I smashed a plate into my rib about a month ago at work. It was a square platter, and i had it pressed against my side with the corner on my rib and walked into the door frame and it smashed right into my rib.
It bruised and all my veins raised to the surface..
Really hurts when I stretch or something
I keep rehurting it, and my veins are still all on the surface and it is very tender.
Should I get my ribs xrayed?

Hi there. Is it possible to crack a rib while doing hamstring curls in a prone position? while doing it, there was a pop feeling, really strange. The doctor has said that it is either a cracked rib or a muscle strain, there has been no bruising 2 weeks later and yet the pain is still quite bad. No X-rays were taken and no strapping was done.
A friend of mine picked me up from behind by grabing me around the chest. when he squezed he pulled in. it hurt at the time. I could not breath very well because of sharp pains in the middle of my chest or my sturnam. It has not gone away. I cant push on it with out pain. still have trouble breathing. and it hurts to to do like a sit up motion. Did I break something and should i go to a Doctor. :-(
I was quad riding and hit a rut that pushed me into the handlebars just at the bottom right of my rib cage. I have a good bruise to show for it and still three days later I have a sharp pain under my arm perpendicular to the impact.
Could this be a broken or cracked rib? The pain is when I twist or walk and a little on very deep breath.

I've got similar symptoms, if I laugh or cough I have a small sharp pain at the left hand side of my chest which goes under my armpit and reaches a small bit at the back. I'm a bit short of breath, not too badly, but I do have asthma. I was at the football yesterday and was jumping about like mad when we scored so I dunno if I got hit. Was also drinking last night, so I don't know if that has something to do with it?
I was at a punk show and got elbowed pretty hard in the jaw and ribs, the jaw felt fine after a week, but the ribs still hurt slightly. Until last night, that is, when I had a pretty violent coughing fit (picked up a chest cold) and I felt a sort of snap or pop right where my ribs hurt, now it hurts pretty severely. Cracked rib? maybe a torn muscle?

i got kicked in the chest a week or more ago im in real pain right side under breast bone .deep breathing hurts and most movements are really painfull.ive got granulado efervescente iburofeno wqhich dosent really help ..im getting panicky .i live in tenerife and dont hv insurance so cant visit hospital .just a bit of advice please

i got injured insoccer, slammed up against the wall...i can move but not very well. certain moves and i scream in pain. Did i crack a rib? I don't really want to go to the doctor. I guess whatever will heal.

I don't want to go to the hospital either, Although I have good insurance, I have had broken ribs before and I don't know if mine are broken or just cracked, I heard they hurt the same, and the pain is severe in both.
Is there anything to take besides painpills?..
I really need some relief, I am an eldery woman, and can take pain but this is so bad I just want to cry.

If you think you got a Broken Rib GO to the Doctor OR ER if it's broke it could be Jagged edge type fractured and if it close enought to the lung it could puncture the lung so Please seek medical fast. when i was young i got most my Ribs cracked & Fractured playing baseball and the Doctor told my Mom I need to be careful because 1 ribs was jagged and could puntcture the lung :'( .so Please be careful if u think you got a fractured Rib or Ribs. better to be on the safe side :-) . !
I fell on my side a couple days ago, and it hurts to press on it or breathe. is it a broken rib?
I am requiring about my friend. She fell against a fence while out walking her dog on 3-30-08. She won't go to the doctor. He prescribed Vicodin which she takes every four hours. It is extremely painful when she takes a deep breath or coughs. Now she has edema in her feet so he prescribed a diuretic. I am concerned because her doctor hasn't seen her and all he does is prescribe medications.
If she did in fact crack a rib how long does it take for the pain to subside? I am working on getting her in to her doctor but I know she won't go until she is able to move more freely without pain.

I was riding my horse on Saturday may 3,08 and i got thrown off and hit the ground pritty hard with my ribs. This is the 4th time i have fallen off on the side. I chipped my ribs before, but it was a big deal, than i brusied them pretty badly. My ribs feel a little swollen. But im not sure what that means. Please tell me...
About a week ago I was using the urinal at school and a buddy of mine pushed me from behind pretty hard as I was peeing and my chest hit right on a metal part a little bit to the right of the handle. It hit me right in the middle of my chest. It hurts to take deep breaths and hurts a little when I push on my chest. I couldnt even breathe when it happened and the pain hasnt gotten any better since it happened?
