Sudden Loss of Vision In One Eye

Something happened to me and I am terrified! Today I lost vision in my left eye, without any warning sign. I have never suffered of eye pain or something like this, and I cannot believe this happened to me. I live alone and there is nobody I could ask to help me and say what is wrong. Should I run to the doctor, is there any reasonable cause for this condition?

I have had several Ocular migraines, or so I am told that is what they are...but my sister has had a stroke in her eye and can no longer see out of that eye, and I am scared that I am headed in the same direction, but the eye doctor told me its just ocular migraines. My whole family has vascular issues and I recently was diagnosed with vascular migtraines, inter ear migraines, 8 minutes ago I loss total vision in my right eye and was scared it was NOT coming back, usually its just partial vision I lose, this time I lost entire vision in my right eye, so I feel like its getting worse, I can’t help but feel like this is something that is getting worse. How do you get the doctors to take you seriously?
A mini-stroke. Visit your doctor
Hi everyone! I had what started as an ocular (painless) migraine and when I woke up I had completely lost all vision in my right eye. Went to multiple doctors and my eye is amazingly healthy. CT scan showed absolutely nothing wrong. MRI scan is next but for time being they put me on some heavy duty cortisone treatment to help with any swelling of the optic nerve in my brain. Wish me luck everyone! I'm an artist myself and regardless of what happens I cannot let the bring me down. Best of luck and prayers to anyone in the same situation :)
I had a CRAO last December. Within 1 minute I lost all eyesight in one eye. Rushed to the ER, found out this is permanent-my retina was totally fried and there was damage to the optic nerve, too. I am a 71 year old male, with a history of atherosclerosis. I had a quadruple heart bypass 7 years ago. Along with other medicines, I am now on Plavix to control hypercoagubility.
laura, i would like to know how you are now. your post was from over a year ago and it sounded so incredibly dire - i'm hoping that you have found a way to move forward, either with or without your total vision. i'm an artist too, and your words moved me. give a shout.
I had 2 cataract surgeries over 10 years ago. @ months ago I lost all visiom in one eye with no pain and no other symptoms. Saw a cornea and a retina specialist and was told the problem may have been caused by the cataract operations of so long ago.. but they are not sure of the cause. They give me no hope of regaining the sight and seem to be able to do nothing for me. I wish I knew how to find the greatest eye doctor in the USA.. My fear is that it could happen to the remaining good eye and that would be blindness.
Just sitting and talking to a friend and a blackness came over my left eye. I lost vision for about 1 to 2 seconds. I had a tia 12 years ago. Are those two connected?
Hi, On October 5, 2020 I woke up and could only see halfway out of my right eye. I live alone so no one to help with any decisions as to what to do. I waited 4 days to ask my sister to take me to the ER. They took blood, checked inside both eyes and did an MRI. I seem to be okay. The optomologist told me to take a low dose aspirin every night. That has been over a year ago. I paid for a copy of the MRI to my address, but I can’t find a Doctor who can read one. I live in a small town in Ga. I can’t drive to Atlanta . Now a year later , I still knock things over, pour liquids out onto the counter by missing the coffee maker, cups, glasses, bowls…. etc…. Perception of depth is still off. Just this past August 2021, my sis took me to the eye Dr. in my small town. She said my cells in that eye are dead and I’ll never see again. With Jesus all things are possible. Plus eye doctors don’t know everything. But I have to say It makes you feel alone and depressed.
