I too experienced these symptoms of excruciating lower abdominal and rectal pain. It's all kinds of wrong. more sinister reasons such as endometriosis and burst cysts should be investigated further. But for me it was definitely the gas/light constipation theory. I writhed in agony, doubled over and squirmed in pain. Eventually after reading the previous posts i treated the pain as a gaseous affliction With immediate success. To alleviate your pain, try to lie down on the bed and commence rubbing your belly and lower abdominal area in a clockwise motion. Be gentle to yourself. I also found a pressure point along the inner of my hip bone near the pelvis that was tender. I applied a constant pressure on the point and as it eased so did all my discomfort. Good luck girls!!

ps. If this doesn't provide any relief to your pain it has not been induced by gas and a more serious underlying problem could be present and should be investigated further.

i have had this happen alot to me since I was a teenager (even when I wasnt having sex) i went to the hospital several time with no help .... i found as the years pass it does get worse when it happens ... suprise!!! doctors still have no idea what it is (I have pain in my lower stomach right above my vagina (bone) and it feel like it runs straight through to my anus) i have nothing wrong with me wat so ever and iver been getting these pains a few times a years since before i had sex .... no idea what they are and niether do doctors ..... best suggestion i can give going thru this as many times as i have is run a hot bath and take a few IB prophen before u get in the bath then sleep on ur side .... the pains go away within 1 to 4 days and DONT have sex for at least a week or they come back. not much else ive figured out other than tht. just stock up on ib profen and accept them cuz they happen even into ur 30s

The same thing happened to me two years ago, and I wasn't sure what to do, a few days later I just felt the urge to take a pregnancy test and it was positive. Don't know if it had any relations to it as I never went to the doctors about it, but it has just happened again, I have to be aware of my PCOS (polycystic ovaries syndrome) but a pregnancy test is the quicker and cheapest opinion to eliminate.

I'm in so much pain! About an hour ago I had intercourse with my husband for the second time today. Five minutes go by and I'm in the shower getting cleaned up. Right as I started to go pee  my lower abdomen / pelvic  area started to cramp up  something awful. I know something is very wrong. This has never happened to me before. My walk from the bathroom to the living room  was painful , horrible, down right  unbearable. My husband  has me drinking a ton of water right now .  Also he has  also given me a small dose of Ibuprophen for the  pain and he said my stomach looked bigger, like  I was bloated.  Oh dang, my  rectum  is  hurting as I type. The  pains are coming and going. Man... I'm upset.... sad faced girly. Sex with my best mate of 13 years is  where I find my happy place. I've always been VERY sexual. Heck I'm a thirty year old wife and mother of two, I look forward , NEED to  finish out our long days and even shorter nights ( babies still don't sleep a full eight hours. They need mommy to help them go potty    , change their pull ups . Then they want something to drink. An hour or two goes by  and i'm needed to chase away the scary dreams by reading the same book EVERY night  till both of them fall asleep. Then my husbands alarm goes off for work and I'm up taking care of him now. ( Sorry , I've gotten off the topic of my medical problems . Just venting , how rude of me. )Just trying to convey the message of how MUCH I look forward to daddy putting mommy to sleep.I'll be reading everything I can find on this topic.    This Mommy is worried .I'm reading some scary blogs  about ladies with similar symptoms , most of them don't sound so good  . Some ladies talking about just learning to deal with the pain. I don't want to cope or deal .I want to cure and Make Go Away  AH UGH it's hurting in the different areas of my body(first it was my lower abdomen then it was my pelvic area now it's my rectum .  This sucks . Should I see a doc.?  It's never happened before , what I mean is, should I wait till it  has happened at least  twice before I go see the Doc. . Does anyone know how this was caused? Could I have  been taking some kind of preventative measures/ steps to prevent this from happening in the first place.?  Was there something I should have been avoiding?   Ladies I'm interested  in knowing how others are doing? I want to taken in as much advice as I can  before I go see some Doc. who I can't even pay for when the bill comes.

I'm experiencing this now as well and have a few times before . it always turns out to be a cyst. this time I went to the er after me and my bf had sex because I was in so much pain and it was a ruptured cyst and I have another on my right ovary still. so yeah it's still hurting and like you guys I'm pretty upset that sex hurts so bad and bowel movements.. it's a sharp stabbing pain. I also notice a dull achy pain in my right side throughout the day as I walk around or sit down. it's so frustrating especially because we are trying to conceive :( already went to the docs as a follow up from the er and he said cysts usually cause pain for a while and run their course and then go away on their own but I can't deal with this. u can have them removed and i may call tmw to make another appt to look into that. another side note: cysts often go away with your period . so wait until your period and see if the pain subsides when you get off of it.

This happened to me earlier I did my own research....no doctor visit needed this usually occurs when your spouse penetrates you too deep...he's "stabbing your guts" with his penis tell him to not be so rough & take some of his penis out. Lay on your stomach and let him rub you it works like a charm ;)

I have this exact thing going on now!!!! OMG! Everything you have said about the doctors and antibiotics, EVERYTHING is identical to my problem. I have had this since May. Were you ever on the Mirena Contraceptive? I was. OMG

It is definitely gas it happens to me often and once I pass it I feel much better so my solution is to not have intercourse if you are feeling gassy.

I had a laparoscopy about 3 weeks ago to diagnose and treat endometriosis. Yesterday was the first time I had sex with my partner since the surgery and I experienced the exact same stabbing pains in my vagina and rectum. I am confused as to whether the two are linked because I was told the endo they found on my cervix had been ablated. But before the surgery I could have sex very comfortably and only sometimes experience the stabbing pains around time of my period (but never as intense). Also like other people on here I have also experienced doctors fobbing me off with antibiotics (before I got a proper diagnosis) which is so frustrating. My advice is to refuse them and push for a proper diagnosis, not just guesswork. Through taking so many antibiotics I found it really threw the ph of my vagina and I'm now constantly battling with it to be "normal", in my opinion the antibiotics did more harm than good.

Thanks for sharing your stories, I wish none of us had to experience this but it's also good to know that it's common and we are not alone.

I was having sex today with a regular buddy who is quite well endowed and I felt him go a bit too deep inside of me. This happens with me on occassion (as I'm quite petite) but this time when we continued having sex it was a bit uncomfortable. He finished soon after and when we stopped I immediately felt a dull aching pain in my abdominal area. While waiting for him to come back from the bathroom, the pain got worse and I also felt it in my rectal area. We usually go for a second round so we tried but I felt a stabbing pain as soon as it went in. I tried to go really slowly, telling him not to move and just controlling the depth and speed myself, but it was not at all pleasurable and if I moved any faster than ridiculously slowly, the stabbing pain would come back. So we stopped, but the pain continued. I did not have the urge to throw up or poop (like some of the other stories here) but I was feeling a little gassy. I could still walk ok slowly, and peeing was fine. I did feel like I just needed to lie down and not move much though.

I don't think I've ever had this problem before. I don't know whether it had anything to do with the deep penetration or not. It seems from researching the internet that it is most likely one of these things:- Gas/constipation- Thrusting too deep or rough and hitting the cervix/shifting the uterus- Ruptured ovarian cyst (I have had a problem with this before, so maybe?)- Endometriosis- Pelvic Inflammatory DiseaseIt has been about 5 hours since the pain started and I am still feeling it in my abdomen and rectum, but it is much better than when it started. I am a bit gassy, and it seems to relieve the pain if I manage to pass some gas. I am afraid to have sex again because of the pain. I think that if we kept having sex after the pain started, then it would really have been unbearable. I am thinking to stop having sex for at least a week to give my body some time to "repair" itself (abstaining sucks though, don't it?!).I had already booked a doctors appointment for an STD test for tomorrow morning so I will also be telling him about this problem and asking him if he knows what's wrong with me. I fear he might just "fob me off" like other women have mentioned, or say he doesn't know and send me on my way, or misdiagnose without properly examining/understanding. I'll come back and report the outcome after the appointment.

We deserve to enjoy sex and it seems crazy to me that I have come across so many women expressing this problem on the internet and so many theories but none that point to a common diagnosis/solution. I wonder why this issue has not been studied further by doctors, as so many women have mentioned, their doctors seem to have no idea what it is and don't seem to even care.. how terribly frustrating and hopeless - I bet if this were happening to as many men, there would be teams of doctors frantcially trying to diagnose it!!

I had the same pain yesterday too. I stumbled on this site when I tried googling for answers. I think your theory makes sense because through out the night I kept on passing gas. It was painful but I got relieved. This morning, I passed stool (painful at some point) and felt more relieved. The pain isn't completely gone but I feel much better. Thank you
