Just ride it out since no one really knows what it really is. All I do no is I cant do anything sort of drug that would go up my nose i.e. flonase, since that I found accelerates the nerve. The worse part is after the jolt hits you just start really to think and get anxious over the fact that is this the big one. According to the nuerologist ibuprophen or head ache has no affect on shooting nerve pain like we all have mentioned. Ibuprophen 800 doesnt affect it one bit!
I'm 14 yrs. old, female and have the same pains. I get them every day all the time multiple times it started out coming a few times a month then had gotten much worse to every day pains. Before that i had sharp pains up my neck into my head then eventually they began jerking my head back. No i also have been getting dizzy lately, i thought maybe i have vertigo but i'm not sure. But would that make since for the stabbing pains in my head all the time and the shooting pains up my neck into my head sometimes causing me to cry from such immense pains. The pains that shoot up my neck into my head i've had for a long time, i'm not positive when i had first got them because i rember having them for years in elementry school and hiding from everyone until last year, i think when the stabbing pains began occuring in seventh grade, and in the eighth grade i got them more often until they just started happening every single day.
ahhhhhhhhh I have the same thing! It almosts makes you cringe like when someone pokes you and u try to move? my face does that after a sharp pain! only relief i get is my employees keep me stocked in ibprofin 800. Ive never had a headache last more then a day... this has been going on for 5
Did you find out the problem? I have the same thing. I never know when it'll hit me but it stops me from functioning with about five seconds of severe pain on one side of my head (sometimes left, sometimes right), above the ear.
so, what's the use of this website? people write in and complain about maladies and there is no response from a medical professional? what's the point. I have shooting pains in my head too. I'm dealing with it now with a cold beer.
I have the same kind of shooting headaches off and on just like yours. Right now as a matter of fact. I did have a MRI a few years ago and everything was just fine. My doctor hasnt named it anything but I don't tell her everytime it hurts because i don't want painpills unless its a have too case. I have found that taking 3 - 4 Tylenol 500mg. helps to lessen the pain. I record the pain and it will usually last a few days to even a few weeks. My pain starts behind my ear on my left side and travels up about 4 inches. Sometimes it hurts bad and yes it tingles sometimes. I think it is related to nerve endings. Not sure. I hope this helps you somewhat. I am a 47 year old female and healthy.
MIne are in the back of my head. Last only a fue seconds but it is so bad I just want to scream but I cant do ANYTHING when it happens. I have been to so many doctors and had brain scans. They dont have a clue. But it herts. Bad!
I've recently noticed sharp intermittent shooting pain on the left side of my forehead just behind my left eye. I also seem to have blurred vision. This just started a couple of days ago.
hey did u get the reason y did it happen
hey did u find the reason y did u occur with it
I'm over 70 and have had very similar pains since I was a teenager. The pain starts from a small bump behind my left ear and goes up my head a few inches. I describe it as like lightning. A flash for a split second. Then no lasting pain. I went to a local neurologist who described a nerve in that area (not a trigeminal nerve, something else) I'll be seeing him again in a month for another matter, Parkinson's) and ask for more information. When an attack hits I remove my eyeglass, as they press against the sensitive bump.
I had the same thing with the good Dr saying it was menopause stuff, But when I had an MRI done by anouther Dr it turns to be a 3mm brain aneurysm. Not saying that you have one, but menopause is not the only reason WOMEN get "SICK" nothing agenst men at least the good Dr does not blame everything on getting old or your body is all mixed up.
i have also this type of problem
I too suffer from this and it first strated happening to me six yearsm ago. My doctor th0ught it was hormomial and took me off birth control sure enough the pain stoped, but I aslo was pregnant. I'm sick right now body pains for at least a day, now ,amy in my thought. Nothing seems to be working for the painm
Mine started about 5yrs ago. Always on the right side at the temple and sometimes travels to the back of my head, ear, eye. I've been to the eye doctor and dentist....those aren't the cause. Over the years, I've come to think that it's my sinuses. When my sinuses start to act up, my left ear rings...almost always. At times, I get the shooting pains at the right temple and second intervals like everyone else. It's a big annoyance and sometimes the pain is so intense that I suddenly feel weak for a split second. But, I've been dealing with it and not doing much about it. Just waiting for them to stop. Good to see that I'm not the only one who is experiencing this.
