As with you all i have this sharp pain on the tip of my tongue, it started after a bout of really bad flu in 2017. I think the lack of water theory is interesting but also Vit B9, I found out I was low in this and started eating a lot of Marmite rich in B vit's it helps, almost went away completely.
I don't find this as a solution, sorry?
Most cases on here are for the side or the tip of the tongue, not consistent with GN.
I may have an answer to this! Is it all about gut health? I started taking a "pre-biotic" 2 days ago and instantly the crack/pain in my tongue improved, now almost back to normal. The pre-biotic is a powder available from a British company called Chuckling Goat.
I have a small round feeling inside the top of my tongue and it tingles and hurts
For the last few months I have had a sharp piercing pain on the right side of my tongue and into my neck. It jolts me out of my almost slumber. It doesn't remain but it is scary because it is so painful. The last one I had was so intense that it made my tongue a bit sore.
I have a sharp, stabbing ,burning pain in my tongue. It wakes me up, and is so painful. I also develop canker like sores on the tip/side of my tongue. Once I'm up and about it eases. Gets me down, so much. I've been given a diognoses of "burning mouth syndrome" and advised to change my toothpaste, maxillofacial doc Didn't help, and I've resigned myself to the fact , I will just have to put up with it. Xxx
I'm 28 and I get the same thing, similar to you... when I'm super stressed out and anxious for long periods of time. I think you're onto something... Surprised so many people have the same thing. I thought I was nuts LOL... I also sometimes feel like someone has just punched me right in the back of the head when I don't wake up fast enough. Trying to sleep through anxiety and stress is a stupid idea I guess... better just get up and face the day! Always works out better for me and my clients too.
Walk a mile in all of our shoes and some "specialist" might care enough to at least research the matter. I tend to believe as one individual stated here upon their research. They came up with glossopharyngeal neuralgia being the most likely diagnosis. I too have often experienced this mystery stabbing pain in the tongue. It wakes me up out of a deep sleep. I ask myself whether I've bitten my tongue. There's never any blood or indication of a bite, however. I don't care to receive surgery of a nerve nor do I appreciate bandaide surgery, that is to take drugs so for now guess I'm satisfied knowing there is a diagnosis, no thanks to anyone other than another person like you and me coming on here to care enough and "research". Eat right, drink lots of water, exercise, sleep well, and manage your stress level is what I do knowing I have plenty of company out here.
Thank you for doing the research someone else should have taken the time to do.

Bruh same, Im 23 f and today is my third day in pain. Today the pain start to spread to my shoulder on my left side . Quite weird since half of my right tongue was the first thing that felt hurt.
I'm just 15 and getting this pain, it seems to stem from an ulcer on my tongue, I started getting them as I got the ulcer. None of the diagnoses' seem to fit, and I'm unaware of having neuralgia, just wondering if there are any new speculations?
