I had double hernia repair done 2 weeks ago and my right testicle is swollen and causing extreme pain. I consulted with a surgeon on duty because my origional one was not available and he said i should try to wait it out due to the fact that it might go away. I am wondering if anyone has any idea how long i should "wait it out" for before I continue to push for an answear. Any feed back would be appreciated.

I went to this site as I am having pain in the hernia surgery area and in my left testicle (it was on my left side) 3 months after surgery. i was fine in a month with no pain, but woke up one morning about two weeks ago with a mild pain in the surgery area. It seems tender now and as I said my left testicle is tender as well. Reading on here, this seems a common problem. I keep hoping it will go away and am taking naproxen for the pain. I guess I'll go see my doctor in another week or so if it doesn't go away, but that doesn't sound very helpful from what I am reading on here.

I’m also dealing with the same problem. I had open double Hernia surgery 3 weeks ago! My left side wasn’t as bad as my right. Left side was a quick fix; it didn’t have to be repaired with mesh. My right side on the other hand was full blown and had to be repaired using double mesh! My left testicle is back to normal. My right on the other hand looks like a goose egg. I’m not in any pain. I’m freaked out because I set a budget aside to be out of work no longer than 6 weeks! Please if anyone can shoot me some good news on my striation.

Problems with mesh are very common. There is a surgeon in Las Vegas who repairs the damage, for very low cost. My husband just had surgery there and they treated us great. Look up "No Insurance Surgery."

My experience with post-surgery pain and swollen testes was bad at first but is now turning out well.  I had recurrent hernia surgery eight weeks ago and experienced many of the same problems reported here and elsewhere--blood in scrotum, swollen testicle, and sharp pains around incision doing almost anything, even sitting or getting in and out of bed.  Surgeon and nurse told me this sometimes happens so just hang in there.  Things kept getting a little worse each week, however.  I began to worry about long-term pain and even disability.

Five weeks after surgery things abruptly started getting better.  A week or two later I felt almost normal again.  Still some swelling but not much pain; doing lots of walking and now confident of a full recovery.  Pain can last much longer, so I was lucky, but apparently most folks eventually come out well.  Feedback from surgeon and nurse definitely are important.

I had an abdominal hernia surgery few months back at Shouldice hospital in Ontario. It’s been 3 months after the surgery and still I haven’t faced anything like this. I guess there might be some issue with your surgery or it might some post surgery symptoms. You have to be careful in choosing the right clinic for your surgery or repair, it can seriously affect the result.
