I have also gained weight since taking symbicort . 14 pounds in 6 weeks. There were no other changes to my meds. I exercise regularly. Symbicort is the only change in my lifestyle.

dI have too had the same problem... I have gained 30 lbs in the last year. It started when I switched to symbicort... I have never had asthma control like I do now, so it is a huge conflict in my opinion because increase weight causes other health problem.

Just because it hasn't happened to you does not mean it's not a side effect of symbicort. It means that it's not a side effect for YOU. I watch my weight very, very carefully and it usually stays stable within a pound or two. I exercise daily and am very conscientious about what I eat. My weight has been inching up -- s lowly, but noticeably -- the past week. It occurred to me to search the internet for info on symbicort. Lo and behold, weight gain has been experienced by numerous people who use symbicort. I stopped it this morning and will ask my doctor for something without that side effect. Again, just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it's not a side effect.

I have been on it for five years. Although it does a great job of controlling my asthma I have wondered about the same thing myself. I have never been an over eater nor a snacky person either. I am fairly active and frequently take my dogs for long walks. I have asked my doctor several times about weight gain as a side effect of symbicort. He has assured that it is not. I am not convinced.
