As long as you do it on the far side of the race course so as not to interfere with the rest of us, I don't have a peeve with you. :fubby:
That would be the brotha in the Audi who nearly turned left into me when I had the right of way this afternoon in downtown Minneapolis. He didn't like it when I stared him down and kept right on going as he stopped in the middle of the intersection.
Bottom line: inconsiderate drivers! (I run 90% of my runs downtown).

People telling me I'm going to destroy my knees by running.
(They may be right, but I don't want to hear it!)
(They may be right, but I don't want to hear it!)
That was a fave of mine at my old job. Usually those concerned for my knees were overweight smokers. I never said "what about your heart, lungs or even YOUR knees?" I just smiled.
I have two...
First when running on a the left shoulder of a road and a car swerves/floats on to that shoulder causing me sudden panic and wonderment 8O . The drivers don't seem to understand my anger with this ...
Second fellow runners who run with traffic on a busy road, I understand it helps with pain on the "leftside lean" but it is dangerous... "Run against traffic, ride with it!"

walkers on a track,
cars that angle for you on a rainy day when there are puddles.

rocky/eye of the tiger songs during races
"you go girl" chants at races, I hear it so much it nauseates me.

People that are overweight and hearing that I run tell me they need to run with me....then spend the next 10 minutes grilling me about when I run (5am), what I do, etc and then at the end of the conversation say, "it's too early."
I don't have a problem with people that are overweight/out of shape (I used to be one) BUT, don't keep asking me questions about what I do and et al and then just quit before even trying to run with me a bit....

walkers on a track, The penguin from Runners world magI've given up on track etiquette. I just run around the walkers in the 1st 3 lanes who are walking 2-3 abreast. No particular reason but I don't care for the penguin either.
Where I live, the sun goes down at 4:30 PM. I'm too lazy to run before work, and running in the dark is kind of annoying.
Of course, in the summers the sun sets at 10:30 PM, which is kind of nice.
Also, dog poo.

My biggest pet peeve: running on campus at the University of Arizona. People take up the entire sidewalk, walking three or four abreast. Often - I kid you not - I will say "excuse me" or "behind," they will turn and look at me and then they will continue walking. Last September I got so upset I pushed through two girls and yelled a few expletives as they ate my dust. I do not get why it is so difficult for walkers to move the heck over.
People everywhere have poor sidewalk ettiquette. I think the best thing to do is take it as a sign that you should get off the sidewalk. Almost all sidewalks are concrete, which is a brutally hard surface to run on. Get on the grass on the side, or run in the street if traffic is light. I run on campus occasionally and I avoid sidewalks like the plague - it will save you time and aggravation, and maybe your joints. I've found that shouting warnings is worthless. It takes people too long to process what you want them to do, so it's easier to just go around. Not to mention "behind" and "excuse me" aren't exactly clear on what you want them to do. Try yelling "on your left" or similar.
I have the same complaint that most of the others have - I live in the DC area and run on the paths along the water.... It's a great run that can go on for miles and the scenery is amazing! Most people understand the etiquette with bikers, walkers, and runners all sharing the same path. However, there is always a day when I'm running and someone is not sharing the path! It drives me crazy! Take this evening - I was running and came up behind 3 ladies walking, all side by side, and taking up well over half of the path. As I am about to pass by them a biker is coming towards us on his side....the ladies caused the biker to have to slow down due to the small space he had left on his side and they caused me to slow my pace so I could wait for the biker to pass before I could get in front of them. And the best part is that they are oblivious to all of this and just continue chatting away!
