Hello all,
I am getting both my tubes removed in July as I had severe Toxic Shock Syndrome when I was 18. Im 31 years old now and am desperately trying to have a baby. Hearing that both my tubes have to be removed has put me into a very bad depression. I feel like the world has come to an end. :'( Worse thing is (thankfully) my best friends around me are all falling pregnant and experiencing motherhood and sometimes it feel as if i am retarded or abnormal (no offence to retarded ppl). Everyone tries to be extremely positive around me but sometimes it makes it worse. My husband is an amazing man that is EXTREMELY family orientated and wants a family very much. Although he is very supportive and loves me unconditionally im extremely insecure that i lose him as my lack of "falling Pregnant"
And suggestions?

Hello All,
I recently had to have both of my tubes removed and I'm wondering if anyone has done this and what the side effects are (other than the end to being able to get pregnant). I am extremely depressed about having had them removed and now I'm getting scared about what the side effects are - I've been searching for information, but haven't been able to find anything from someone who actually underwent the same procedure. Any information would be very appreciated.

IVF is the option for you now if you want to carry your own baby. It is not impossible to have your own baby. Doctors are very knowledgeable about IVF now more than ever. All that is needed is one ovary to get some eggs to have fertilized.
I just had one ovary and fallopian tube removed and my doctor told me that this will have no effect on fertility. In fact, the remaining ovary will adjust to the loss of the other ovary and ovulate every month. However, I have noticed feeling extra emotional since the surgery, but I think this is related to general anathesia and not hormonal changes.
FYI- I had an ovary and tub removed when I was 18. everyone told me it would be okay but reality is that less than 10 years later I still do not have children. I have been trying for over 3 years and the doctor thinks the possible infertility could be due a number of things. BUT probably the scar tissue and continuous cyst ruptures/liasions I most occurred undetected.
I have one last procedure to help determine my problem however even this procedure could cause complications/scar tissue. With all the doctors I have seen, I get the sense that even the most educated still don't have a great understanding of cysts and cyst related problems. Plus, new medical advancements/research are always changing the current preception in the field. Moral of the story-why worry? you can never really know until a baby is born. There are so many options out there to have a child. JUST START SAVING $$$$ FOR POSSIBLE PROCEDURES AND READ SOME BOOKS ON PATIENCE

I was born with one tube and one ovary and have 2 beautiful children, they are now 15 & 18. I would not even worry, if children are meant for the future, it will happen. I have never had to take hormones and everything seems to work fine.
My daughter is 19 and has to have her right ovary and fallopian tube removed because of various adhesions and cysts. What are her chances of having a successful pregnancy in the future? And, what are the difficuties women with one ovary and fallopian tube face? Will she be required to take hormones?

I had my left ovary and fallopian tube removed in June 2008 due to endometriosis. It's now August 4th and I just had a positive pregnancy test this afternoon. Don't worry about your daughter-- this condition hasn't affected my fertility and it probably won't affect hers either!
I had one removed in 1999 when I 19 what if I get another cyst on my other ovary would that be considered a hysterectomy or a partial, will I have to take hormones?
On had surgery (the day you wrote your post actually- 5/8/08) and had my left ovary and tube removed due to reoccurring ovarian cysts. I had had surgery to just remove the cyst Aug. 20, 2008 but it came back. We had been trying to get pregnant since 02/2007. Anyway, in June 2008 I got pregnant, only a month after the surgery. Now I'm 16 1/2 weeks along and everything is going well. I blame my not getting pregnant right away when we first started trying on the cyst itself. I think the cyst was preventing a pregnancy to occur, and once that issue was taken care of, we were good to go.... and with only one working ovary. Best of luck to you!
hey all, my aunty had her right ovary removed when she was 19 and had 4 healthy children so there is a good sign, for myself im 22 and have alot of ovary problems since i was 14 i luckely after 5 pregnancy's finally got my little girl now im waiting to get my right ovary removed. i know sometimes the pain is horrible but if you are that worried sometimes you have to push through the pain. i was terrified i was 16 when they first wanted to remove my ovary but i didnt, just in case i was one of the unlucky ones and now looking at my little girls face i would not change a thing. just some thing to think about :-)
I had my right overy and fallopian tube removed at the age of 13. At the age of 22 I gave birth to my first child. I didn't have any problem getting pregnant at all. I now have 3 children ages 13, 11 and 7 with out any fertility drugs just good old sex. My hubby does say it's because he has some fast swimmers. ha ha
I had my Ovary removed about a week ago, before this I had a very large cyst of 15cms on my ovary they took that off about a month ago, then decided to take the whole ovary out to reduce problems for me in the future. (Im 17) They told me that you can get pregnant just as much as you would be able to if you had two ovaries. :-)
When I was 12, I had a huge cyst on my left ovary that needed to be removed. They also removed my fallopian tube. I have regular menstrual cycles, but was wondering if I will go into menopause earlier than 'normal'. I am now 29. I have had no children(I haven't tried) and my mom started going through the change at age 51. Thank you.
