I have been having the same problems. I think my problem started when I started using hydrocortisone for hemmorhoids after having my son. I got a yeast infection, my vaginal area was red and flaky and itchy. I got all kinds of stuff to treat it but nothing seemed to help. I started reading and got some helpful info. This might seem gross to some people but it helped me a lot. First to treat the yeast infection I got plain yogurt and used it topically before I got a shower for about 2 weeks. That helped the infection but I still had flaky itchy skin left. I remembered when my son had cradle cap. It looked just like it red and scaly. So I used what we used for his cradle cap it contains calendula and jojoba and the scalyness and redness started to go away almost over night. I also started using dove soap which is mild and moisturizing and a mild moisturizer after my shower. I also took a benedryl before bed just as a precaution for the itching and inflammation. All of this helped and Im getting better.

Hi every one I thought I was the only one with this problem although it is embarrasing and hard to talk about I love my doctor he takes the time to listen and then researches the sympton. He finally told me today that it is Lichen Sclerosus. Gave me an ointment called clobetasol and will keep an eye on things. Hope this helps.

I'd say it's all a yeast infection.... side effects of taking antibiotic includes a yeast infection...

Make ure you stay away from sugary foods & drinks as it feeds the yeast. Also things like bread and gluten products.

Acidophilus is excellent to keep your natural yeast levels normal, avoid tight pants, wear more breathable materials like cotton... and you shouldn't really be having sex, can agrivate it and pass it onto your partner... if you do have sex make sure you go to the toilet after and dry yourself... leaving it moist isn't good.

Also when taking the oral thrush treatments... don't take more then the one dose and don't overuse these as they can cause problems with your liver...

I used to get thrush once a month (runs in the family) but since i've been monitoring my food intake its a lot less common.

I used to be so embarrassed about it, but it really is common thing for women. VERY common

I have been thru this for months, years, now. I went to three different OB/GYN doctors. The first one said it was a yeast infection, gave me a pill for it, but it did not change. The 2nd doctor said that I had Lichen Sclerosus (just by looking at it and not taking what is called a punch test of the skin) then she told me to go to the internet to see what it was all about and gave me some hydrocorizone steriod cream..well I did look on the internet and I got the sh*t scared out of me. I thought how could she just tell me that and not explain it...well she said that she had to go deliver a baby. Any way, I went immediately to another OB/GYN doctor, who said no is it not LS and that it was a bacterial infection. I was put on two kinds of drugs and told to stop the cream the other doctor gave me. She then tested me for STD's, none found. No yeast infection either. I also have IBS, and have been going to the bathroom alot because of it, so I went to a GI doctor next. They took blood test, urine test, upper GI test, etc, and nothing found. I saw a GI doctor three years ago and they did a colonospy. Noting found. The itching and redness when away when I was on Flagyl and Levaquin from the last doctor. Now the itching around the anus is coming back. It is driving me crazy. I have tried hot baths, 100% aloe vera, neem cream, probiotics, changed my body soap, stopped eating dairy, stopped drinking coffee, even tried a gluant free diet. I was then tested for celiac disease, no problem there. I am so sick of this. My girlfriend, has the same problem but her's got much worse and she went to my last doctor, who tested her and said that she had a bacterial infection which then turned into a Staph infection now.
I guess I should go back to the doctor. We both living on an island and I am thinking that maybe the water here is bad for drinking? Or maybe some place that we went to eat had bad food? Because we both have to be getting this from somewhere. My problem has been going on for a while now. Any suggestion out there?

five days ago i went to the doctor for abdominal pain. I was given flagyl for a bacterial infection. A few days after I started taking it I noticed the iching and redness. My best friend had been on it when we were kids for PID and it gave her a yeast infection everywhere( even in her mouth) If you look at the side effects of Flagyl it says that it may cause a yeast infection. I stopped taking once I noticed the discharge and itching, I am also on cipro for a UTI and upper respiratory infection, Which it's side effects also can lead to yeast infections. I have now stopped taking both medications and I'm hoping everything heals itself. My advice is to stop all antibiotics as they are probably causing the issue. If you can treat the symptoms by OTC meds, try using those for whatever the anitbiotics are for. Antibiotics kill off both good and bad bacteria which then leads to diarrhea, and you have no "good" bacteria doing its job which then in turns causes the build up and discharge to take over and cause yeat infections through out the body. I'm not a doctor so if your antibiotic will help your illness more than the irritation of the yeast infection that comes with the treatment by all means stay on your meds. I'm feeling better, and I know doctors say take the antibiotics till they're gone, but I can't keep this going on.

I'm so terrified...It's a persistent, sometimes INTENSE itching on the vulva, and flaking of the skin. I thought there were small bumps (might just be because I'm paranoid...I get a lot of razor burn from that area with bumps), but there is discharge with a bad odor. I'm so scared it might be genital warts or something. At first, I thought it was crabs because of the white flakes and intense itching (sometimes it feels like the source of the itching is moving).

These symptoms started about a week or two after I was assaulted by a man (I managed to prevent him entering me, but his groin area made a lot of contact with mine). I'm so scared I might have contracted an STD by this encounter.

iv been having the same thing and am really worried. im only 14!!

been taking antibiotics for this skin infection on my leg for more than a week now. But then i had sex with my boyfriend and straight after my vagina started itching uncontrollably. The next day i noticed these things that look liked left over toilet paper kind of things but then when i tried to wipe it away, it just got worse. It was then i realised that it was my skin peeling. And im so scared that it might be something other than thrush or a yeast infection. I dont really want to tell my mum because then id get into trouble

I have been dealing with an itch so intense that it doesn't let me sleep and I cannot control. I have been tested for Genital herpes and it turned out negative. I was also tested for other std and they were also negative. I am 24 and have had the same sex partner for the past three years and we are faithful to each so I know I don't have anything that has to do with that. However, I have been dealing with this for the past 9 to 10 months and have gone to at least a half dozens appointments with three or four different doctors. I don't know what is wrong with me I just know I am sick and tire of having to scratch and wake up in the night and having to wash my hands a thousand times a day. I also feel like I shouldn't be scratching but I cannot stand it anymore. I have cuts and inflammation all over my vulva, clitoris and anus and don't what to do. I also that flaky thing going on (that someone above said looks like toilet paper). It hurts when I touch or wipe because my skin is so sensitve sometimes even when I pee or when I am taking a shower. I have cried over it so many times to my husband but we don't know what to do anymore. The first doctors told me it was a yeast infection gave me medication like that one pill and the cream and it calm down a little but my itch was still there. I have gotten prescribed cortisone and all these other things and they don't work. The last doctor told me she didnt know what it was but she was certain that it wasn't a yeast infection she even tested me for it. She told me to go to another doctor and get a more thorough examination and then let her know what was going on with me. There is another thing I don't know if it has to do with this but I think it does I have my period somewhat irregular and now I havent had my period in over 45 days and I am paranoid that I might be starting menopause but don't think so because of my age. Oh one last thing some my vaginal is really wet and sometime it feel so dry that I have to put water so it won't hurt as much when I am scratching. There is a little of a smell but that is mostly when I am scratching. I don't know if it is LS or menopause or cancer. I just want someone help. PLEASE! I am going to a whole new doctor and see what she said in two or three days. But please someone tell me what can I do meanwhile. Thank you.

Hi there, you said that you were going to your doctor--did your doctor help you out at all? I'd like to hear how it went for you. Please let me know if you have a moment. Thanks!

Yes - it is true that taking an antibiotic lots of people get a yeast infection. I get a yeast infection everytime! So tell your doctor you believe you get a yeast infection when you are on a course of antibiotic and he/she may give you something for it or tell you what will help out.

Hello ladies. :-) I saw a post where someone mentioned Herpes and wanted to give ya'll some personal experience information.

I was diagnosed a year and a half ago. Initially I thought I had a yeast infection brought on by antibiotics. It was the worst yeast infection ever. Within 2 days of the first signs I got a high fever and noticed large bumps, which seemed to me like bumps that come up when you scratch a consistantly damp area. I had EXTREMELY heavy discharge as well. Nothing helped in the slightest. I went to the er and was diagnosed there.

None of you ladies seem to have herpes, and not to frighten anyone, but it couldn't hurt to be checked. My initial outbreak was pretty severe but not everyone will be as bad as I was, and others will be worse.

I have a yeast infection now after being diagnosed with a couple infections found when I went to the er for spotting during pregnancy. My obg told me to use monistat. Been on it for a day and it seems a little better this morning. Going to try some benadryl today too.

Good luck ladies. Hope everyone feels better!
