I am from India, 31 years male and had a septorhinoplasty (open) 2 weeks ago - had a deviated septum straightened, hump top left removed and bulbous-drooping tip elevated/narrowed (doc said he used a cartilage). He didnt use a splint and had the bandages removed 5th day of the surgery. Sutures were removed 9 day of the surgery (removing the sutures was more painful and I opted for local anaesthesia when removing the sutures). My nose is now bloated and the swelling is asymetrical. I am hoping the swelling subsides in about 2 months time and does leave a assymetrical nose as earlier.

I am back to give an update after 9 months. The nose definitely looks much better than the time I wrote the post but my nose is crooked and nostril is still uneven. The final verdict is I am going for a revision on next Thursday 7 /24. I bridge is way too nigh and the nose somehow just changed the way I looked. So I pray this time the right ps will correct and make me look like me again. I'll be back for updates but aim so not ready for the recovery again!

Hello Faithful! I also had rhinoplasty with Edward Kwak and am afraid that I am having a similar experience and concerns. I am sorry that your results were not satisfactory and I hope your revision went really well. Did you have revision rhino with Edward Kwak (was he willing to do it) or did you go to a different surgeon (for personal reasons). I look forward to your updates. Good luck with recovery until then!

Thank you to YOU and EVERYONE in this forum. Thank God I found this forum. It is good to know that we can all be here for each other and will not have to go through this alone. Reading your stories and comments has helped me sleep for the first time in four days and stopped some of the tears from falling. Thank you!

Went for my post-op visit with Doctor Edward Kwak today and I realized all of my anxiety was premature. He is A GREAT surgeon and person and I would recommend him to anyone. I have researched and met with surgeons for years and I have to say he is the best and I am happy with my decision.

He takes the time to listen to all of my concerns and to explain EVERYTHING and he really cares for his patients - he wants you to be happy and comfortable throughout the entire process. My nose is already starting to look much better and I am feeling a bit better. I am pleased with the minimal changes so far and cannot wait to see the final results.

Thank you Edward Kwak!

Hi all,

I had a nose sugary 2 month ago, and now after two month, my nose is very swollen. I did the surgery in Turkey and stayed there for one month after the surgery. During my stay in Turkey, my nose was good and I had no problem. Then I came back to Sydney and my nose started to swallow and now whole tip looks REALLY swollen. I am really concerned; please let me know how I can reduce the swelling.

Thanks

Can't agree more with your post. They have no accountability for the bad rhinoplasties they perform. I researched my surgeon a ton before I had it done, but even I wasn't prepared for the overall shock of the first site of my nose after the cast removal. Once the cast was removed the doctor and nurse didnt hand me the mirror. I said can I see my nose and he said quote "You really want to go looking at yourself in a mirror'? As if I was being superfical for asking?? (its like i just paid you 6K to do my nose and you won't let me see it) Right there before I even saw myself my heart sank and I knew there was no way he uncovered something pretty. I then saw the devastation. My nose if you even call it that was completey hooked, the right side of bridge had a new huge petruding bump (that was never there before) and my tip was dented from the right side that now hooked, my nostrils completly uneven and the tip had a new round bulbous deformed apperance. Literally I looked like a character in a horror film. Now I knew why they didnt hand me the mirror.

Its been over 3 weeks since and still no improvement. I keep expecting to wake up and be back to normal, but it does not happen. Its just really devasting and sad because I did this all over the smallest bump on the top portion of my nose. I had always felt if this bump was removed my side view would be so much better. Boy was I wrong. My surgeon did not follow our "conservative less is more plan". He decided to shave the bump, but not break the bones to narrow the bridge because he said he felt it fit my face. Then even though he knew I loved my tip and was not supposed to touch my tip he said when he took a look inside one of my cartilage wings was not connected to the septum so he decided to suture it to the septum (the middle part of nose). He performed an open rhinoplasty and cut the columella to lift the skin in order to operate. He did not put the columella back to the normal length or position. It literally looks like I have a columella on top of a stub of skin, it is beyond obvious to anyone looking a my nose that I had a nose job since he basically left it looking sloopy and not smooth. So paid over 6K to look absolutely terrible. It looks nothing like the avatar 4d imaging we did, nothing like the 2d and nothing like we discussed. I believe that was thrown out the window once he went in. It became his control and sadly he forgot that I wanted a minor not drastic hardly noticeable change. Now 3 weeks out I addressed the new "hooked nose" that HE GAVE me. I said is this going to go away and go back to being straight and he literally said "I don't know, cartilage can do funny things only time will tell." I love how now he is telling me this but yet before my surgery it was "I am super conservative just gonna shave down the bump the slightest bit no one will even notice you had anything done." Fast forward to 3 weeks out and the answers are vague and very PC.

Where is their accountabilty I mean really? So your only answer is your gonna have to wait and see. Its easier said than done. I had to cancel going to a family members wedding, haven't returned to work because my nose is not my nose if that makes sense. My poor husband married a gorgeous women that now has a "shnozz". He feels so bad for me because he knows how excited I was to finally get the bump shaved down and now he too wishes I just had the old nose back. I believe the surgeon needed to break the bones after the shave so it didnt leave this wide hooked apperance from the front now and by him suturing that cartilage back to the middle made my nose take on a rounder blulbous shape at the tip which it has never had in the 30 years of my life. Those 2 huge mistakes has lead to an absolutely unrecognizable me. I would give anything to go back in time and never go under the knife but I can't. I don't know if any of you out there also feel like you are being punished for spending money on something vain. I honestly feel like that now. There should be rules in place and doctors should be held accountable for not listening to the patients goals and performing bad nose jobs. Seriously this guy just got 6k to completly botch my nose and I'm supposed to be ok with that? How is that fair? How is there no refund or even slight return on something so expensive? Plus if its needs a revision which by the look of this awful shape it will how am I supposed to put my hand back in pocket and pay for him to fix this disaster??? I don't have 6k just lying around to blow on another surgery. Does anyone know of any laws out there that protect us?

Hey I had the same techniques done. The Dr. narrowed my base, and made the tip smaller. I am at 4 weeks now. I used to get compliments on looks but now no one compliments me. I feel like I also made a mistake. How is your nose now? I hope by week 9 I will look good again. I just look sooo different than I did.
