i have this thing i just spit one right now and it was the biggest it smelled so gross and got so disgusted i threw it across the room after i smelled it its been a while since that happened about 3 years ago it started it smells the same every time
I am 45 and have had these nasty smelling white chunks on and off since I was 12! They smell like dead eels floating in the Willamette river! It's a smell you never forget! Yuck!
Hello! I recently had this problem(I'm a 16 year old) and had be coming down with strep like every four weeks so I went to a ear, nose, and throat doctor and he told me that they were called tonsil stones. Basically what they are is a bacterial build up in the tonsils that calcify. To get rid of them you can do a number of things. You can use a water pick on your tonsils an they'll come out, gargle salt water to try an get rid of some of the bacteria, or you can get your tonsils removed which is what my doctor had me do.
It's not an infection, just a buildup of mucus, dead cells, food particles and bacteria, that collects in the little crater like areas on the surface of your tonsils. You can carefully push them out, or dig them out, just try not to damage the tissue around it. They will come out, you just have to be very careful! Many people get them, but they are so gross, that most people are too embarrassed to talk about it. They are usually hard to see, until they get large enough to where you can feel them when you swallow. If you don't work them out, they will eventually dislodge on their own. At such time, you may swallow them and never know it, or you may cough or something and feel them in your mouth. When you take one out of your mouth, DO NOT crush it, you will be sorry you did! Those little things smell really, really, really offensive! They are also known as Tonsil Stones, or Tonsiloliths, if you want to search for more information on them. Good luck!
There is a product called Thera Breath Oral Rinse. It was created by a doctor to help his own daughter. It's $7 - $10 a bottle, but if you use it twice a day for a few weeks those little balls will have no smell at all. But you have to keep using it. It fizzes like peroxide so daily gargling with THAT may have a similar result for a lot cheaper. I currently use Thera Breath myself. Good Luck!
I know this is gross, but if I gag myself they come out father and it makes out easier to get them out with a qtip or something, I hate having them...I wish I could find a permanent way to get rid of them!
