Did you end up getting tattoos over your SM? I am thinking of doing that but don't know whether it's safe or not.
Google search nadiclinic.
I haven't got the time yet. Search Nadiclinic. you can visit their page on fb /nadiclinic

Hi,
Was wondering how much it cost to get your cysts removed by each Doctor? Glad to have found some names of doctors who have dealt with this in Singapore.
Thanks

Hi, I'm new here and came across this thread while looking up SM info online. Is there any way for me to contact you through email or send you a message, as I can't seem to find the place where you can send other members/users a private message?
I'm very interested in reaching out to the 2 doctors you mentioned - Dr Jonathan Lee and Dr Lim Kar Seng. Could you share with me their contact info please?

Hi guys , i have read a article there a treatment called gefitinib treatment. it successfully removed all SM from a guys , base on Beijing research. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3937749/#__sec3title
Have you had any updates?
I was diagnosed 2 months ago in a non-hereditary case of SM.
I had first noticed them around the age of 18yrs old (5yrs ago) but thought it was only a small rash.
Now I've been monitoring my status very closely and have visited several dermatologists & one medical institution in the means of treatment.
I'm 23 and currently (in order of greatest to least affected) my forearms, biceps, deltoids, sternum area, are affected.
I had received my 1st treatment via smooth beam laser on a 6" length surface area on one of my arms & will be receiving vein hook surgery in November of this year (2016).
The laser had reduced the cysts targeted on my arm by 50 to 75% (only about 15 were targeted).
That was the result only from the first half of the treatment after 1 month's observation. The healing process took also took 1 month too. During that time it left some blisters that turned into temporary bruises in the areas targeted, but again, after that 1 month they had reduced in size & noticeability. The second laser pass would help to smoothen pigmentation I believe. I had not received that yet.
The vein hook surgery I'm seeking (from what I've heard & seen from before & after pictures online) seems good for removing larger lesions or areas the cysts have frequented. The surgery is minimally invasive & is performed after numbing of the skin. The procedure has been reported successful in removing up to 100 cysts in one session at about 1 minute per cyst removal. It requires at least a 1 week recovery without getting the operated area wet (as in via a shower for example); I've scheduled to get that performed in November as I said above. The results have been reported to last from 1 - 2 years, I'm assuming per cyst removed.
My long-term goal is to try to find a way to manage the condition, partially via routine visits to surgical dermatologists I'm establishing a relationship with as well as via other methods too that i'm exploring. I don't expect my entire body to be "clear" of this condition but for now I am confident that certain areas can be managed better than others.
There is definitely still hope I believe;
Even though stem-cell, gene, and oligonucleotide therapy are out of reach for now, the short term methods may bring satisfaction to those affected with this...especially if they could be routinized.
I would imagine each routine will vary per experience with the condition, but I'd like to hear more feedback.
Mine has predominantly affected my arms for now, and for my condition to "visibly" have gotten to the point it's at now, that took more than 4.5 years. Most people don't notice at all since I wear long-sleeves now mostly, so it's normally very well hidden. Even in Summer months I choose to wear breathable clothing (designer-wear & casual) to compensate for covering my arms...covering them isn't entirely necessary either as they are not grotesque, but just personally unsightly. It's about confidence I believe. People still think and act around me in a way as a very attractive individual, and even though there are imperfections in our skin with this condition stay strong, persistent, innovative, and strategic in ways how to manage it with professional consultation.
I believe that staying ahead of the rate of cyst growth in the areas of the skin affected could help maintain its appearance from just a few cysts to very few at all for months, a year, or more in those specific areas afflicted.
I'd like to hear any feedback anyone, and stay positive, I feel very confident that it's possible to manage this condition.
