Not sure what is the problem I had Morton's neuroma surgery in one foot and injection in the other foot, and now I have multiple types pain in both feet, I went to all kinds of docs had all kinds of tests, and currently I am seeing a brain and spine doctor, and on my first visit he told me he thinks what I have is "Small Fiber Neuropathy" and I looked it up and it sounds exactly what I am going through,
He did lots of blood work on me and I am waiting to see him, but my appointment is in 3 months from now his office is so busy.

THANK YOU!!! Anything is better than the pain and having it dictate your entire day! No more. I don't care that the toe is numb, it doesn't hurt anymore.

Sometimes it gets worse before better. My Podiatrist is doing one of three nerves at a time because he said when you do one nerve at a time you get better results. He anticipates 90% success. I could not walk and I had no alternative except to have the nerves cut. If they are cut, the outcome is often very bad and can be accompanied by phantom pain as amputation be. I already am experiencing several consecutive days pain-free and did not realize how much pain I have suffered over the last 15 years. I got to where I could not walk any distance. I am extremely happy with the outcome so far.

I agree with you, I am suffering for 3 years now with bilateral neuromas The 2nd podiatrist I went to put 8 shots without guidance from ultrasound in my foot just a shot in the dark. Can you believe that? I was in so much pain just wanted some relief. When they failed I had surgery by the same pod. Still in pain almost a year later. Then the other foot started. I went for a 3rd Pod opinion, this Pod thinks there is something else going on like RA. So now I am being worked up for that. Just had an MRI last night. Waiting results and to see an RA doc.
There is a place in MA I am looking into that treats Neuroma's with ablation and injection of your own plasma. Under guided imagery which is what the shot should have been!! I heard the in MA was popular treatment years ago but since the insurence doesn't want to cover any more they did away with it. In conclusion the Pod did damage to my foot by free lanceing those shots. If this suffering I am experiencing is unrelated to RA then that Is my conclusion. I am going to go to MA to see if they can help me. At this point I am ready to go on disability because I can't walk with out pain and even at rest I am in burning pain. I wish you luck.

I have had only 2 shots in my foot with the alcohol injection and my pain level went from 100% pain to 50% pain to wear if I walk over 40 min. it feels like I have a rolled up sock or bunched up sock underneath the ball of my foot. I will get another injection, it is werid that it is numb to my toes, but it is better than the pain I had before. I do think however that the foot Dr, should use a ultra sound to make sure he hits the neuroma.

Please do not get any alcohol based shots!!! I got them and I have irreversible damage to my foot. Worse than before. Constant pain. Hurts to walk. Have to use specially designed insoles in all of my shows. Will never be able to walk barefoot again. The alcohol destroyed the tissue and now it is bone on bone in my foot. Huge impact on my quality of life.

I did not have Morton's neurons, I had heel pain, and my doctor, (who is now retired THANK GOODNESS and known as the Dr. Kavorkian of feet) kept telling me that i needed alcohol injections on the inside arch of my foot. I had actually injured my heels from a jump that i underestimated while over-indulging on alcoholic beverages. Long story short, I trusted that this Dr. Knew what he was talking about. All I cared about was that the nerve that was hurting would be dead. I figured a dead nerve can't cause pain...right? Hell...now I wish I had challenged the doctor...asked more questions, and got a second opinion I am in pain every day. When my foot isnt aching, it feels like it's twice the usual size and the sensation is almost like it is being squeezed. Or wrung out. That's the best way I can explain it. It's absolutely horrible. I stopped him after the 11th injection. I never got any relief. And now I find out that 7 treatments is the max. Way to go, Kavorkian.

I had the shots 7 years ago. My feet are going numb, one toe at a time, diagnosed neuropathy, but no real reason why. My A1c is 7 so they speculate diabetes damage but no damage in eyes or anywhere else. I suddenly remembered the shots and now I think it is caused by destroying nerves seven years ago. In new shoes I’m pretty good with a nice Dr Shoals comfort insert gel. Not sure I recommend the shots, mine were unguided, so who knows where they affected.

Have you had any luck with the class action lawsuit? I have been permanently disabled from these shots.

I have the same issue from diabetes. I have tried many things but honestly gabapentin has worked the best. I realize that it doesn't work for everyone and heard this from the doctor before I started on it. I guess I got lucky but if you haven't tried it then it may be an option.

Hi Roseann, how many injections did you have, over what period of time and were they guided by Ultra-sound or some of form of imaging? Are you now pain free?
