i have asthma, and i smoke on a daily basis and i really think it makes it better but sometimes i think that im thinking crazy. but, wen i do feel that my chest is tightening and its hard for me to breath. im calmer to think of how the air to breath  has to pass,  and suddenly it gos away and im back to normal  and i think that just becuz im high im not scared and i dont panic wen my asthma acts up. my opinion is that wen you do panic because the fact that u cant breath it gets worse and u have an attack im not shur to believe that but i do think it works for me, i havent told my doctor of this because i know his fed back and he'll say that i just wanna smoke but its not that at all :))

I don't know what field of medicine your friend is in but it is 1000% untrue that smoking Marijuana has a similar effect to a bronchiadialator... yes marajuana has cannaboids which have a similar effect on the lungs to brinchiadialators IN LARGE QUANTITIES but the total cannaboid contribution of the inhaled drag is so far outweighed by the smoke and carcinogens that it is hardly even worth mentioning as a positive when smoking marijuana while prone to asthma attacks. Marijuana can in many cases have a relaxing effect in the lung cavities making the expansion of the lungs seem normal but when the effect of the marijuana cases dry air passages it can be extremely difficult to inhale at all leading to a surprise sever attack that can be fatal... make sure your friend is not giving this totally incorrect information to people who seek help of this kind.

smoking...PERIOD affects asthma my friend. I've had asthma since I was 7months old and it was terrible until my teens when I grew out of it from constantly playing sports and taking my meds regularly. After I slowed down on the sports and started smoking occasionally my asthma came back and has plaguedme since. I am only one case of cannabis affecting an asthma in this way to my knowledge but trust me guys and gals if you have a condition where your lungs are hype sensitive to the environment the last you want to do is inhale smoke of ANY kind. Stick to eating pot or using a vaporizer but smoking if you have asthma is like pooring gasoline onto fire, you

d be a complete id**t to think that it's ok to do that. Cheers

Of course smoking marijuana can cause asthma problems.  Being near any type of smoke can cause asthma attacks, so ihaling marijuana smoke directly and holding it in can obviously create huge problems for asthmatics.  Trust me, I almost died from it last night - I thought I'd just take in the exhales of my friends, but then I started to get high and just started taking huge drags (who's cautious when they're high?) right off the joint.  Next thing I know, I need to get out of the room to get some fresh air, but I can't seem to pull it in enough.  I had to go outside, but I had to consciously take these forceful, giant breaths to get the air I needed.  It was absolutely terrifying and I ended up in the hospital.

For anyone NEW TO THIS THREAD? Please go back a couple of pages and read the story by a parent who shares that HIS/HER DAUGHTER DIED FROM SMOKING POT FROM A WATER BONG, based on posts on this thread.

I can find no rational reason for someone to make this up. The only motive can be to help others. Whereas those who post that smoking while having asthma is OK can be easily shown to have ulterior motives. The most glaring of which is VALIDATION. By spreading the exaggerated information and misinformation about pot's effects on the asthmatic's lungs, the pro-pot posters validate their own habit, and recruits others to spread the same misinformation, so they can validate themselves and others. It is a virulent cycle.

These pro-pot posters with asthma are shooting themselves in the foot by doing this. Worse, they are teaching others how to shoot themselves, too; even suggesting that they should.

I am a current pot-smoker but am thoroughly convinced by the sincerity of the earlier parent's post that I have been a f*cking m***n. I used to smoke cigs, too. I quit that because it killed my asthma! But you know why I did it? Because I didn't care about my life. Now not every smoker feels this way, but I think there is a certain apathy about one's health that is indicative of some unresolved issue about one's own place in the world. My being a pot smoker KNOWING this information would just be my proving I haven't learned anything. I can't keep doing this to myself knowing it will bite me in the ass later. I value my life so much.

A one hour high is not worth a fatal asthma attack. I'm going to get a vape. You should start eating pot, or get a vape too. And even then, don't toke everyday if you really want to maximize your high. And if you are going to keep smoking, this advice still applies.

GET HIGH LESS OFTEN if nothing else, OK?? It feels better, anyway; you'll see. It feels like the first time all over again. Smoking constantly every day is an addiction. I'm no angel, I've smoked everyday for too long. It's waste. Ultimately, we should work towards vaporizing, eating, or quitting altogether.

Don't become a statistic. Our generation of apathetic potheads will be humiliated by this epidemic of smug ignorance. Help yourselves and help others help themselves. Reply to this and let's try and make change together, OK?

Happy toking… NO MORE SMOKING! Peace.

PS… my deepest sympathies to the parent who posted here… absolutely tragic. You are a very very very very very good person for typing your post. Please do more to share your cause. It will help you heal and help others like me. If I were religious I'd bless you or something. Cheers.

I've got chronic asthma which i developed about two years ago. i also started smoking pot last year and i smoke heavily (about 4 to 8 bowl packs per day ) smoking weed has affected my asthma soo much. my lungs are sore all the time, ive got chronic coughing and i wake up to the sound of myself wheezing. ive been to the ER 4 time this year and had bronchitis twice. the more i smoke the worse it gets. the last thing that i want to do is stop smoking but it exacerbates my asthma to the point where its gonna eventually kill me. My ventolin inhaler doesnt even really help me anymore. of course everyone is different but smoking is NEVER good for asthma. especially since weed smoke is unfiltered.
