Have them removed surgically. That's what I did. The cause for them is that the passageway that carries oils to keep the skin moisturized gets blocked. Removing them is quick and they don't come back.

i am 28 and have also had these cysts- they are usually really small and no problem but occasionally they one gets irritated and grows to the size in between a pea and bb. you can removed these easily. it hurts but is definately worth getting rid of them when they occur. what you do is get a very very sharp knife, it has to be high quality like a brand new pocket knife or a razer blade, put your finger under your sack where the cyst is and push it tight, now clinch your teeth and cut a small slice just across the top or side of the cyst. the skin is tuff to cut so dont give up-when you break thru the sist will pop out all its goo, just like a zit-i like this way better than digging the ball out-much less invasive, and it heals alot quiker, do it in the shower so the blood doesnt cover what your doing.

dudes, you have to cut the top of them with a very very sharp blade, and they pop right out-be brave and dont give up-the skin is tuff so you have to make sure your slice penitrates, make the cyst tight by placing finger under it-i poped one last night-make sure your in the shower so the blood doesnt cover what your doing-it hurts but is much cheaper than having a doc do it. and slice dont dig when you slice it will pop the rubbery puss out and heal quik, if you dig you will get a ball that rips out and leaves a deep hole-both work, but the slice is alot more pleasent. this only works if the blade is razor sharp. ive been doing this to my large ones for ten years. i only seem to get them occasionally, and the form to pea size very abruptly. slice them! self surgery is the way to go.

I had large pea sized cyst that developed around the age of 16 or 17. It was embarassing to the point I would have sex with my boxers on. I lived with it until the age of 20 when I finally told my parents about it and they took me to the dermatologist who removed it a few days later. Just two stitches from the surgery and it was never came back. Although I have had what appeared to be cysts forming later, usually just squeezing really hard removed the puss and nothing further came of those particular ones.

I know these have to do with the blockage of pores, hair follices etc., from what I've read. The time that mine developed I had started shaving my pubic region, scrotum and all and I truly feel that an ingrown hair was the cause of my cyst. It started out as a pimple like feature and I treated it as such squeezing it, but I think it actually made it worse due to the inflammation and probably further blockage of the follicle.

Anyone suffering from these, I would highly recommend going to an established dermatologist and having it removed. It will save you a whole lot of anxiety sexually. I'm 26 now and am so glad I built up the courage to go see the Dr. about it. As a previous poster said, after you have went and had it taken care of by a Dr. and have a normal looking scrotum you will feel silly that you had reservations. BTW, my scare is barely noticable... a whole lot less noticable than it was when there a pea sized cyst there.

I have had these sebaceous cysts from the age of about 16(i am now 35)and like most i was mortified about what these where at first.I plucked up the courage to go see a doctor who referred me to a dermatologist, which was when i found out these in my case where sebaceous cysts.DO NOT BE EMBARRASSED about getting these seen to, i was at first,as who wants to get there balls out for some strange doctor? but really it aint that bad.
U will most likely be made to book an outpatient appointment where a surgeon will freeze an area and remove any larger 1`s then put a couple of stitches in.I have had this procedure done about 5 times in my life and i cant tell u how much i felt better having them removed.I would advise not to try removing them ureself as it can become inflamed and then u can have even worse problems than what u started with,im assuming those who have done it themslves just didnt have the courage to go see a doctor.
So if u where like me and embarrassed about getting these seen to dont be,go to ure doctor and get this simple procedure done.Trust me after uve been u will wonder what all the fuss was about.
Hope this helps some who are suffering with these cysts...

I am now in my 30's and have had sebaceous cysts longer than I can remember. After reading these posts, I went to my GP who referred me to Urology. After a quick 5 minute check, the doctor said he can remove them at a day procedure centre. So I am booked in and have them out next week.

Cost to see Urologist: $320
Doctors fee on the day: $474.50
Hospital Fee: $879 (incl. anaesthetic etc.)

Not be graphic, but if you are in search for the right answers, I have pics I can send to you.

before and as of next week - after.

If you know they are cysts i would recommend doing it yourself so long as your confident in yourself. its barely painfull and anybody should b able to do this. i jus used a simple pin sterilized, push the cyst so you can see the general outline, n slowly push it in the top of the cyst u will know when you have punctured it because u will b able to see the pin head inside the white bump. i usually spun the pin around a few times to soften the white texture up. once youv made that hole u can easily squeeze the white matter out.

For removing the actual cyst wall itself, i jus dug a piece of it out n pulled it out n off, the cyst wall is quite tough skin, n will requre some force. but i just did 3 tonite n they already look 100% better.

thanx to this forum great help!! :D

i have this problem too. i had one and i got it out on my own, now a pee sized one and two other very small ones have appeared a couple of years down the line...i went to my local gp and they referred me to the lumps and bumps department where they will be removed soon. the sweat and hair glad are one and its when the sweat has no where to go due to the pour being blocked and the sweat hardens into a rubbery form that other people are talking about. i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself because it is painful and not for the faint hearted like me. good luck for everyone and i hope it works out for you :-D

I'm simply just posting, not quoting on anyone.

Get them removed by your doctor! I had it done yesterday because I had three on my scrotum. One was the size of a mini m&m and the other two were about 1/4 that size. The procedure took 10 minutes, no pain at all, no pain during recovery, no pain even right after its done. I delt with this problem for about 1 year and just got tired of looking online for home remedies, they don't work. Go to your urologist, he'll tell you its common, he'll schedule you an appointment, he'll remove them, you'll shake his hand, you'll go home and go on with life. I'm 21 years old and refuse to deal with this BS. Even if you have more that three or more than 12, go to your doctor. He's there to help you with this. These stitches will fall out on their own in 2 weeks. He even gave me percocet if there was any pain. However i'm being 110 percent honest...THERE'S NO PAIN!I feel great and am happy this little dilemma is over. Quit spending time looking online and trying weird sh*t to remove them, when in two weeks this can all be done and over with if you just man up and go to your doctor. My balls look great now haha. Help yourself by letting your UROLOGIST (don't go to anyone else) help you. Thank you

I'm 26 and have had cysts since my early teenage years. Now i have around 20 of them. My doctor told me years ago to just ignore them. Another doctor told me the same thing, and since i don't have health insurance, I decided to just live with them. But once i visited this website, and saw all your advice, i decided to try self surgery. All my attempts failed. I managed to drain a cyst just once (but not take out the seed). Every other time i tried it using my needle, only blood came out. Maybe i'm not being aggressive enough. Maybe i'm not using the right technique. I don't know what i'm doing wrong. If anyone has any advice or a video or something they can show me, i'd appreciate it.

I took the time to read the whole thread just to make sure before I posted, but I really do think my experience is a little different from everything else I've seen. Here's how it happens with me:

I do have a couple little bumps on my scrotum, each about the size of a BB; but also get little bumps behind my ears that I was told were sebaceous cysts. Everything I've read about these cysts makes it seem plausible they could occur there as well as other places on the body...anywhere there is hair and oil. When they are behind my ear, they are never any larger than an average pimple, and they always pop like a pimple with a firm squeeze, but the consistency of the discharge is much different. It's not rubbery, as some have posted here, but it is a thicker substance than the pus that comes from a zit, and it always smells horrible...a fungal smell, quite a bit like some of the more horrible varieties of cheese. I've always assumed they were fungal in nature, much like athlete's foot is, until I started reading about them.

In the past, I've had two other bumps on my scrotum that have mysteriously appeared and hung around for a few months without going away fairly quickly like a zit or ingrown hair usually does. But even those eventually did come to a head on their own and I was able to squeeze them out and they healed up easily. The consistency of the discharge was thick and white, not exactly like a zit but also not like the tiny cysts behind my ears. Once they were completely drained, they never came back. I was in my late 20's when the first one appeared, and it was several years before I saw another (I'm now 41). Right now, as I already mentioned, I have two that have been with me for many months and don't seem to want to come to a head on their own. I've given a little thought to some kind of self-inflicted surgical attempt, but not very serious thought. There are only two, and no one else has even noticed them, so besides being a minor annoyance whenever I have to touch that area and remember about them (like showering) for me they've not been that much trouble. Also, based on my own past experience, I have just assumed for some time now that while it might take a couple years, even these two would eventually come to a head and be dealt with then, as the others have.

But obviously, I sought out this board and have followed the discussion for a reason, so it must be starting to bother me a little more these days. After reading everything here, I have a few questions: First of all, does anyone else get sebaceous cysts anywhere other than your scrotum? That's been the major area discussed on this thread, I realize, but I wonder if some people just have a tendency to make these types of cysts everywhere (or at least, anywhere) on their bodies because of their overall chemical makeup. I also have begun to wonder if the two bumps I dealt with before are something totally different, or if the composition of such a cyst can be different according to the individual. I'm sure they weren't STD or cancer related, nothing of that sort; whatever they were, they were an issue of the skin, but it could be my other two bumps really were more like zits than cysts, I don't know. The two I'm dealing with now do seem to be a lot like what has been described in this forum. Even under the skin, they seem harder and not fluid...like seeds.

I went to a dermatologist not long ago to have some moles and skin tags removed; one of the best things I ever did. Two office visits and about $300, but it was well spent as far as I'm concerned. I think those stupid things, besides being painful when they got caught and snagged in the seams of my clothing and such, were more of a hindrance to my attractiveness to the ladies than these two little bumps no one but me has noticed. But I bring that up because in my conversations with him, he mentioned that once you have moles and tags, even if they are removed, your body tends to make more. Others on this board have said their doctors have told them, once you have cysts, even after they are removed you tend to make more. So it must be that some of us are just more prone to get them than others are. Maybe I should contact that dermatologist again and ask about these two little nodules I'm concerned with currently; maybe he can just remove them. Anything you all can add would also be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm 51 now and have had these cysts since a teenager. I have often popped them successfully over the years but they seem to get tougher to pop. For several years I have used large needles , to cut into the cysts. I wash the area well with soap & water and then wipe with a sterile alcohol wipe before and after using the needle. Most of the time I was able to get thick, gooey puss out, but never tried to dig out the whole cyst. I think some of the cysts have formed scar tissue inside, from the needle cuts into them. So now they are even harder, even calcified. I recently dug out a piece of one of the cysts that was hard as a rock. No moisture in it whatsoever. It was about half the size of a bb.
Anyway, this has been an encouraging website where men are talking about this. This is obviously a common problem. I've been married for 26 years and my wife has never said anything about them. I have mentioned them, but they don't seem to concern her. She is a nurse and realizes they are nothing to be concerned about. So they bother me more than her. I am considering having them cut out by a doc, but am pretty sure new ones will form. May just have to do it every few years.
