I just read your comment and it sounds exactly how I am feeling and looking right now. I just wanted to ask as this post was over a year ago, did it get better and how long did it take? I'm really upset at the moment I feel like the nose looks piggish and I look like the grinch. I got mine done 8 days ago and now I'm wishing I'd never gone ahead with it.

After a nose job, people usually wear a nasal splint for the first week. You can expect swelling and some bruising around the eyes after surgery that will begin to improve after the third day. It can, though, last up to two weeks.
Expect your nose to have a little swelling, which probably only you and your surgeon will notice. This will go away over the next six months. The final shape of your nose will be apparent after it has completely healed.

On Thursday July 20th 2017 I underwent Septorhinoplasty. My severe deviated septum was corrected, my hump was removed, cartilage was placed in the space between my eyes to help straighten out my nose, the tip of my nose was upturned and more defined/narrowed. So it’s safe to say that I’ve had a lot of work done. When it comes to bruising and swelling on the eyes and face, I think I might have been one of the luckiest people out there. I woke up Friday morning with two 1 cm bruises under my eyes, which were gone when I woke up Sunday morning. The swelling that also started on Friday, was gone by the time Monday rolled around. So I’ve had bruises for 2 days and swelling for 3 days. Which is absolutely insane when you take the amount of work I had done into account.
It was mostly this that made me hopefully naive. You see I was perfectly informed about the recovery time. I knew the whole ordeal; 6-8 weeks until 80% of the swelling is gone and the remaining swelling will subside in the following year, the tip of the nose being the last that will fully recover. And to be honest, I was prepared to be unpresentable for at least 4 weeks. But I subconsciously (and wrongly) assumed that because the swelling on my face was so minimal, it would also be very minimal on my nose. And to be honest, nothing prepares you for the disappointment you feel the first time you see your new nose in the mirror. Sure you know it’s not the end result, but you still hope it’ll at least be a step in the right direction. It wasn’t my surgeon who took the cast off seven days later, but a nurse and when she told me I could look in the mirror, I couldn’t get there fast enough. You can probably imagine my shock when I saw how horrible my nose looked, I absolutely hated it. I might be a tad dramatic but it literally felt as if the clock stopped ticking and the world stopped spinning. I looked (and still look) like a duck, nothing more and nothing less. I’ve wanted Rhinoplasty since I knew that was a possibility in the first place and I spent a lot of money on it, this wasn’t the outcome I hoped for. The bridge of my nose is way too high, the tip is enormous and quite frankly, my nose basically just looks like a piece of meat that was just slapped onto my face. No shape or definition whatsoever. And the worst part: It’s still the first thing you see when you look at me.
Now 2 days later, I can’t say much has changed. The last couple days have been an emotional rollercoaster but I’ve slowly been regaining faith. It’s a long process after all and I have an amazing surgeon who I completely trust.
I’m sorry to the people who weren’t exactly waiting for a novel-length post but I just had to get it off of my chest. And if anyone is interested in updates I’ll gladly give them!
