I agree with you 100%. I have to be reminded that I have had surgery. I watch what I lift, but I am doing dishes, and picking up the house. I have only been home from the hospital for four days, and raring to go.
i HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME HAD SURGERY 10 DAYS AGO HAD TROUBLE WITH CONSTIPATION FIRST NOW I HAVE THE AWFUL HEAVY LIKE A 10LB BABY IS STUCK OWN BELOW TAKING PAIN KILLERS BUT DAY BY DAY NO IMPROVEMENT WENT BACK FOR BLOOD AND URINE AND SCAN AND SAIS ALL OK.
I had a hysterectomy, rectocele, and cystocele repair surgery on May 24, 2013. The recovery was rough and I had urinary retention, which made me wear a catheter for four days (return trip to ER in less than 24 hours after discharge from hospital.
I had alot of back pain and many return visits to the gyno for pain, which I still, eight weeks out, still can bother me. But all in all, I'm so glad that I had the surgeries! The worse part of it now is having constipation, so I take stool softners and laxatives everyday. This past week, I'm having regular looking stools instead of pencil size stools. I'm still having some beige color discharge but it is small in amount. I will tell anyone to first research the surgeries and follow after care instructions. If there is a problem, seek medical attention as soon as possible. Good luck to those who have to have these surgeries. No regrets yet!

I am so appreciative of you mentioning the sudden gush of blood, five days after your operation. This happened to me, on day 6 post-op. and I was horrified, as I'd had no idea that this can take place. I rang the gynae. ward nursing sister and she was very relaxed about it, saying that it does happen to some women. My bleeding carried on from early morning until the same evening, getter much lighter as the hours ticked by.It then stopped completely. Getting the news out there may help other women in our position :)
I agree the gas pains were the worst. What menopausal symptoms did you have?
