Since i have the same exact problem right now, may i ask how did your situation turn out ?
Glad this isn't an isolated experience. I had all four of mine out five days ago and just noticed this morning that my cheeks are stitched to my gums. I can feel the thread under the skin, especially on the left side. The worst part is that I went to my dentist two days ago because my cheeks were so swollen they were getting caught between my teeth, and I couldn't close my mouth all the way to chew anything or speak properly. I've dealt with disordered eating, so not being able to chew had been disastrous to my health and emotional state. I'm most frustrated that my surgeon did not even mention that my cheeks were stitched when I saw him specifically about the swelling; he told me I just had to wait for it to go down. On top of that, I wasn't even aware that this was common practice. I have my scheduled follow up midday tomorrow and will definitely be asking why in God's name this isn't standard to inform patients of PRIOR to surgery.
i have exactly same issue, my dentist said he will cut the skin that formed after cheek was stitched to gum. in 1 week
The gum flap should be kept elevated with sutures that crisscross over the the top of the extraction site (similar to tying the two sides of your sneakers closed with shoelaces).
I spoke to a physician and he said the same thing as another post here. The cheek is sutured to the gingiva to provide adequate blood supply to the extraction site.
Haha omg! same here
