that much pain have a repeat MRI to make sure and if the doctor says the MRI is normal get a copy and read it yourself.  My first one that is what happened and after 6 months of PT and it still hurt I got a copy of that MRI and it said they thought there was a retear and the doctor never caught it and now it's a mess and the other shoulder is right behind it from overuse.  If you think there's something wrong demand a MRI don't be like me and be on total disability from a 2cm tear.

Relax as too soon to worry. I developed frozen shoulder while in the sling and had a lot of pain for 4 to 5 months and was not feeling decent for 7 or 8 months and not good for a year. Now 18 months later im 90% and normal activity. ,minor discomfort nowcand then but no biggy. Good luck. Btw surprised you're in pt so soon.

THere's a difference between a little pain and the pain u get when it comes apart or retears.  You can't sleep and function properly.  I hope u find out what's wrong.  I've been kicked out of PT six times because they can't get my arms to get better.  You have taken the right step by getting a repeat MRI  Let me know

I had my rotator cuff surgery 3 months ago. Complete tear 4 screws used. Pain was very intense for about 2 1/2 months. Needed pain medication but the only thing I found that help was ICE lots and lots of ice. No sleep averaged about 2 hours exhausted very irritable. Shoulder pain was bad I also suffered from horrible pain in my shoulder blade felt like someone had kicked me very tender to touch ice helped still icing after 3 months.  Muscle spasms rear shoulder and upper back area starting to get a little better still there after 3 months.

If you  are going to have this surgery asked the surgeon there pain management plan. I did not an regret it.  My surgeon  Idea was percocet one week after surgery then vicadan. He acted like I was faking the amount of pain I was in. He was a good salemens prior to surgery  convince me he was a compassionate person, he was not. He dismissed everything I told him I was going through as if patting your child on his head after falling off there bicycle. Was not taken serously. I had to be a ass to get him to take listen.

I understand this is a long recovery process and I am going to hurt. As of now I have stop taking prescription pain medication I need a clear head for work. I'm still in pain. Good luck to you If your going through this or about to.

i too had this surgery Aug. 2011. my surgeon told me to stay in front of the pain( translation: take meds before the pain gets really bad and every 6 hours , this helped me a whole lot, good luck.

I have the same exact situation you have, except I had my surgery in '08 and last night I slept a total of 3 hours due to this pain in my neck, shoulder and arm. Both my rotator cuffs were torn, I had the left one fixed and it hurts worse than the one that was not fixed. I can forecast when its going to rain. Its so frustrating.

Had this surgery 11 years ago and it is the most painful of all surgeries I have had. Pain is coming back and am having blocks. Hope it is not another tear.
