I quit over a month ago and recently started with the diarrhea and dizzyness/vertigo-like symptoms. I was ready to go to the Dr. thinking I'm losing it! I see on here that this seems to be normal for many people. I'm going to hang in there and hope it passes. Thank you for sharing. I see this was over a year ago, so I hope all worked itself for you.
best of luck to you xenad63, I'm starting my new quit on March 15th. I've tried so many times before but I really want this one to stick with me!!! All I can say is watch how much you are eating, because my last quit I put on 40 lbs!!!! I've lost about 25 of those so far, but still have a way to go. But the weight comes on quick so find other distractions besides eating!!! Good Luck!!!
Fantastic post. Thank you
Hi Minxlil,
I am the same age and same sex as you are and this is my 70th day as well- I feel the same symptoms you have listed. In addition I also have headaches from time to time but quite often. It would be great to know when it is gonna be as fine for me as it used to be.

I'm nervous about this whole process. I know now after 46 years of being a smoker that I have to quit. (slow learner. LOL) However, today is only day 3 of cold turkey and I've been nauseous and throwing up all afternoon/evening. Already I have no energy and had to take a nap which I don't normally do. i READ ALL OF THESE POSTS AND AM SHOCKED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY MALADIES LINKed to the quitting of smoking. I had no idea. I wish my doctor might have mentioned some things that might occur. I already know that I'm depressed because I'm so anxious. 46 years. Cigarettes were my best friends. They helped me through loneliness, sadness, stress, and depression. I'm quitting this time because my lung capacity has diminished significantly - I can tell when I walk up a flight of steps.
From cigarettes to antidepressants? Better go back to smoke.
Not necessarily. I was always taught to move forward and not go back
So how's it going so far? Hang in there it's a tough road mentally but it can be done. I'm on month 22. Keith
Istvan: I would like to know how u r doing right now? Are you feeling completely better after taking the vitamin B6? Im facing kind of same situation here except for gastric. Reply would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Thought id mention my experience since so many have. The more experiences you read about when trying to understand what will happen when you quit smoking,,the better I think you will be, so you dont freak to much.
By the way I have quit many times before so I know how it all goes, at least with me anyway. I also know how it all goes when you start back smoking. All I can say there is if you start back, dont give up. Thats just a learning lesson you can use to help you when you try to stop smoking again, assuming you do.
My main reasons for learning how to quit smoking was because smoking was causing me more harm then pleasure, and it all was to obvious. I had reached the point of having no energy at all. I would go through stages of gasping for air or to breath, usually at nights, and for many hours, seemingly all night some times. A sure sign smoking was giving me copd and lung damage. Also my heart rate was so fast, especially after smoking a cigarette, to even try to count the number of beats of minute was hard to do it was beating so fast. Also when having my head, or rather ears under water in the bath tub, I could hear the wheezing in my lungs loudly. Also at times even when not being in the tub. Another sure sign,,copd is creeping in the mix, meaning sure lung damage.
Of course never think the lungs cant heal greatly if given half the chance, regardless what your told. Maybe never good as new, but close enough to be sure given time when you quit smoking. Most of the norm or obvious things have been pointed out already in other comments. Such as even having a hard time breathing now and then after you quit smoking, that will pass in time. You may feel dizzy,,have weird tingles in the body,,or other odd sensations with nerves and such. Your heart rate will surely lower in time after quiting, which is a good sign the body is getting more oxygen. You may have other odd pains, sinus infections,,bleeding nose,,weird thoughts and feelings,,all the norm too,,even if you feel a bit insane while going through it. Most will pass given enough time. And remember what dont pass, your still healthier then you were, and becoming more so ,,so long as you stay off the cigs.
If it gets to hard for you, you can use the electronic cigarettee or some other method like patches or so on for a bit of nicotine. By the way the nicotine is not really what is the truly bad stuff in cigarette smoke,,its all the other countless chemicals in such. And vaping or using the electronic cigarettee or patches or so on,,is way way less harmful to your body.
Like any habit,,if you dont do the habit long enough, it slowly goes away or becomes no longer a habit. Well more so then not anyway right.
So dont give up, think of something else, get your mind off cigs whenever such comes to mind. Do something else even. And again, if you fail, or go back to smoking. You can try to quit another time, so dont feel to bad about it. Just use what you learned of the experience to help you with next time you plan on quiting. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes or backslide so to speak when learning how to quit smoking. Just dont use that as an excuse to keep going back to smoking.
And truth be told its much harder on a body when you quit,,then restart,,then quit and repeat. As such strains a body and if you did not know it yet from experience,,your own body will rebel against that, by causing you a variety of unplesant experiences you may not like. As your body knows the benefits on itself when you quit smoking,,and it has a mind of its own as well, never forget that, and best of luck :)
