The same thing has happened to me. I just had my two lower wisdom teeth cut out while under anestesia. I thought at first it was just swelling, but on my right side it's more than just swelling, it's as if my jaw has been dislocated and then put back into place. That was what I first noticed, Then I to see where the stiches were cause he stiched all of my gums up, and to my lovely surprise, he stiched the crease of my cheek into the gum. Why on earth did he do this? What is the purpose. Couldn't he of done it like the other two teeth and just stich the gum up? This makes no sense to me, and it is very painful, and even opening my mouth right now even a little hurts because it feels as though my cheeks are trying to rip my gums out. This make no sense to me whatsoever. And only makes my gums hurt worse than what they probably would of with just a normal stitching. I have atleast another good 5 days to live with this. I would cut them out tommorrow or the next day, but the only problem is... The stitches are WAY too tight, I don't even think there is room to fit a pair of scissors under there to cut it free. God this hurts so much.

The same thing just happened to me after an extraction of a molar a few weeks ago. It was really tight but I figured it was just the swelling. Then, after the stitches came out and the swelling went down about 10 days later, I realized my cheek was stitched to my gum. I called my dentist but can't go in because it is between Christmas & New Year's. He's hoping it's just scar tissue but I'm definitely not convinced. Any advice from anyone until I can get in to see my dentist next week? Any thoughts on the issue? Again, all of the stitches are already out. There's about a 1/2 inch difference from where my regular gum is and the bridge up to where the fuse is. Smiling, talking and opening my mouth are all particularly challenging and painful. Also, any update on the person with the laser surgery? I have a bad feeling that's what I'm in for. Thanks!

I had a very similar thing happen to me as well, but its been over a week since I had my wisdom teeth surgery, and my stitches on that side of my mouth are gone..... and I have a flab of "skin"/gum? I don't know what to call it. But part of it is attatched toward where the incision would have been, and the other side is on my cheek. Oddly I have a piece of gum attatched to the whole gum/cheek thing that is covering most of the side of my 12 year old molar.
Does anyone know what this means?

I just got all four of my wisdom teeth tooken out yesterday. I've already noticed that my one side is swollen and the other is not as bad. My aunt was teasing mew with 'they might  accidentily suture your cheek to your gum.' It does feel like there is smothing there and that there is a cut on my inner cheek, but i can still feel the hole..... I asked my mom, and she said that maybe my surgen was right handed (Its in the left) and it's just easier to suture it that way.

I went to a oral surgeon on the 6th of Jan 2012 for my bottom wisdom teeth to be cut out the needed to cut my gum to get to my teeth because my wisdom teeth has not cam out due to I have no room in my mouth for them . It has been a week now I have no more swelling but ny face is bruised and my cheeks are stitched to my gums I literally could not open my mouth without it pulling on my gum so I ripped the left side stitch out of my cheek . It feels a lot better on the left side but keeps bleeding . The right side still hurts so bad that I cry every night and day I am on 7.5 lortab 3-4 teaspoons every 4-6 hrs for pain I was on liquid hydro 7.5 before the lortab . But I am still in pain and bleeding everytime I talk or eat or move my lips it pulls on my cheek witch pulls on my gum I also hav a knot on the bottom of my gum and my ear hurts. I was thinking about ripping out the stitch . Today is now Sat. And can't get a hold of surgeon to tell him how I feel and the e.r can't help so what should I do ? I also been running a fever off and on and been sweating

okay soo i had 2/4 wisdom teeth on my left side out on monday and now its thursday and i finally ate something for the first time since sunday, soup and when i went to check to make sure there was nothing in my stitches i noticed that there was a little piece of green spice and i went to go take it out with tweezers but when i thought i had it i had a stitch instead so i started to panic and then i looked closely and my bottom (and im pretty sure top but i can't see too well) gums are stitched to my cheeck and im panicing about the piece of spice in there too! does anyone know what i should do? i tried to brush it off lightly but it wont get off and i dont want to irritate the stitches the last thing i need right now is more complications with these stupid wisdom teeth. this may sounds stupid but if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. even if someones gotten food in their stitches or talk to their dentist about the cheek being stitched to the gums anything will be helpful! thanks so much!

this is day tow for me impacted lower wisdom tooth they had to break it in to quadrents to pull im pretty sure my dentist had to destroy my outer gum to the jaw bone to get it all out and now yes my cheek is tied to my gum. i think it is definitly more swollen and painful because of this but the chance of any food getting stuck down their and causing a infection leading to a dry socket is much less from what ive been told thats a life of pain not acouple weeks. the chance of them fuseing worries me emensly oh f*** getting old sucks

after reading this i called my surgeoun to have him take a look at my cheek bc i was experiencing pain. He removed the stitches and told me they were SUPPOSED to be there because the nerve that controls your tongue is behind your lower wisdom teeth and the stitches somehow protected it. I had the stitches removed and now I'm feeling a lot better!

I got my wisdom teeth out 5 days ago & the inside of my cheek is sewn to my gum. It's so annoying! I hope they come apart.

I had all of my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday and im only 13. My mouth has the same kinda stiching on the bottom one side is losser then the other. They said because of my dissolvable stiches. They said my mouth is so mature and im so young that I should heal very fast. It's normal for it to be feeling tight. Within 1-2weeks they should be gone. They are gonna either fall out or break off. It will be totally painless.

Did this work out ok for you? Our doctor just keeps saying it's because of the swelling and we are 8 days tomorrow...

Just as an update, I ended up getting my gum cut back off from my cheek with additional lasering a couple of times afterward. If this happens to you, that should be all that will have to happen. Unfortunately for me, my dentist cut part of the nerve, so the left side of my jaw was numb for about 6 months following all of this while my nerve repaired. It's ok now though, and there's no pain. I can smile, move my mouth etc. just fine, but the inside of my mouth isn't quite as smooth as it used to be.

i had the same thing happen. i just called my oral surgeon and she said that sometimes they actually have to make a small incision on the cheek to get the tooth out, therefore when they stitch up, they stitch part of the cheek as well. once the stitches disolve, your cheek should be free and no longer uncomfortable
