I have the same symptoms except on the right side of my neck. I feel a small lump to the left of my right gland and its 5cm below my lymph node. Its so sore I can't really feel around too much. The pain radiates to my right ear and right side of my head; more so when whatever tendon(?) in my neck shifts and I feel a 'pop'. I have, lately, had some pain in the upper right portion of my back but I don't think it's related. Anyone have a diagnosis or updated information?

Different than a sore throat....I can touch the area on the right side of my neck (to the right of my adams apple) to make it more feel more sore. It started out as soreness in my jaw. Seeing the doctor on Monday. Any ideas what the heck this is?

wow. I have the same problem too. It has been like 10 years on and off. It will last sometimes days, weeks, or even hours then goes away. I have actually felt this thing lump what ever you want to call it and pushed it back. It seems like it moves towards the front of my left side of my throat and then if i open my mouth wide it is sooo painful. I too have no insurance so if anyone gets an answer to this problem please e-mail me. My name is Fay ****
Thanks, and good luck to everyone!!!!!

This is driving me mad. for 10 days i've had what feels like a deep briused spot deep in the right side of my neck. its fine for a few hours after waking up and gradually gets worse as the day progresses. I think it started when i thought i felt a weird popping when i turned my head. i then started poking around and its still sore. surely any bruising would have subsided by now? using the arnica pills and cream. much worse when i drink hot or cold drinks, food isn't a problem but swallowing my saliva can be painful. How does that work?! taking some omiprazole i had in case its acid related but don't really know what to do. GP just said don't drink hot and cold drinks which was hardly inspired advice. Any ideas guys?

The posts here sound similar to what I am experiencing. The only way i can describe it is a headache (or migraine) pain in my neck on the right side. It is also sore in that area when I turn my head. The headachy part is not constant, but when it happens, it lasts for about four or five days. Excedrin migraine or Advil helps, but when it wears off, the pain starts again. The headachy part of the pain feels almost like electrical zaps. When I relax, the pain seems to ease off. Sometimes I experience slight chills with it. Could it be a cold or sinuses, or could it be spinal or even a tooth problem. Can anyone else relate or give me feedback if they have experienced it? Thanks.

I’ve had a sore neck and throat on the left side recently. No problems eating, it just hurts when I apply pressure to my neck or turn my head. My left upper jaw also aches when I open my mouth very wide. A couple of weeks ago I had dental treatment and my jaw ached after the treatment which I thought was due to keeping my mouth open for an hour and a half.

An earlier poster was getting medical advice on his problem but unfortunately hasn’t posted back the result on here. Has anyone else had a professional evaluation?

In a way I'm kind of relieved to see so many people experiencing the same problem as I'm having. On the other hand it concerns me that some people have had this for years and still have no answer to what is going on!

It's been about 2 weeks for me, and it's driving me crazy. It's on the left side of my throat, about an inch under my jaw. It's not IN my throat, but more to the left of it. You can't feel or see anything. The best way I can describe it is about every 4 swallows it feels like I have a lump or a bone chip (yes weird) in the way. There is a poppling feeling almost. Sometimes if I press my finger firmly against the area, it prevents the popping lump feeling from happening when I swallow. There is no other pain....... no soar throat....... just something foreign feeling in my neck. If I clear my throat the vibrations irritate it.

I'm not one of those people that focuses on body ailments etc. I don't go to doctor, and I hate taking medicine. In short, I would normally ignore this until it goes away on it's own....... however, It is seriously the most annoying thing I've ever experienced. Not to mention I'm starting to get genuinely concerned. HELP.

This aching in my jaw, right where my lymph node should be comes and goes as it pleases.. The popping as you explained is the worst of it. It's driving me batwacky! I've had anxiety attacks because it worries me, I thought it was lymphoma, but I have no fever, itchiness or any other symptoms. It's ached all day long in my jaw, and I have gone to the doctor several times, with no diagnosis. They told me it was my sinuses, I took Ammox for 10 days, it stopped hurting. 2 days later, the aching is back. I've begun to think this is some type of stress that comes and goes. I will check back to see if you've found a cure or an actual diagnosis.

OK...I'm in the same boat will all of you. Except I've been to the doctor's a couple of times for it. The 1st time they say I have tonsilitis, 3 weeks later I go again and they say I have strep. Ok...my throat itself is not hurting. It's on the left side under my jaw line. Same thing when I push it it hurts like heck. My throat is really red all the time. I don't have fever, chills, aches nothing like that but I do have drainage. I also have one side of my nose collapsed. Deviated septom. I'm thinking about this all the time because I'm thinking there is something really wrong. I just got off of Augmentin for 10 days and it didn't go away. So I made an appt with an ENT for Tues. Last night I was up until 4:00 am because I was thinking that my tongue and airway was swelling. So I'm thinking about going to a ER Care today to have it looked at. I'm thinking if someone could do an X-ray or send a little camera down my throat it would solve the mystery. I'm taking my kids to Disney on Weds. and I want it resolved! By the way - does everyone still have their tonsils that's having this problem? I do....maybe it's time to have them yanked.

I have the same problems you guys are talking about and its disappointing to see no one has been able to get a clear diagnosis from it. I have tried the antibiotics and nothing seems to help. Some days its worse then others.. One question though. Do any of you smoke? I smoke some, lightly and try not inhaling much. Usually its just a pipe tobacco or sometimes a clove cig. I love the tastes and smells but this may have triggered something, not sure.

I had the same thing. Still get it, but less often. I noticed it all the time when I had problems with acid reflux. Went to EarNoseThroat specialist and he confirmed it was inflamation from acid reflux. Prescribed Zantac for acid reflux and 2 Advils 2 times a day for 10 days. He stressed that it was very important to take the Advil even if the pain is gone to get rid of the inflamation. I don't like taking medication so I took just 1 Advil a day and it still went away. Didn't come back for a long time and when it did, it would go away quickly.

My lump started out as a barely perceptible discomfort deep in the neck, and only when I slept with my head at a certain angle. Over the course of several months is got more noticible at more times of the day. It developed into a constant discomfort swallowing, and felt like there was a sore mass of tissue growing behind my tonsils.

My physician sent me to an ENT specialist who endoscoped me and didn't see any masses. Next, I had a barium swallow test that showed all the muscles in the neck functioning normally.

This whole time I was also under an unusual amount of stress in personal affairs. I was disappointed to hear my doctor pronounce "globus hystericus," but a search on the internet showed other people out there with nearly the exact same symptoms describing their recovery. That helped me accept that I had a common reaction to stress. It went away by itself about a month after my life stressors were resolved.
