I had a miscarriage 2 years ago and lost a lot of blood. I then underwent surgery because of my miscarriage. I don't understand this, i call it, disease but i know my blood count is reall low. I only eat frosty or ice with every fine holes so that when you eat it, it's really crunchy. I work at kfc where i can get ice in an abundance and at my leisure. It's so bad that i sometimes go into the walkin chiller or freezer at work and breath through my mouth to get that wonderful coldness. I need help but no one around me really understands.
can you help me please

;-) Hi ,
i have been eating crush ice for many years. and i did stop for awhile . But i started up again when i got this NINJI MACHINE.
It crushes my ice so fine that it's like a snow cone type of crushed ice. well i have been drinking this diet kool-aid ,and i thought hey i could make myself a snowcone . So i did and now thats how i eat my ice and my kol-aid too .i dont know if it is bad for us .But i just got a complete physical ,and blood work and everything came out good . So if ther's nothing wrong with me i see no reason why i should'nt eat my crushed ice . :-D

I eat ice all the time! I developed a problem with my period last year and I bled for 10 months straight...and I'm not talking spotting, I'm talking about 6-8 tampons a day. It was then that I started eating the frosty ice. My bleeding has straightened out (now I'm down to about 2 times a month), but I still eat the stuff. Matter of fact, I buy an 8lb bag of crushed ice a day from the store up the street. Maybe I need to go to a doc, but I LOVE THE STUFF! I call it my "nerve pill."
I have a very bad ice eating habit. It has to be the soft Sonics drive in ice. I have been eating ice for a very long time atleast ten years or more. I have made Sonic rich because I have to have a "route 44" cup of ice atleast 3 times a day. I believe that I am anemic. My last doctors appointment said that I was borderline anemic. I tried to take iron pills but they made me very constipated. I have a very heavy menstral cycle also. I was just wondering if this habit is unhealthy and if it causes any other health problems?
I found my circle of friends!! I thought something was wrong with me, as there still very well may be. I noticed myself craving ice this past summer, and i wanted it from a certain place. It was kind of soft, and melted when you chewed it. Oh so good! Then, i went to eating slushy ice, and it just kept getting more ridiculous! Now, i have a special plastic container that i use to pour spring water in, and set it in the freezer. When it starts to get hard, i break it up and eat the partially frozen pieces. I continue this until its all gone. I love the frost burnt taste! Its crazy! I have noticed that my periods are not normal for the past four months, and is extremely heavy. I have even gotten dizzy to the point of passing out. I believe this condition does have to do with our blood is some way.
Met my husband at a Bluegrass show, had seen him and was very interested then he sat behind me and was crunching ice, thought cool he eats ice too. We got married, now he doesn't eat ice but every so often, but I eat ice constantly. Have had trouble with anemia growing up, but when I give blood and they check it the hemoglobin is fine. Anyway I have been having weakness and started coughing a lot. It will start as nagging tickling cough then gradually develop into chest congestion, fever, etc... Dr gives me a steroid shot and antibiotic. That helps for awhile then I start eating more ice again and the weakness and coughing start again. Looked up some of the symptoms I was having and it looks like fluid around the lungs, weakness, hiccups, coughing, pain in the chest, and having to prop up my pillow at night. Dr says that is not it, but can't figure out what it is.
My step-son made a deal with me, he would stop chewing gum if I stop eating ice. He was chewing 6 packs a week. Tried for a week to stop eating ice and have noticed coughing stopped and feeling more energetic. But have started eating very small amounts then yesterday ate about four large cups of ice and got up this morning feeling really bad, could tell I have some chest congestion, pain and coughing, Mucinex helps a lot. Know I am putting this out there and sure lots of people will say just stop eating ice. Just wanted to know if any one else noticed these sort of symptoms. Was thinking about it yesterday when my insides felt all cool and wondered what that frigid temperature is doing to my body.

I'm glad I am not alone. I gave up smokes and pop took to ice eating. Makes me short tempered if I don't have it. I awake sore and miserable most days and am not at all pleasant. It gets worse for days if I try to quit. My family and I are at wits end.
To all my fellow ice lovers. The only thing that ice does is help with your water intake and it could destroy the enamel on your teeth if you crunch it too much. I found a solution to that though....ninja master prep. I crush all of my ice in the ninja and it makes the ice like snow. The ice has to be dry to come out like snow. If it is wet, it will come out slushy. Either way is delicious, but I prefer the dry ice. Also, I am an ice addict too. I buy a 20 lb bag from the ice machine and shave it up daily. I keep a sonic route 44 cup filled with it 24/7. I am anemic, but I also JUST LOVE ICE!!!! I was eating it before the anemia, but it has gotten much worse since being diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia.
I too eat ice. It started about 10 months ago after a medical condition forced me to stop smoking. It gave me something to do with my mouth that wouldn't cause me to gain weight. Now I'm addicted! It's such a weird addiction. I'm a nurse and I know the causes can be iron deficiency, low hemoglobin, etc. But I have to say that patient's that I take care of with low hemoglobin in the hospital receiving blood are not eating ice. So is that really a symptom? It may be a bad habit, but I can think of a lot worse habits than eating ice. It's not good for my teeth! But it does satisfy my craving for a cigarette. And anything is better than that!
i think eating ice is the same as eating hard candy or jawbreakers
I eat 5 lbs. of crushed ice 3 to 4 times per week. I have developed acne on my arms and chest. I have red, swollen areas around my ankles, and my skin itches. Are these symptoms of eating too much ice? Or somethings else? Can a person develop "bends" from eating too much ice? I do not have insurance and cannot consult a doctor because of it. I am starting to become concerned--does anyone know more than I do about this habit? I am not anemic.
im a mother of 4 and an excessive ice muncher. I eat ice all day morning noon and night. I lost over 50lbs. since june of2010. I replace mmeals with ice i dont hav a taste for any foods I would go days without eating a meal. in the course of a day i eat ove 2 5lbs of ice. I dont recall when i last drank 8oz's of water. My husband purchaced me a food processor that i use to crush ice only. plz help me what is wrong wit me
Okay... I would say that maybe this was an OCD. However, I heard that many people who are "sexually frustrated", tend to chew ice continuously.
To ALL ice eaters: I immediately stopped eating ice as of December 26th!! My sister is a registered nurse, and previously I have been researching this ice eating situation. I have been eatin a 5lb bag of ice a day, and my ankles were completely swollen, and my whole body was just bloated. There is a condition called Hyperhydration, that causes your body to hold water, and flush out he electrolytes in your body! You really should look this up on your own, because that's all it took for me to stop! You can really harm yourself by eating tons of ice. I still pop a couple pieces a day, but compared to a bag a day? Awesome!
I am 41 and a single mother a 6 yr old little girl.
I have eaten and craved ice since I was my daughters age. To my doctors defense, I have been anemic most of my life as well. I take iron pills three times a day so my levels are finally back on track, however.... here in my area of life.... we have Bush's Chicken and they have the best ice - the nice soft small pellet ice comparable to Sonic Ice.
My thing is this - I am so bad with my ice addiction - I buy it by the bag for my office at work - and go thru two bags a week just to myself and that is on the low side and not including what I go thru at my house in the evenings or the weekends.
I have a cup with me when I leave the house to go shopping or drop my daughter off at school in the morning or go visit my parents ot wherever. A cup is ALWAYS within reach!
How do I nd this craving, this need.....
