I'm having these symptoms as well about a month after UTI. Did anyone figure out what it is or has it gone away on its own for any of you? I've changed my diet and eliminated alcohol and coffee. I'm just wondering how much longer I might have to deal with this. I am on Uribel, which I would recommend for anyone having urgency/frequency/pain. I will also say that this sensation started after taking cipro. Has anyone else had that experience?
Hi everyone,
I have been suffering from the same symptoms on and off for nearly three years now, however I have had it managed for almost a year now. My anxiety is finally wearing off and I am beginning to be a little more care free again when it comes to intercourse.
For me this started with one UTI 3 years ago, that went undiagnosed for 9 months. I went to several doctors, but since my UA's always came back negative they never prescribed me antibiotics. Finally I went to a Gyno Urologist who was able to culture the urine and find I had a bladder infection. I did the 3 day high dose antibiotics and then she put me on Nitrofuranatoin 50mg antibiotic to take after intercourse. Since longterm antibiotic consumption can lead to negative side effects I started to look for other options event though this worked well for me. I began taking D-Mannose powder twice a day (one teaspoon in 1/2 a cup of water) and an additional dose after intercourse. Then I also always have my low dose antibiotics for when I have a debilitating bladder infection.
Although I still have the occasional UTI, I am slowly becoming myself again and I have been able to reduce them to twice a year with little to no problems in between. You can buy D-Mannose on Amazon for 14.99 and it lasts about a month.
However, my low dose antibiotics have just recently failed me and I am open to other solutions if people have any because I would really like to feel human again, and not plan my life based on when I believe I will suffer from this. But in the meantime I hope this helps other people.
I would recommend the Uribel pill for some relief in the meantime as you figure out your antibiotics. Do you have any info on why your UA always came back negative? I am in the same position right now. I am convinced that I was suffering from an infection but three different cultures have now come back with no bacteria growth at all. My urogynecologist says it might be interstitial cystitis and she doesn't believe I ever had an infection in the first place, despite my first UA having blood, protein and leukocytes. I think it was an infection for sure because it came on the day after I had sex with husband but wasnt careful about peeing/showering after. I've only gotten UTIs in the past from sex. I have taken Cipro and Macrobid but still have the symptoms. If your doctor offered you a reason for why your urine cultures would come back negative for so long even though you had an infection i would love to hear it.
I have had the same thing and I was told it psas. You will ha e to Google it but please read and see if this helps cuz I have all the same symptoms and have never have a uti so I knew it wasn't that.
I would also recommend to limit antibiotic use if possible, besides creating super bugs and suppressing your immune system, they are extremely hard on the liver and cartilage in your body.
All - check out pelvic floor dysfunction. After visiting three doctors, having a Cytoscopy and all finding nothing wrong I tried pelvic floor physical therapy and am feeling much better. The muscle dysfunction can cause urinary symptoms or the feeling of urinary symptoms. There's a good article on Elle about this. Highly recommend anyone who has been dealing with this and not getting answers from doctors to look into physical therapy. It was a life saver for me.

If it's in your vaginal area it sounds like a yeast infection. They come on after rounds and rounds of antibiotics which kill good and bad bacteria, allowing yeast to run rampant in the vagina.
