I had the same symptoms and it did turn out to be Lichen Sclerosis. Don't let what you read on the web scare you. It is treatable but you must see your physician. I get flares once in awhile but almost always after taking antibiotics. One other thing to try is eat plain yogurt and reduce your sugar intake. Both will help if it is Candida.
I have the same symptoms as the first the woman in the first post. Red, itchy, raw looking skin, a peeling white layer of skin around it, and little bumps too. I went to see my doctor today and she looked at it briefly before saying it was a yeast infection. It's just not the kind that's inside the vagina, it's outside. Thus no discharge... And it was probably from having trapped moisture in the area when I was on my period the week before. I guess there are different kinds of yeast infections. Don't freak out too much! Whatever you have is most likely treatable. So go see a doctor as soon as possible.
Quest who is 14 years i have the exact same problem! why i wipe myself i find like small white crumples of tissue looking things were its like flaky skin but it doesnt seem to be as there like pasty- type things. I have a scaly rash and when i take a bath and use soap it becomes extremely red and sore . Ive had it for so many months now and seems to be getting worse as the day goes on! The rash is around my vagina and anus area but doesn't seem to be thrush as it looks like more of a nappy rash type thing! Im always wet were the rash is, especially when i wear tights or at night when im sleeping it becomes extremely moist. Im very hygenic and i use dettox soap which is supposed to fight away bacteria, so what can it be? I shaved down there before and the skin is so broken it just started to bleed! I dont want to go to the doctors as ive been the doctors for embarrasing things before and don't want to go through with it again! Im at the doctors quite alot as i always tend to have things as i seem to have a bad immune system. I also suffer from frequent water infections, does anyone know if it could be something to do with that? I have tried sudocrem and an E45 cream and bacterial soapes but its not making a difference. It always gets most itchy at night or after a bath and if i start itching then I cant stop and it becomes very wet and sticky were i itch. If i dont get a bath for a few days and dont use soap the rash seems to fade abit.. but ive tried loads of soapes so i cant be allergic to them all? & ive never had problems like this in the past untill about 5 months ago when i started to get this rash and thought nothing of it at first ! PLEASE HELP !! x
I feel so much better after reading this post!
I took antibiotics for 3 weeks to treat a kidney infection. i got some itching and i thought it was yeast infection, but i've had that before and it didn't look like this!
all the area around my vagina and anus is very red and flaky, and i thought it might be because of my period or an allergy to teh pads.. ( i usually use tampons, but i thought it was a bad idea if i had an infection). i'm using evra patches for contraception, and i thought it might have something to do with that, but reading everyones posts, it's most likely something related to humidity and antibiotics. looks like there's nothing to worry about! :-) i'll go to the doctor anyway.

okay girls!!! i've never taken antibiotics, so i can't be allergic to anything. I've also been tested very recently for STD's and it's not that.
but i find that it has something to do with excess moisture in that area, so try to avoid liners and sanitary pads WHEN EVER POSSIBLE
i sleep without underwear on, it helps a lot.
hope it helps girls.

Same problem i get a milder version of this right after my period but usually just treating it once with neosporin to help heal the dry damaged skin and then sleeping naked and putting baby powder on during the day to keep it dry will cause it to clear up in a day or two. Had it again this time but i was laid up in bed with a sinus infection and taking antibiotics. This time it is much worse though mainly because i couldn't treat it early like i normally do and i usually use baby powder during my period to help keep me dry. Didn't this time since i was sick, not sure if it's a yeast infection or not i usually just get raw red skin and itching around my anus never on my vagina imagine my surprise when my vagina suddenly flared up with heat and itching. Was odd it didn't burn just felt like someone was blowing hot air over my vagina the itching though was not pleasant. I have been treating it with a combination of cortizone and neosporin at night then baby powder during the day did this for two days very little improvement just a slight decrease in itching. this morning my mom found an old jock itch cream that had probably been in the cabinet for 7 years or so lol and i used that i applied it in the morning and almost immediately i noticed a decrease in itching and about an hour later noticed it wasn't as red now just a dark pink. Treated it again this afternoon and the burning and itching in my vagina is almost gone it only flares up again though not very strong if i touch or poke at it. The itching and light burning heat sensation is still around my anus though and my vagina is still a dark pink in color and just a little itchy. I have since run out of the jock itch cream really want some now it's itchy, there wasn't much in the tube to begin with i will be going to the store in the morning to get some more. Will try to remember to report if this works oh yea i don't have any discharge other than the norm so that was my main reason to be skeptical about it being a yeast infection. Though i suppose it could just be my outer skin instead of internal.
Hi girls, I just came across this forum and read all of your cries for help. I have a question many of you said you were going to see your dr., did you go see your dr. and has the irritations cleared up? What did you use or did you change something different to help resolve it? I don't have the irritation but would like to know what to use and do if it does come about or i hear from a gal friend that or guy that they have the same problems. Thank you all.
I have these symtoms and it seems to me the best thing is to be puchy with the GP nad ask for a referral. My situation also occurred after a kidney infection treated with strong antibiotics which lead to a severe thrush infection. The red raw patches are quite alarming and I feel are indicative of a different infection to those already experienced. I shall post on how I get on as I plan to be very firm on gaining a referral if necessar from my GP!!
i was wondering what the antiobiotic was called that you all were taking??
I had exactly the same problems as you, flaky skin around bottom, itchy vagina, nut I also had a sore throat and my taste buds went all fluffy and patchy. I rang the gp and was told that it was thrush. O thought that you were only ably to get thrush around the vagina, but you can also get it in the around bottom and in the mouth. I have been given some cream and pills by the gp but if it is not better in a few days I infortunately have to get it looked at :l
hope it helped someone as to what was wrong with them. X

You guys I have exactly the same problem!!!..
A year ago I was taking antibiotics tablets twice a day to treat acne..after awhile I've experienced vaginal itching so I stopped taking my antibiotics [thinking that it would help stop the itching]..after a couple months being off from it I realized I have yeast infection and self-treated with OTC vaginal cream and antifungal [monistat]..I was not able to finish my course of monistat and everything was all better so I thought hey maybe I'm all good...after a good more months which is almost over a year of my first incident it started itching again...I thought it was gonna go away so I didn't mind seeing a doctor since i've been busy with school, too. It went away and it would go on and off and IT IS SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE AND ITCHY..I've never had this kind of itch before compared to the first incident, I tried using antifungal cream again but it's just the same...now I have dry scaly skin, some stuble on the vulval area, and it burns to pee since scratching gave me some skin breakdown too, and now there's a certain smell, to it..it is gross!...it is a pain, and it is embarrassing!..I finally was able to make a doctor's appointment and I'll be seeing her next week..
How's everyone else, though?..any changes in condition?..

I have the same symptoms. Been to two different doctors. I was not on any antibiotics, but the symptoms started about two months ago. Intense burning sensation, itchiness, and redness on my vulva and around my anus. I've tried: 3 doses of Diflucan, terconazole, clotrimazole, diluted tea tree oil, and zinc oxide (Desitin); switched soaps, laundry detergents and pantiliners; sleeping with no underwear at night. Nothing has worked. Was tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea, negative. I saw my OB/GYN again a couple days ago, he took another culture for yeast, but he said I might have something called "vulvar vestibulitis." I looked it up, and honestly I'm not in pain, it just burns, and it's around my anus too. I'm going to try not wearing a pantiliner during the day at all (and bringing extra panties to change in at work -- I've always had a light discharge since puberty -- does anyone else have that problem?) and using A+D ointment at night. Honestly, it feels like a chemical burn that won't heal. I wish something would work.
I'm glad to find that i'm not the only one suffering from this!
I had to take antibiotics a couple weeks ago for a sinus infection...
i soon started noticing redness around my vagina but didn't think it was that big of a deal because i had gotten done with my period and i get red sometimes. i soon started to notice what looked to be toilet paper pieces( we had just got a new brand so i thought i was reacting to it) on my outer skin and it seemed really dry and now i have cracks that sometimes bleed and hurt and just realized the "toilet paper" is my skin!! i finally got sick of dealing with the itch and peeing and discovered i wasn't alone... it stinks that Christmas is coming up because there are some many sugary foods to eat =[
I plan on talking to my mom tomorrow and i have an appointment tomorrow so hopefully they can help me.
Thanks to all who have posted i was starting to get scared and being a teenager it makes it that much scarier.
