I have what seems to be the same problem...and, like many of you I have yet to get any REAL insight into the cause(s)....VERY FRUSTRATING!

FYI on my situation....about a week ago, after working out, I noticed the quarter-sized lump on the under side of my left forearm. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't move. Although, when I hold my arm above my head it seems to shrink and soften just a little bit.

That, coupled with the fact that I was lifting pretty heavy that day, has led me to think that is blood-related (burst vessel ?).

The good news is that I have an appointment this Friday, 12/07/2007, with a doctor specializing in sports-related conditions...and I'll be sure to come back and post the findings.

Stay tuned !

Sorry, for posting this again...for some reason I thought my first post didn't go through
Particularly if it's in your hand, wrist, or elbow, it could be a ganglion cyst. As I understand it, thick joint lubrication fluid collects in the connective tissue around your joints when one forms. It can be painful, or not. I went to a hand doctor because the one on my wrist was painful. He said he didn't recommend drainging it because it could fill up again, and then make it even harder for my body to help the fluid flow out. Depending on the doctor and how bad the cyst is, they may recommend heating pads to encourage drainage, self-massage (which I did), drainage, splints, rest, etc. In my case, I massaged the thing - it was big and ugly, got in the way of some activities, and hurt. But it eventually went down by itself, pretty much overnight. Now I know that if it recurs, I have to massage it from the beginning to keep it from (hopefully) getting as large. A tendency for getting ganglion cysts can also run in families - my father, sister and I have all had them at different times.

I would suggest going to the doctor. It's much better to make sure it's something benign than take the chance that it's cancer or something else you truly need to have treated, but you're ignoring it. I know someone who had a lump in a weird place, and they hoped it was a fat deposit... but it wound up being a super-aggressive form of cancer.

Don't take the chance - go to a good doctor and get it checked out, especially if it's growing!
I too have a small pea size lump under the skin of my forearm. My doctor felt it and feels that it is most likely a ganglion cyst, however it is possible that it is a gland that is reactive. My doctor suggested an ultra sound to get a firm diagnosis, however she was reassuring that in most instances these are not of concern.
Hi everyone. I stumbled across this while doing some research on weird little lumps like this. My brother started developing them when he was in high school ... one particular one is larger than a golf ball! ... and these days he has tiny ones all over his body.
I've started to get something similar at the base of a finger joint in one of my hands.
He thinks his are bone spurs or calcium deposits - although I think bone spurs only develop on joints. The cyst sounds like a possible idea as well.
I am told that mine are calcium deposits. I had one on my thumb join drained with a needle (not nice). I have one on my wrist that I did not let the doctor drain. He said if it didn't grow and give me any pain not to worry. It's still there does not move or grow.
Hi...I just found this thread while I was searching for answers for my own lumps... its exactly like you guys described it...I have 1 on each arm just about where the elbow is, topside. However, my lump on the left arm seems to have shrunk slightly...and its now smaller than the one on the right arm...I don't know if that means anything...but yeah...just some heads up onto what might happen to yours...
lipomas may be something you'll want to research. nearly everyone i've met has these lumps.
Hello
I have a lump also, on my upper arm. Mine is small and hard like there's a grape pip under my skin or something. It's been there for years and is not painful but it is a little visible and looks like a pimple. I'm gonna have it removed soon cos i'm getting married in september and don't want it there for that! I've found what I think mine is here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dermatofibroma
Hope this helps!!
Blimey, quite a few people with these then...I literally went to bed last night and suddenly felt this pea sized thing on the side of my forearm, it must have just appeared overnight / during the day!

I do get ganglions on my wrist joint and they reallllllllyyy hurt, but this is just really odd!
It may be a Aneurysm. (Dangerous ballooning of a weakened area of an artery.) This can cause arm bumps, you weird people are making me a scared 13 year old boy... :-( o.O
Aneurysm was one thing, after some research I have concluded that the Epitrochlear and brachial area is where the bumps are appearing. The Epitrochlear and brachial area starts a little into the bicep muscle and a few inches down from the elbow.

Regional lmyph tissue
same thing here...I have had this small pea sized lump on the side of my arm..it hasnt grown or anything..its the exact same size and it doesnt hurt or anything..but idk..maybe getting a checkup would be better..
either ganglion if near a joint otherwise most of them are lipomas. after that is nasty stuff like sarcoma...but that is rare.
Especially if it is above or near your armpit, it could be a swollen lymph node. The problem is that you can never be 100% sure simply by self-examination, so seeing your doc is best.
Around three weeks ago, I was playing tennis and accidentally hit the low part of my left arm really hard with the tennis racket. It swole up and was really sensative for about a week and a half. It got smaller over time but for the last week and a half has felt like a tiny pebble under my skin. It's sort of hard and can be moved around a little but doesnt hurt, just uncomfortable. I dont have insurance and dont want to see a doctor if its not really a big deal. but am a little weirded out on how it feels when i run my hand over it. :O/
