Sudden Loss of Vision In One Eye

Something happened to me and I am terrified! Today I lost vision in my left eye, without any warning sign. I have never suffered of eye pain or something like this, and I cannot believe this happened to me. I live alone and there is nobody I could ask to help me and say what is wrong. Should I run to the doctor, is there any reasonable cause for this condition?
I just lost full vision in my left eye fro about 5 minutes and covered my eye with my hand to keep all the darkness in it, cried and PRAYED to get my vision back. When my vision finally came back, I am able to fully see, as if I didn't lose any vision at all. I have a small headache forming at the back of my head, where the head and neck meet. I have been told this will happen due to migraines and have been told not to have any caffeine, chocolate or pop. I have had a lot of chocolate in the last few days (it is Christmas season!) and some tea yesterday. Going to an opthamologist is not necessary unless you are experiencing the issue during your appointment. They cannot see anything happening if you lost your vision and got it back already. They need to check your eyes while you lose your vision. I am hoping my GP was right about this as he was very wrong during my pregnancy and could've resulted with my losing my child had I not gone to to the hosp and delivered my child at 6 months.

I had a large solid light grey spot appear in my central vision (left eye only). The spot lasted about 40 minutes but stil having vision disturbances. I assumed it was a retinal migraine. Went to the eye doc today and turns out I had a retinal bleed with blood pooled in the back of the eye. Worth getting it checked out.

Of course you should go to the doctor.I had the same thing happen to me and waited to see if it would clear. Now I have permanent loss of vision in my right eye.Go to the doctor immediately because it can be something serious. My retina detached and they still don't know what caused it.But because I waited thinking work was more important and it might clear it got worse.I only waited 2 days but that was enough to do irreparable damage.I have lost complete vision in my right eye, don't ever wait when your vision is at risk.
I suddenly lost sight in my right eye. I find if tape the blind eye shut my overall sight is much better than with the cloud effect from my bad eye interfering. I hope you find this useful and can adapt to live as normal again.
I'm a 39 year old male, I lost the all the vision in my left eye for a few moments (less then a minuet) and regained it all back. I had a strike a year prior to that. still i waited a week before going to the Dr. turns out I had heart failure.
Go see a Dr. I too live alone and am not sure when I'm sick enough to go to Dr. but loosing your sigfht is pretty bad and deserves immediate attention. I'm lucky I'm alive and my sight is still healthy. but next time i may not be so lucky, especially after putting it off for a week.
Hi
Even I faced the same 5min loss of vision when I was standind in the streets for a long time.If you get any information please reply quickly.I am all right now but I do not know when it can strike again.
So... I lost vision in my left eye. I first didn't mind to much, since it happened to my mom and she got over it, her eyesight eventually returning. I mean, I thought it was temporary and natural for people who are as old as my mom, but it has been three weeks, about, and it's getting really annoying considering my hobbies- reading, writing, drawing, etc. Oh, by the way, i'm under eighteen, and as I check upon many diseases and illnesses pertaining to eyes, i find that the majority of them are related to an older age range and i'm sure that i'm not that old. I told a few people, but i'm not sure if it's serious or not. One case, that i believe, is dehydration, and i have started drinking a lot of water. I guess i also get frequent nose bleeds and i always feel drowsy. I don't do drugs, i'm underage -wouldn't do drugs even if i wasn't-, but i am around second hand smoke due to relatives smoking and such. I am also fairly overweight, 150 lb's at 5.0", so maybe an artery is clogged up? I'm just assuming at this point. Also i didn't totally loose my eyesight, it's just.. cloudy? blurry even, and i can't see colours, well, just barely. I also looked at my eyes and noticed a deformity, my left eye's pupil was oval, not the same circular shape of my right eye. My pupil was also .. not centered? So maybe I hit my head somewhere? Like the table next to my bed? I'm not so sure. I know that I should probably visit a doctor, but, i mean, it could be nothing... right? i dunno, i'm not sure what i should do. So, just waiting for advise here.

Okay, I've been sick for the past four days and hardly ate and I know that will be a cause of
Headaches. Today, I woke up with partial vision loss in my right eye. I'm slightly scared and
Wondering if I should do something.
I see your post is from a year ago, but I wanted to say I can understand and I hope you have found others who are helpful and encouraging with their words and deeds. I cannot imagine how hard that would be to get used to only having vision in one eye. I pray that you have been able to adjust and are back to doing the things you love!
what was the end result and why did it happen i am going threw the same thing and i am scared so if you could tell me any thing i would really appreciate it thank you mark
Mark, Hello, They do not know what is going on. I am supposed to be referred to an Opthalmologic Nuerologist. I thold my Retinal specialist I would go through whatever I have to in an effort to determine the cause and possibly prevent it. That is why I took a shot with this. Pleasee tell me about your eye condition. If nothing else, maybe we can support each other through this. It is a difficult thing. How old are you? Are you working still?
I have been reading everyones questions and responses with much intrest as this morning I lost vision in my right eye for about 10-15 min. and had the same thing so many meantioned, the white cloud...by time we got to the ER (it's Sunday so dr's are closed) it was back to normal except a light pressure that was painless..they ran blood work, did a EKG and checked my BP which was 156 over 73..they found nothing, the reason I went to the ER was because I have a heart attack from a blod clot after back surgery and 2 years ago I had an aneroysm behind my right eye that they put a pipeline in..before having my aneroysm repaired I would have blurred vision like looking through a childs kalideo scope..everything had like an ora around it and would last about 20 minutes and go away..has anyone else had this?? did any of you find out what/why this happened? my nero dr is suppose to call me tomarrow..thanks
hey Laura, I don't know you but I hope you're doing better... My mother lost eyesight in one eye too so I'm panicking.. In any case, I just wanted to say that there is nothing I can do to make you feel better but since you are an artist, the best way to deal with shit is by using it as material.. make ur weakness your strong point, paint like no two-eyed person can paint. All my best wishes. yasmine
Hey Carla, there's this website where they say something about kaleidoscope vision. As far as I undertood it's a sign of migraine.. hope it helps..
