I Have had hernia surgery twice on right side and one on the left about 7 years ago. The one on the left was botched by the dr and left a trapped nerve.! Of coarse he would not own up to it. I had it done again hoping that the expert Dr. in Cleveland Clinic would be able to solve the problem. He was not able to. I got a hold of the dr who did a repair on my right side and he left the medical profession to be an acupuncturist. He told me that the dr. trapped a nerve and that I had to find the best surgeon in the country and even then there was a 50-50 chance It would be better or maybe be worse! He was upfront with me because I believe he was out of the loop! I go to an accupuncturist almost every week and he is able to keep the pain down so I can funtion pretty good! IF I Go several weeks with out a treatment the major pain will return! I was hoping the treatments would one day cure the problem but I dont think it will ever go away unless I keep on it. I go to accupuncture for other things to begin with weekly so he isnt keeping me coming for repeat service. I was going anyway long before the problem. The Dr. do stick up for each other and I disagree with the comments that thats normal! If I had a friend who was messing up i would not stick up for him. Dr's are suppose to off the highest ethics! Most are not and are medical drug oriented! When I went back the the dr who caused the trapped nerve, he immediately tried to blame it on me, saying I was not able to endure pain enough and wanted me to take a drug to help me deal with pain better. I was so disgusted I gave up on going to him any further. Sure Dr. goof up sometimes and if he would of just been up front with me I would of been alright with that and asked for assistance to help me maybe solve the problem or help the situation. Instead he treated like a second class citizen if you know what I mean. I remember waking up during the surgery and they were surprised and gave me some juice and put me back out. I may have moved or something during that time.... My primary Dr told me that he has to try and fix the butcher jobs drs do like in my case. Who ever you are try acupuncture. It has helped me greatly and in many other areas as well when medical drs had given up on my conditions.

I've had a indirect inguinal hernia removal surgery last month and I've went through terrible pain on my right testicle on 2nd and 3rd weeks after the surgery ,, I've even searched internet for a solution ,, bt no one has ever posted a comment who is cured completely ,, after that I went to my family doctor (who is not the doctor who removed the hernia)with the diagnostics card and he examined the situation and gave me some tablets and said me that the pain will go off in two weeks ,, now its 2 months passed and I'm completely feeling well,, I feel pain on my right testicle sometimes but its not unbearable and its a tiny pain ,, I think every body who have went through hernia surgery s and having testicle pain should pay a visit to their doctor and fix things out :-| :-|

I had hernia surgery with "biologic mesh" 9 days ago. I complained the day after surgery of severe testicle pain and finally, today, I got an ultrasound order and had it done. Doctor killed my left testicle, confirmed no blood flow by ultrasound. If you have any pain at get an IMMEDIATE ULTRASOUND. YOUR TESTICLE CAN DIE IN LESS THAN 12 HOURS IF BLOOD FLOW IS LOST.

I also had hernia surgery 3 weeks ago, and I have never experienced such pain or suprises as to see my whole scrotum to look like a bulls set of balls. I had the surgery done on my right side. I was told to expect some swelling but was shocked to have the swelling that I did have. I figured the right side would swell some but both sides was unreal. It finally went down after two weeks, but my right testicle is still swallon and is at leat 2 to 3 times bigger then the left and is so sensitive. Also sex is been different. The doctor told me it was ok to go a head and have sex but not to exotic. LOL Well just normal sex took me for ever to get off. Then the next time I was not able to even have an orgasm. This whole thing is really starting to worry me. Right testicle hurts like hell and then sex is not the same. I have a beautiful girlfriend that I need to keep happy. Turning 50 sucks everything starts falling apart. Will be calling my surgen today, and maybe even my regular doctor also. Thanks for all the great post.

I am sorry that some of you had to deal with your pains. I have an inguinal hernia on right side. My left testicle is very poor and small. Nothing that I can do about my left testicle because I had infection twice from using the condoms in different times. What a dull thing like that...

Now, I am very concerned about your issue because I plan to have the surgery to fix my problem this year. I am real disappointed to read your posts especially doctors might be not doing a good job in the surgery. I assume that the doctors have so many patients everyday, and they are addicted busy in their mind just like eating supper - I think you know what I mean.

Do you ever think that Salt Epsom in your hot bathtub for 20 minutes two times a day might be your solution?

Have you thought about a cold laser treatment? (It is not a laser that you see on TV or Star War movies.) Fortunately, many chiropractors have the cold laser in their service. It reduces the swelling and pains. But, I am not so sure about the testicle using the cold laser. Can you please find out about it? Note, many hospitals do not have a cold laser treatment. A few years ago, I had that laser for my back problem at a chiropractor's office, and it helped me to feel better. Seriously, the cold laser does not harm me or no sting or pain at all.

Please let me know what you think of the cold laser and Salt Epsom in bathtub. Wish you the best healthy... Always keep in a good shape...

Did you have a swollen testicles too ? i had operation to correct hernia 10days ago and one of my testicle is 4 times bigger than it used to be..Am really worried..will it get back to normal

Unfortunately, no. Your other one should be fine. Your swollen one was caused by a twisted vas deferens.

Almost all hernias are fixed that have no guarantee that could return in the upper body - especially you lift some heavy objects. It is good thing that you had the surgery to prevent it otherwise you would die from the swollen testicle.

There is no stem cells for this problem yet because the process is very complicated in order to "seal" the blood vessel belts or the muscles. The stem cells are also a way to make the testicle grow and replace it with your damaged testicle.

A long story in short, it is too controversial from crazy politicians. This is a big misunderstand and is still going on. Many churches told us that it kills the baby. This is all wrong. It's all about the umbilical or afterbirth. It has absolutely nothing to do with the baby. I do not know why they said bad things in the wrong information.

It is very common that the pain is from the needle that poked to cut thru your muscles (and the nerves). That's why we need the stem cells to eliminate the needle problem. There is no other way around it because the surgery method is very old that go back in 1950's (?). I believe that there are three type of mesh patches for the surgery which are: a plastic with holes on it, a plastic-cloth, and one more I don't remember. A mesh last 14 years due the bacteria build-up.

There are other type of pains that could be the doctor's errors and others. Nothing is perfect. Hopefully, some doctors would afford to buy a better technology and stem cells research. Another story, a greedy FDA (rip-off fees) and patents (too long time for approvals) are the problem.

Maybe, a cold laser treatment might be the answer to reduce your pain.

Unfortunately a lot of people are having issues with their hernia operations. There are many lawsuits going on , just check the internet to find a lawyer willing to take your case. As for the testicle pain, it is a common side effect of the hernia operation. Some people are even losing their ability to have children because the mesh is blocking the tube from the testicles to the prostate. I hope this helps a bit. I had an operation five years ago and have had issues with it ever since. I have had a hard time doing many things and due to this had to apply for disability where i live. I have had a very hard time getting a Doctor to listen to my issues as well, i have even moved provinces to try and find a new doctor willing to help me. The last doctor i was talking with told me that i couldn't receive an operation without ending up with a colostomy bag. I have seen at least 30 doctors, including specialists, and still really haven't been heard in this issue. I hope you can all find your answers and hopefully you can get on the lawsuits and possibly get help. What i recommend is getting a hold of newspapers and television news programs so that we may be able to quicken the process of getting this issue resolved. Truthfully this technology was rushed and not properly researched and now we are all paying the price. If anyone has extra information, please post here and let me know.

I had Surgery for Inguinal, and Left side repair with Mesh. - 4/7/08
Near 2 weeks now, Left Testile is 3 times its noromal size. I cannot sit in chair. I have been packing Ice on it throughtout most of days. I go back to see Surgeon on Next Tuesday. After READING all these posts, does not give me a warm comforting feeling. My job is all sitting. No way I can do this for hours on end. I hope he has a good answer for me then.

I note that many people are logging in as "Guest"... why is that? Afraid to own up to your problems? How can you condemn doctors for being cautious if you yourself also do the same?

I am sorry you have having difficulties post surgical procedures. But NO surgury is 100% complication proof. No doctor can predict what your body is going to do or react. All they can do is react to your input on what you are experiencing. If it is not what they expected, you should be surprised if there's some back peddling.
So what if he's angry at hearing they is a problem. Ignore that. Get your answers. Tactfully, demand satisfaction. If you are in pain, stay in his face until you two have worked out a plan to deal with the complication.

If your job requires you to sit for long periods, then it is high time you got up regularly and walked around. TELL YOUR DOCTOR how this is impacting your life. He will work to reduce the discomfort, the impact, the pain. That's his job.

If you are seriously dissatisfied with your doctor, switch. Tell your new doctor right up front why you are changing to him/them. Don't whine and complain about a collegue... you wouldn't put up with it if a member of the public came to you about your coworker, so don't put them in that possition. Instead, tell them frankly about your pain, the complication, and what minimum you expect from them. Tell them if your former doctor could not or would not assist, and why you left. But don't make it a littany of complaints about this and then that and then he said. Just make the point. Ask if they can help.

You might be surprised to find that the sollution is easier than you thought.
You might also find that there is no immediate solution, but something that will work over time and with changes to your lifestyle. Remember, swallowing a pill doesn't always work. Work WITH your doctor.

Hope this helped all of you "Guests" who didn't sign your name or personal ID above.

If you can answer the question you should reply otherwise don't waste your time. This post is not about how to handle your doctor. Move on. I have had the same problem after 6 months. Large testicle and the other one has shrunk. This is accompanied by pain at the site of the incision sometimes especially when I do the same activity. exercise regularly seems to help especially knee raises. I also get pain in the muscles around the the hip and the lower back near the hip sometimes. My feeling is that it doesn't feel strong.

I'm in a different profession (non medical) but similar as for training, schooling and expertise.  The average person in my field thinks they're great, but their really not very good at all.  And if there is a problem, they never think it's their fault.  And if they think it might be, they will never admit it, because admitting it means less advancement, lower pay and loss of reputation.  In other words, they would rather live a lie than to be honest and admit their mistakes.  They would also rather be lazy than to work hard to learn.  I'm sure doctors are exactly the same.  Most are not that good but they want the high pay, so they'll never admit it.  In a sense, it's freekin fraud.

Oh, and by the way, I had my hernia repair four monts ago and it hurts 10 times more now than it did before the repair.  I'm sure the doctor f-ed it up.  Why?  Because the doctor is a f-up.  He should loose his damn license.
