At 42 I have been very lucky to escape sore breasts from periods until the past year. Now understand what my friends described growing up. However in the past 3 weeks I have had a sharp pain in my left beast which catches my breath and wakes me in my sleep

I've researched the internet and felt readers may benefit from the main findings

It could be a small blockage or infection although the most common reason is hormone levels, regardless of age. Reduced caffeine, taking oil of primrose, certain types of pill etc can help.

However, the strongest advice is don't take a chance with your health - go to your GP and get a medical opinion. I'm booking an appointment this week. I think it will be nothing but better to safe than sorry (as my mother always says)

Doctors have seen and heard it all! Don't be ashamed or shy to give the doc ALL your symptoms! It helps to diagnose you correctly. I know it can be embarrassing at times, but be 100% honest and upfront then you can be more comfortable with your diagnosis as well. And it never hurts to get a second opinion if you aren't comfortable or satisfied with what one doc has told you! Good luck!

Hi I'am a 46 year old female. I also need some help. This past Friday, a friend and I were being silly. She carried me by grabbing me tight from under my armpit area (breast to breast), since she is much taller than me, she rose me off the floor and walked about 20 feet into the living room and released me on the couch. It hurt and bothered me so bad during that distance  I couldn't breath until she finally let go. The following day I felt soar and the discomfort and sharp pain has gradually increased. Last nigh I woke up to bad sharp strong pain and have difficulties taking full breaths. I took 2 Advil and had to sleep on my back with my arms stretched over my head to facilitate my breathing.  Today it is better, but Im afraid it will get worse tonight again. What should I do?

I'm 14 and I had this feeling that someone shot me or was pushing on my bones this morning. I think it's about the second time it's happened but the first time happened a year or two ago. I'm scared to get it checked by a doctor because I'm personal about my body.. What should I do

I have also been having a shooting pain in my right breast. I recently had a negative ultrasound and don't feel my doctor takes me seriously. I worry because my Grandmother had breast cancer, should I be concerned?

I also have been having shooting pain in my right breast to my arm pit and in my back I have had all kinds of tests and seen numerous dr. S about it and all they have come up with is that it could be because of to much lifting because I am a nurses aide and as far as my back pain I found out it is Asiatic nurve damage. I hope this could help someone who is asking but I also have anxiety seeing dr. S but I still go and everyone is different so I would suggest if you really do want easy relief try a cold cloth or and ice pack were the pain is and message the I do both when I have it and it helps the most.

I'm sorry my phone typed Asiatic nerve damage I meant to say siatica is what causes my back pain and for that I am now on medicine but for the breast and arm pit pain I use a cold pack and massage area after and that really helps. That takes all of the pain away sorry about the other Message my phone had auto correct on it and I took it off so it would make sense.

I'm sorry my phone had auto correct on it and some things didn't make sense. I too have right breast, arm pit, and back pain. I have seen many docters and many tests done. None of them could give me an answer except that I did find out I have Siatica and that is what causes my back pain as far as my right breast pain and arm pit pain it could be from to much lifting because I am a nurses aide and we lift alot of people up in bed. I take medicine for my back now ibprofin 800 and as far as my right breast and arm pit pain I use an ice pack on it and massage were the pain is until its gone and usually it only takes ten minutes of that and the pain is gone. I hope this helps someone anxiety about there pain but everyone is different so if it doesn't help I'm sorry too. And good luck on your adventure on finding out what helps you. But I really do hope that this helps someone. Also I really recommend continuing to see a doctor and rule everything out. It really eased my mind when I finally did find out (and I have anxiety about seeing doctors I no I work with them but seeing one about myself just gets me worked up but I knew it was important so I still continued to seek relief and finally got it).

Hi everyone,

So I'm 25 years old and have 2 kids a 6 year old and a 5 week old. I have been having sharp shooting pains for a while but I've never thought anything of it until now. Since I'm still on maternity leave I have been taking advantage and breastfeeding all that I can before returning but every now and then while my baby is latched on the pain worsens. I don't feel anything hard in any of my breasts but I really don't know what this could from...

Does anyone have any ideas or have gone through the same or even similar situation?

I believe that all of you out there are having dislovated and / or pinched nerves in your mid back and they must be reset soonest as it will get worst. Only a verry few specialist are knowlageable in resetting those nerves. I know as I am one of them in Canada.

Someone posted a few months back a suggestion of not wearing bras with underwire, as they tend to cut off circulation of the ducts in your breasts. I have had this pain for over three years now. I have had ultrasounds, biopsys, they found a fibroadnoma, which is really nothing. But nothing has stopped the pain. Doctors have no idea of what it could be. Well, I decided to try not wearing an underwire bra, and I have not had pain for 3 days now. Not sure if that is the answer, but it sure seems worth a try.
