So I just came back from the doctor. All the tests came back normal. My white blood cell count is normal. He said I should still have t chest Xray and Ultrasound (not CT Scan) next week.
I'm so confused. I wish I knew what was wrong.
I'm so confused. I wish I knew what was wrong.
and so i had my biopsy at 630am today. everything went well and i was under day care at the hospital before they discharged me around late in the afternoon.
so doc had removed the swollen lymph nodes from neck and he will send it for some lab testing. so far doc ruled out TB and leukemia as both test came out negative. my white cells count is normal. but the lymphocytes count was high and neutrophils count was rather low (based on the test result that i took a fortnight ago). (do you guys experience this too?)
now i am just have to wait for the biopsy test result to come out, and its gonna take about a week or so. i m still feeling healthy, though a bit fuzzy from the GA that the doc prescribed to me earlier this morning. will let u guys know when the biopsy result came out.
not sure whether the doc was trying to comfort me or anything, but he did say in most cases, swollen lymph nodes turn out to be due to viral infection, and nothing serious.

Worriedguy,
I'm glad your biopsy went well and the tests for leukemia and TB were negative. Hopefully you'll get your results soon! My doctor didn't mention anything about lymphocytes or neutrophils. He just said my WBC was normal. He ordered a CBC so I'm assuming that includes the lymphocytes and neutrophils, at least I hope so. I now have a new symptom though where I feel a lump in my throat every time I swallow. It's really strange and I'm anxious for the ultrasound on Wednesday. I'll update with results as soon as I get them! Thanks for keeping us posted!

Well now I'm really worried. I have a beautiful 5yr old lil girl who was born with a noticably large lymph node the dr. Watched it but never seem really concerned because there was no change in size or pain not even when she would get sick, but in the last 2 months it has started growing and she is complaining of sever pain today she had a ultrasond on her neck where the lymph node is ....to be honest the wait is killing me I really don't know much about this she has never had any blood work for this or anything just this ultrasound .... what else should I ask the dr. To do o don't want to let anything slip through the cracks and regret it later any advise???? Anybody I'm a worried mother.... :-(
worried mother,
from my reading, i understand that its normal for kids to have swollen lymph nodes every now and then especially when they get sick or infected. thats just the normal way how the body and lymph nodes would react to infection. but then again i am not a doctor and maybe u shud get ur daughter checked by a doctor.
anyway, the doc who treated me says that painful swollen lymph nodes is probably due to minor infection and it is nothing to worry about. but its the painless lump that one should worry about.
if u r still anxious, ask the doc to run a full blood test. but not sure if its appropriate for the doc to carry out a biopsy on a 5 year old kid. my prayers are with ur daughter and ur family.

worriedguy...did your biopsy results come back yet? And guest....did the results come back on the ultrasound of your daughter?
I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts...

hey,
sorry for not posting earlier as i've been caught up with my job.
anyway yeah the result is already out. yet its still somewhat inconclusive.
here's what the result says: non specific reactive follicular hyperlasia in lymph node.
basically the doctor ruled out lymphoma as for now, but he wants to continue monitoring my progress to be fully sure that the lymph nodes will not develop into cancer. i did ask for a second opinion on this, and a doctor friend of mine said that the lymph nodes are not serious enough to be cancerous, but quite widespread and huge to be just as a result of viral infection. apparently there are also swollen lymph nodes in my abdomen and near my auxillary area. so the doc fears that this might develop into lymphoma later and wants to continue putting me under his care.

Hi
As a person who suffered something quite similar, im to suggest an answer but only to my knowledge of what i went through. I find doctors to be quite skeptical these days and they dont seem to outline the fact that we are exposed to chemicals on a regular basis through our everyday lives. They find a reason to prescribe a "cover up" and not a cure to our problems.
In my case, i woke up one day with a sore lymph node and on my left side ,three nodes that were enlarged and slightly painful. But only slightly annoyingly painful. This went on for about 2 years, coming and going. I thought it was my diet, or i had been infected with some form of disease, but after several doctors appointments and tests such as a biopsy, ultrasounds, cat scans blood tests, the doctor could only suggest that it was caused from depression or anxiety and prescribed anti-depressants. I knew straight away that they were WRONG! So i did a bit of research and found out that some chemicals could trigger enlarged nodes considering that our Lymph Node is a remover of chemicals, excess build up may cause enlargement. But i did not know this until i removed some from my life. I was a frequent spray tanner for 3 years, getting spray tans once every week or thereabouts. I never took any notice that once i had the tan done, my nodes were swollen the next day or so and uncomfortable. Sometimes it would be hard to swallow...and in the back of my mind, i thought it must have been cancer or something serious!
Then i realised what it was! As soon as i stopped the spray tanning, my neck went 100% back to normal! :-) No pain, no swelling...a miracle!
Some chemicals over a long period of time cause severe health problems, and unfortunately, these days, we arent exposed or made aware of this. It dosent hurt to do a little research so i suggest you find out what it is your exposed to everyday and cut it out of your life, even if you just try it for a month.

my problem is nearly the same as yours about 2 months ago i had a flu not any fever it was just a flu and a sore throat and after 1 day i noticed swelling in my right armpit and on the right side of my neck where lymph nodes are present during the flu my right nasal passage was obstructed but left was clear these swellings were not painful.i had an exam so i didnt saw any doctor for a month during that time i didnt had any fever or any symptom relating to lymphoma then i saw the doctor he gave me some medicine and after 10 days of its use the swelling in neck was not present but the one in the armpit is still present but the doctor told me it was because i had sinusitus and because of the my nodes are effected and the doctor said i was fine as i didnt had any thing out of order no weight loss no fever no sweats nothing but now its been two months and the swelling in the armpit is still present it is only painful when i touch it its a bit hard in the middle i suppose thats the node where it hurts otherwise if i dont touch it its ok i am only 17 years of age i am not a hypochondriac but please tell me what it could be
There are so many chemical reactions these days, whether they are present from using a new product or come further down the track, it is only then when we dont realise it could be from something simple such as our body care products.
Azka, find out what chemical your reacting to. Its something your doing everyday or on a regular basis, whether its chemicals such as sodium laureth sulfate in your body care products eg check your shampoo or to having excess heavy metals in your blood stream causing a reaction, if its under your armpit, it could be the deodorant your using containing aluminium or talc...just have a look in your bathroom and look at your products. Go to the health food shop and find something with less chemicals. NO ALUMINIUM..you can only try it...and if the lymph remains swollen, go to a natural therapies health practitioner. If it goes away, problem solved! Your only young. Get on it, before later down the track when you have serious problems such as cancers.
Hope i can help . Chezzy

I'm having similiar issues I started with a severe sore throat in July the ENT doctor dropped a scope down my throat said everything looked good; and gave me 10 days of Amoxicillin and everything cleared up. Then early September my sore throat returned along with a swollen left lymph node in my neck right under my chin, my left armpit and the crook of my left arm are swollen (my left ear always feel clogged I have to blow thru my nose to clear). Went to the doctor yesterday he couldn't find anything in regards to a cold; he said he couldn't feel anything out of the oridinary but he said he wanted me to have a CT scan with contrast. I'm very anixous due to the fact that my father died of throat cancer. Is there anything I maybe missing that I should be asking my doctor?
For the past month or so, my nodes in the armpits and groin swelled up pretty bad. They are extremely painful, and alot of times hurt to put my arms down. I just had a blood test for work and everything was fine. I'm hesitant to go to the doctor cause everythng they do is simply give an antibiotic that never works and then ask u to come back in.
An odd thing that just occured is my fiance as well just had the nodes in her armpit swell, just like mine. we are trying to figure out what it could be that is causing the swelling. outside toxins, something we've recently changed in our lives.
The only things that i've changed is i started drinking apple cider vinegar for my face. i know acv is supposed to flush toxins, but why would it cause a build of toxins that would cause my nodes to swell?
anyone have any ideas, please let me know...

Myself (40 yrs old) and my daughter (17 years old) have both been experiencing this evil thing!
I noticed a pain in my neck and one in my right groin area but no noticeable enlargement in hte gland but definate pain there.
This quickly went from just the two areas, to the both sides of my face feeling extremely tight and painful, gland pain under my chin, in front of my ears and around my throat and severe pain in both shoulders and heavy arms, the heaviness soon started in both legs as did the gland pain, a week later my daughter starts getting the same symptoms, i mean exactly the same, it stunned us both, I am now 8 weeks into it and she is into her 7th week.
The symptoms are as follows-
Gland pain that migrates, not always present in the same gland area but always present in atleast two areas, moves around alot and is like electric shocks.
1.Ear ache
2.Face pain (cheek and jaw area tight)
3.Heavy painful arms and legs
4.Vague stomach ache
5.Painful sensations in armpit area
6.This is a weird one, at night we get a cold sensation on the skin over each hip, it then starts to itch and then the skin goes numb and then an intense burning snesation covers the area, this is most nights
7.Headache and neckache
8.pain in rib area
9.Breathless
10.dizzy
11.dry mouth nose and eyes
12.Fatigue like I have never known in my entire life and my daughter hasnt ever felt this kind of fatigue either
13.constipation
14.restless sleep
no night sweats, no weight loss, no loss of appetite, its just so weird.
My doctor doesnt seem bothered when I went to see him
My daughter went to see him and they took blood two weeks ago and although our doctor has been in all week and the results were back he wont ring to discuss them for another two days!!!!!
Any help would be great, we are so worried!

Janeandgeorgia. I'm not sure about all of those symptoms you have been experiencing, but my fiance and I solved the mystery, and I wonder if alot of you on this forum are experiencing the same thing we are. We thought this entire time that it was a glands swollen in our armpits, groin, neck, etc. Then we started researching our body wash and all that good stuff to see if that could possibly cause this...with no luck.
We were at the end of the road. We thought we would go to the doctor, but at the last second, my fiance finds an article about this same issue. But the people in the article were not experiencing swollen glands, they were BOILS!! But how could we get boils?? we are both extremely clean, we shower a ton each day...we were discusted haha. As we started reading, we learned that boils are contagious, and they can easily be spread from location to location and person to person. That's why when u have these swollen, painful spots under your armpits, they usually come in pairs. Your arms are constantly rubbing and spreading it back and forth. We also realized we were using the same loofa!! her and i were washing these boils everyday with it, and then the other person used it, giving it to them. as one person started to heal, we got it again from the loofa! it was a never ending cycle.
So long story, short, we started using seperate wash cloths, used a different wash cloth and towel each time we showered, and did alot fo reading about prevention of boils. u need to keep a bandaid covering them to stop them from spreading. a hot wash cloth is good to bring them to the surface. i also used some apple cider vinegar on them and that seemed to really help the healing process.
Literally 7 days later, maggie and I were boil free, and no longer tormented by these painful lumps! I hope to god that this is what is affecting alot of you. We had this for years, and it's finalll over! so stop treating swollen glands, and start treating them as boils. this may work, or it may not.
i'll tell you what though, if a dr couldn't diagnose this over a year, it really hurts my opinion of "modern" medicine...no one should have to go through this...
good luck to you all, read about boils on web md, and start taking action! keep me posted, i hope this works for you!
