I have the same issue with my hands. No Dr's can tell me what it is. I look on line and all you get, is. Could be this or that.
I am 53 and my fingers started hurting at the tips then pressure on the finger nails on the thumbs and first two fingers. I was told a nerve disorder .
Have nail and finger problems, peeling and underneath nails hard, have tried everything, what can I do?
I have the same symptoms on my fingers. My rheumatologist did an elisa test and found out it is an autoimmune disease called crest and scleroderma.
You could ask doctor for an ANA test which can determine if it's an autoimmune disorder.
Two of my daughters experienced this after being sick with flus that developed into respiratory infections. They were put on prednisolone and amoxicillin. Side effects of prednisolone are dry and peeling skin. Side effects of amoxicillin are dry, peeling, blistering, and loosening skin. Baths to soak the dead skin away and coconut oil takes care of this harmless aftermath in about a week.
I also have this problem, I've found that lotions and oils make the problem worse. I struggled with this for some time. The best things i've found are Hydrocortizone and Vaseline. Vaseline has less liquid and protects the peeling skin so it can heal. Also the dermitologist gave me some steroid cream that accelerated healing. However, mostly when this happens I just add vaseline every couple hours and it goes away on it's own. I've also found that the shower is where this happens so if I have a flaire up showering with a rubber glove ( use a rubber band on your wrist so that water doesn't get in) prevents the problem from getting worse.
I believe you describe the condition of my thumbs perfectly. Only mine did not start until I was 61 and now I'm 62. This is the second round of it. At first I thought it was a result of some cleaner. I already take fish & flax seed oil. What cured it the first time was to religiously apply shea butter and cover with masking tape. Didn't think they'd ever be normal again, but they were fine for a few months. Now it's back. I have tried wearing gloves at night with the shea butter, but seems I pull them off in my sleep.
P.S. I'm the same guest as above. I am wondering if there are parasites under the skin causing this. The only reason this occurs to me is because I have see head lice being eradicated simply by using hair conditioner with a covering at night: it smothers the critters. Maybe the shea butter with masking tape also smothers some sort of critters that have burrowed under the skin. Just brainstorming here.
I've had a full blood panel ran by my primary doctor and a dermatologist, all of which came back in normal range. My fingers started to crack then peel down (partially due to me picking), upon looking at the top side of my finger beds my dermatologist was considered about an autoimmune disorder. Once everything came back normal, the resident thought it was due to smoking, however my actually MD said it was most likely just a contributing factor. After 2 weeks of a topical and oral steroid, I am typering off of both, using Vaseline and cotton gloves over night and Eurcrisa once daily. The doctor says the loops on the upper side of my hands is improving but still seems puzzled as to what may have triggered it.
Go to a doctor if your having a problem. Don’t ask random people for cures.
Doctors don't seem to know either. They always "treat" and experiment; but root causes are not the way medicine is practiced in the USA today because the pharmaceutical companies need to keep making lots of money in order to own our Legislature. Also the CDC has patents and that is a source of money too. Doctors can help sometimes. But very often they are not so healthy either.
Zinc seems to help
