Exact same problem , I had my wisdom tooth out Saturday and today Monday I look like a hamster, but now the inside swelling is going down my cheek is most definitely stitched to my gum.... I can even feel the fold at the bottom of my outer gum where my cheek is over lapping it !
I can only hope this is normal after searching on google why I have this?
Maybe it lowers the risk of infection ?
Either way I've had the day off work today as I'm sore and look horrendous

OMG, such a thing could really happen!!! why all the oral surgeon was trained to make the same mistake?
I had my wisdom teeth extracted and always suspect that my cheek was stitched to my gum. and Now 6 months later, there is a bump growing out of the cheek and covered on the hole, they will never grow into one.
Oral surgeon need to be trained again.

Your supposed to have your stitches sowed with your cheeks. I had oral surgery this past Friday, it's been a week and they haven't dissolved yet. No need to worry it does it on its own. You will feel pain, because it's a surgery. Within 4-5 days you will have more limited freedom within the mouth. Just have a good oral hygiene and follow surgeons orders. You should be able to eat normal and so on after a week or so.

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow after having all 4 wisdom teeth surgically removed and still swelling on the lower left cheek and pain. I took a look and there are still stitches stuck in my cheek. I pulled a few small pieces off with tweezers but it swoll up again. A piece is still stuck in my gum.

I’ve had the same thing a week ago, I still have my stitches I saw my denist and it’s is normal to have the check stitched it becaus when they cut to get the tooth out there not enough gum to put back together so they use the gum to flap it to the cheeck if that make sense. To make sure it’s tight and the skin heals back together.

The stitches fell out of my cheeks a week and a half later...my left cheek has merged with my gum...its not swelling...my cheek has actually merged with my gum...aside from the putrid roadkill esc odour...i cant open my mouth too wide, I can no longer touch my nose with my tongue, and the tip of my tongue is flat now...it used to be round and now it's flat...anyone else have this? I cry everyday knowing I will never have my face back...

I agree, it would have been nice to have been told before hand and not just let me find out by looking into my mouth because of pain

Same here. Just got all four of mine removed yesterday. And went to take a nap at home. I woke up two hours later and saw that my cheek tore on the inner left side. A big rip from the stitches. It was bleeding pretty bad and I went to the ER because we couldn't get a hold of my doctor. They didn't do anything but give me pain meds and send me home. It seems to be better this morning, but I still can't eat anything other than apple sauce.

my otherwise quite healthy 19 yr old granddaughter has just come from the er . after the 'dentist' extracted her wisdom tooth , he stitched her cheek to the gum . it pulled out and now she has a much larger than a marble HOLE with ragged edges in the rear inside of her cheek . she is on steroids , and two antibiotics and also pain pills and ibuprofen . in two days she has lost 6 pounds . she cannot eat or drink without pain as the gaping open hole collects everything in it . that this is a 'normal' occurrance is hogwash . its happening because incompetent ppl are being hired by our self serving insurance companys that OBVIOUSLY dont care about the people they get the money from as much as they care about the ppl who get the money after we leave .She was not able to work for those two days and quite probably a few more . who knows what this will turn out to be in the future .no one will give straight answer . im scared for her now as she is to return to the same dentist today .

THANK YOU! I am on day 5, about to go to the ER. Impacted lower wisdom tooth removed. Had to remove bone, stitched my cheek, to my gum. Imense pain even while walking out of the clinic, with full numbing still. Something is way wrong. This is going on day 6, and im in severe pain. All these people saying its normal, are either dumb, lying, or both.
