I fell on my back onto a concrete floor in late December. pain when inhaling and coughing in left rib cage, had an Xray then, diagnosed as 'chest wall strain', no fracture. Pain subsided over 2-3 weeks. But IT'S BACK! and hurts worse than ever. May have been exacerbated by some exercise I was doing, but I was in NO PAIN at the time, and hadn't been for weeks.

Only hurts when inhaling or coughing. Walking, lifting, twisting, pressure/touch to ribs cause no discomfort. And does not hurt when lying down, can breathe normally when reclining.

I'm going to another doctor to evaluate next week, but - any insight as to what may be going on ? I'm a singer, and inhaling hurts! It was suggested by a chiropractor that an Xray could APPEAR as normal, but a bone could still be cracked. Opinion please? Thank you!

hi i just went to the doc today and have been told i have a cracked rib. i dont feel any major pain as yet but was told it is still to come over the next few days. the rib that is cracked is the lower right hand side most of the pain was when the doc pushed the rib. the reason for the cracked rib could be from a speedway crash 2 nights ago not real sure. what i am un sure of is why there is not much pain now??? and why it will kick in at a later time??

Hey
So last night I was hanging out with friends on some play ground equipment. I was on this sloped, wobbly bridge and I was leaning against the thick wood railing with my arm over it. One of my friends jumped onto the bridge and sent me flying because I wasn't paying attention, and i landed really hard against the corner of the wood (it was a square log). It hurt insanely at the time and at first I couldn't breath because it hurt, but then it faded and I was alright for the rest of the evening. Then after I got home and went to bed, my side was so sore it kept waking me up in them middle of the night when I rolled onto it, or laid on my stomach funny. Now this morning its quite painful. It aches a lot, and hurts somewhat to take a deep breath. If I twist funny It hurts a lot, and applying pressure to the side of my rib cage nearest my chest, causes a sharp pain in the middle of one of the ribs. Yet If I push on that rib it's not nearly as sore as that sharp pain. Is there a chance the rib is cracked, Or is it just badly bruised? There is no visible bruising on the skin.
Thanks.

I dont know if I cracked a rib or not. I cant remember doing anything that may have cracked or bruised my rib. Here are the symptoms. I find it difficult to breath. there is a lot of pain in my back where my ribs are located. it does not hurt to touch but it hurt to turn, twist or find a comfortable place to sit. If i lie still in my bed, I can tolerate the pain more easily. I helped my sister move and the pain is now worse. Can you tell me your opinion?

OK!! ALL OF YOU... IF YOU EVEN SUSPECT YOU HAVE A CRACKED OR BROKEN RIB GO TO THE E.R.....I fell and broke my rib... me and my daughter looked stuff up on line and oh! it said there's pretty much nothing they can do...wrapping is never used anymore because it causes pneumonia...well I suffered in excrutiating pain for 5days then finally went to the e.r.....they FREAKED out because my lung was collasped and suffocating my heart, my other lung and the rest of my major organs....one more day or even a few more hours and I would've been dead!!!....I had to get a chest tube and spend 3 days in the hospital....So all of you that can't twist, laugh, cough, breathe..normally...any one you could have a collasped lung and not know it....so don't let anyone!!!!!!!!!.....online try to diagnose you.....you need an x-ray plain and simple....don't be stupid like I was....I almost died....just buck it up and go to the e.r.....screw the bill you could DIE!! :-|

Hi - I believe I've cracked a rib(s) a little over a week ago. I tripped and fell onto a deck on my left side. I was in excrutiating pain. I couldn't even use my left arm, turn my head to the left, take deep breaths even bending over was killer. I know there isn't anything they can do other than pain killers and anti-inflamitories (which I have). Everything got better within a week. However, last evening I was bending over and sneezed. I felt like I had been shot in the left chest. Now I'm in pain all over again especially upper back just behind the lung. Is this something I should see a Dr. about now?

Hey what's up buddy, I just did this same exact thing to one or more
of my upper right ribs. Just today it started going through to my
back and your injury sounds similar. The funny thing is that it did
not hurt at all for a day or so and now seems to somehow be getting
just a tad worse by the day. I also dcnt currently have medical to
get this checked out either. Let me know how it goes

Hi there, I think that you really do need to make the investment to get it checked out. Although it would be inconvenient, i think you need to see someone as soon as possible just to make sure it isn't something more serious. Let me know when you go, okay?

Hi, my boyfriend has been having an irregular heartbeat, and in his chest area, its been hurting him a lot. He's been going to work and dealing, but lately its been out of control, when ever he bends down it hurts. He's been weight lifting a lot lately, and lays down on the floor to play on his computer, could that have anything to do with this pain? And any ideas on what it could be?

Hi, my boyfriend has been having what seems to be an irregular heartbeat for the past week or so. It hasn't been bothering him much, so he's just been dealing with it, going to work, getting on with his everyday life. Well today at work, he was feeling short of breath, and when he bent over, it felt like his chest was crackling. I was wondering if this has anything to do with his weight lifting (he's been bench pressing a lot lately) and the fact that he lays down on the ground to be on his computer. Any ideas on what this could be? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, the pain in your boyfriends chest is more than likely due to his irregula heartbeat which will need to be investigated. I suggest that when his heart rate is like this he goes to the hospital and gets a tracing done asap. This is something that needs medical attention. if necessary call an ambulance while it is happening

I think that would be a good idea--if you can't do that then ask for a monitor so they can figure out what the issue is. Let me know how it goes, okay? :)
