I had CT scan Monday which showed tiny umbilical hernia. Thanks to this forum I asked about the Urachal Remnant which did not show any cysts but I think may have... Hi. I am 17 this year, female. I am having the same pain in my belly button yesterday. It lasted for about 5 hours. Do you think it is better for me to see the doctor as soon as possible or that it might be a urinary infection?

Im literally having this exact problem right this minute. Everything. It felt like while I was peeing someone was ripping my insides out through my urethra.

I used to have this problem for years and now at 45, I do not have it anymore.  Same exact description that the other men describe, causing the pain and requiring you to hunch over and wait for it to pass before you can stand up.  It does feel like the original lady describe like a string that is tied between you belly button and sexual organ.  I used to just lie on the floor and wait for it to go away and it would in a few minutes to as long as 30 minutes.  No doctor ever knew wtf I was talking about.

One person did, a mystic, incredibly intuitive, buddhist lama.  When I explained what had just happened to me (the pain), he said "oh yes....stones!"  He did not confirm if he was talking about kidney stones or gall stones, but I thought he meant kidney.  Well that was 20 or so years ago, I started doing kidney cleanses with herbal teas then I went to a website call "The Cure Zone," and did one of their liver cleanses and I was stunned!  I saw a good 300 gallstones come out of me in this first time.  I did it a few more times until very little came out.  Now I have to say, I can't remember the last time I had this pain.  It used to be every few months and now I do not get it.  It turns out that natural healers like Dr Schulze and Dr Christopher and others always cleanse the bowel, liver and kidneys to get their patients healthy.  They explain that these systems must be regularly flushed out, like changing an oil filter on your car, or they get compromised and then problems begin.

One note, don't even think about a liver cleanse until the bowel is cleansed because the liver/gallbladder complex dumps into the intestinal system though the hepatic duct.  If this area is blocked with impaction, then the liver cannot purge and guess who gets to feel like c**p???  That'd be you!  Don't let that be you!

I hope this helps someone.

Cheers...PS I used to drink a lot more too.  May be related

So I had my umbilical hernia fixed today. I am starting to put some things together. If I have a bladder infection and let it go it will create my pain that we all are experiencing. I won't post for a while until I know that my umbilical is healed but I really believe that this is a Urachal remnant issue inflamed when I get a bladder infection which seems to be happening often.

3rd year medical student here.

The first guy was right, most of the people posting here probably have some type of urachal remnant anomaly that gets inflammed for one reason or another and acts up. (mine will bug me when I get a bit of fungal infection in the "belly button" because I haven't showered regularly enough and the area gets inflammed) It's a pretty rare in adults and it is barely covered in medical school as a footnote in embryology, the physical diagnosis or the symptomatology wasn't covered at all where I trained.

Go talk to a urologist, tell them you think your symptoms are related to an urachal anomaly.  This condition is probably more prevalent than the medical literature would suggest, and only the really severe cases look bad enough to get operated on and I imagine those patients have a different sounding history when talking to a doctor compared to a lot of the people here with "sub-clinical" symptoms so the medical profession is by and large not very aware of it.

I hope everyone who reads this gets the help they need to feel better. Good Luck!

I have found going while in pain/discomfort is the only way a Dr will understand. It always good to get a urinary infection checked out as it can get worse if not taken care of. I use a heating pad on my belly when it is bothering me and if that does not make me feel better I take Advil. Again if it starts with a possible urinary infection than definitely get that treated and learn the signs so you can nip it in the bud.

im really crying right now. how come there is no diagnosis to this pain??? im a 16 year old girl and i get this pain every 3 weeks or so for 2-3 days of horrible pulling sensation and sensitivity in the belly button area. i went to my gp 4 times already, its not a uti or a hernia, but he said it can be connected to eating too much chesse or acidic foods. can that be???  im so frusturated. i cant spend half of my life not moving because of this pain. please help me out!!!

I've been experiencing this pain for years & thought something was seriously wrong with me...a few minutes ago I caught this pain & thought, its time to look this symptom up cause this could b serious. The older I get(I'm 22), the pain gets even worst. I hope we can find a cure for this because its devastating not knowing what's goin on in our body.!

I'm so glad but also shocked to see all the people with the same symptoms as myself. I first noticed the pain when I was in the 8th grade. Just like other people, I was told it might have beed appendicitis. Well, now I'm 29 and the pain still comes at anytime it wants. I was just laying down and stretched and wham it feels like I'm being pulled by my naval. It doesn't effect me when I urinate, just when I stand straight up. Eventually it goes away, but until it goes in to "hibernation" I'm scared to even move. Thank you all for not making me feel weird lol.

19 year old male here. Same problem. Monthly or sometimes not as often. The pain makes me want to die.

Here is a summary of what we know:
- happens if bowels are full
- happens if dehydrated slightly
- happens sometimes after inflammation to the stomach area (lifting, causing pressure)

Here are the top couple out of the numerous suspects:
- The Urachus
- umbilical hernia
- appendix

What can you do?
- See a urologist/general doctor
- Refer to this very exact forum post (write it down!) and explain that all of us have the same symptoms but cant get a diagnosis
- Get surgery if it is sever (most likely hernia cleanup or appendix surgery)
- Post back here with results

Hi..
All this you guys are complaining about will most likely be a navel dislocation.. This is where the navel moves either to the left or right or up and down.. The navel can be measured from each nipple using a string for males and for females measured from the left toe an right toe of the leg while lying to determine if it has moved. If this is the case a number of treatments are availible.. Just look up navel dislocation
