It could also be caused from cervical spinal stenosis and bone spurs on your vertebrae or from a slipped disc in your cervical spine ( I have similar symptoms and this has been confirmed by MRI) surgery is being planned as we speak.
I was just looking up stuff in school, about diseases, (thinking of being a docter :-)) but i was reading somthing bout brain cancer and my arm suddenly got weak and heavy, i am hardly able to type right now. i can hardly use my right arm/ hand....should i be worried???
I began getting symptoms of sudden muscle fatigue starting in one arm and then quickly rushing through both arms, felt on the undersides mostly, happening very rapidly and lasting not more than perhaps 15 seconds where the muscles felt a kind of heat going through them and then i was left with the feeling of extreme fatigue, like I had just finished a set of lifting weights and the muscles were trying to recover. This happened to me on several occasions about 3 years ago, just before the onset of menopause. I decided that menopause must have been the reason for this strange symptom, which went away completely and didn't return until a few days ago. So now I am wondering if this is still menopause related ( I am still having hot flashes) or if there is something wrong. Alot of people have been describing similar feelings. I have no chest pain or chest symptoms, do not feel weak overall, or have to sit down, but the arm fatigue is so strange and engrossing, I have to stop what I'm doing to wait for it to pass. Then sometimes the muscles in my arm just feel kind of vaguely restless, in a very mild way.
I'm wondering if anyone else thinks this can be menopause related or knows of a good website for checking all the possible symptoms of menopause and muscle fatigue issues
For a few months now i've been experiencing a sudden throbbing pain and weakness in only one of my arms, although it only lasts a few seconds but over the space of about five or ten minutes I have absolutely no idea what it is but stops me in my tracks and I have to grab my arm. I'm not getting any other symptoms but am really curious to know why this happens.
I have also been having this sudden numbing in my shoulders and then it radiates into my arms and hands and makes my hands feel almost like they are partially paralyzed. I do think this has something to do with disc compression in the neck as I have this going on. I work on a computer pretty much 5 days a week and that is probably a contributing factor. It comes on suddenly and leaves suddenly and only lasts for a few minutes or probably seconds just feels like minutes. It scares me but I have not gone to the doctor with this. It hasn't happened fro about 6 months until yesterday at work again. I also think that stress in a major contributor because we just found out my husbands aunt with is battling Stage IV ovarian cancer is getting worse and that is a major stressor. Hope this helps some, but I don't know what it is but I am pretty sure it has to do with the discs or something pinched off in my neck.
This overwhelming muscle fatigue has recently plagued me as well. I am a 35 year old female. The sudden fatigue (it isn't pain or numbness) seems localized in the ribs under my arms and during an acute spell, I can feel it coming on throughout my shoulders into my elbows. It takes my breath away and I have to stop what I'm doing. Have any of you (who have posted here and experiencing been exposed to H1N1 or Lyme's Disease? I had H191 in 2009, and more than 10 ticks on me that same year. It's one of the avenues I'm pursuing. Also, my mother has Multiple Sclerosis, and I'm increasingly worried that this could be the origin.
I'm wondering if you ever found what the problem is. I've had 4 episodes of the same. It passes in 2 or 3 minutes and then I'm fine. I'm having an mri or the cervical spine and brain this week. I have no idea what's going on.
Low sodium is not the same as a sodium deficiency, in fact, one must take less sodium and drink more water with a sodium deficiency. Do not really underestand how that all works but both of my parents had low sodium and that was what their dr's said.
I recently have had this exact same situation as have been recently diagnosed with MS. MS needs to be diagnoised with a brain scan. I had complained to my dr. for a long time about strange things and he was shocked to have found MS markers when my scan was done. He had originally ordered it to comfirm if I have been having any strokes.
Thankfully I have been stroke free, first sign was vision issues and bp spikes for no reason.

MAGNESIUM!
I was experiencing very similar symptoms.... and then a random, migrating tingling sensation in y extremities also. This happened many years ago, and I saw a slew of doctors and specialists, many tests later including for MS, heart disease, MRI of my brain, and so on... finally saw a chiropractor and kinesiologist and after treatment the syptoms went away for 4 years. Recently they started again. I have since moved and can't go to the same miracle worker, but still have the remedy I was prescribed. After much research and trial and error, with a great heaping dose of magnesium the symptoms are again gone. I believe that I was extremely magnesium deficient. It worked for me!

I am a 53 year old menopasual woman also experiencing this strange problem. It started about a year ago and l have had maybe half a doznen epsisodes since then, which last maybe only 10 seconds and radiate down both arms simultaneously, rather like the immediate after affect of a tetanus job...a deep deep spreading ache that defies all description, and makes ones arms feel very weak. I find it quite scary when it happens, but so far have not mentioned it to anyone.
I work with my hands, and have some problems over the years with numbness in extremities, a bit of rsi, carpal tunnel and actually had arthritis in my thumb which was "cured" by acupuncture over a year ago. l have managed all these symptoms fairly successfully with yoga and acupuncture.
This new symptom however has me stumped, as c, who are experiencing it. I would not be surprised if it ia a menopausal symptom, as so many things are affected by changing hormone levels. I am also diabetic, but feel that is not the issue here.
I think the MS comments are a little bit scarey, but I tend to dismiss them, as i feel it is more likely, a nutritional or hormonal deficiency.
I know l am not adding anything new to this discussion, but felt it important to add my voice to the others here, in the hope that someone out there will take our symptoms seriously, and be able to tell us what on earth is going on ?!!

I am a 74 year old female and am so happy to find that I am am not alone with these symptoms. it started a few months ago and it feels as though molasses is being poured over my head and as it flows down iI lose all muscle controll of both arms. Only lasts a few seconds, but is very scary. I am way past menopause and very healthy and active for my age. This seems to be a female problem? can't tell if any of the replies are from men.
I am female and age 70. It just started with me this past year. Like you , I am way past menopause. So far I have been checked for heart, stroke possibilities, brain tumor and MS , have had the echo and stress tests. Dr. thought they had found the culprit- vasevagal syncope. Tilt test did not come up positive for that either. Now Dr. is saying to see a nuerologist. Guess that is next. Dr's all stressed that it is important to rule out the above possibilities .
For me, m y arms suddenly feel heavy and need to lie down-anywhere !! They last 3-5 minutes, but I feel tired afterwards.
I can feel it coming on as kind of a tingling feeling in arms. The "heaviness" is from the shoulders down-in both arms. It IS very scary!
