Happens yo me the day after I get my nails done. Like right now I am itching and practically biting my fingers off. I've been getting gel for years and never had a problem. Im wondering if there is a new chemical in the product or something. Either way its super annoying

I too have been getting my nails done for over 20 years, and for the last few months My cuticles swell and get very itchy!!! It's Horrible... I removed them for 2months And decided to put them back on this weekend and it happend again... I too believe there's a bad product in the market cause it's cheaper!

I having the same problem... had my fill in yesterday this morning my cuticles are swollen and itchy. sometimes it takes over a week to get them cleared up... for the price we pay to have nice nails, don't know if the discomfort is worth it... I wish I knew exactly what the cause of this discomfort is and how to stop it of course with out removing the nails..

This is exactly what has been happening to me !!! Apart from I do my nails myself and have done for a while. I have a gel polish (shellac) including a UV lamp which I do my own nails with. Have done for quite some time and never had any problems. I suddenly started having this strange reaction exactly like you've described which I found quite frustrating as I'd never had a reaction from the polish in the past and did not want to stop having them done !! What your saying makes sense !! It seems like a mini sunburn on the end of my fingers. Tender, itchy and actually a little red. All I can think is perhaps the bulbs in the lamp need replacing every so often. This will be the first thing I try, second thing I might give a go is a teeny tiny bit of sun cream. Sounds daft but if it's going to protect the skin on my fingers and stop this awful itching then I'm willing to give it a go. Hope you find some way of getting around it too :)

I gotten the same thing but this will help all you have to do is put some original Vaseline all over your fingers and cuticle areas then u keep on putting it on until you won't feel the itchy spot anymore it will cool itself down believe me it will help

Hi im also suffering from itchy fingers. Ive had my acrylics removed and some gel nail polish on top of my natural nails.... so far no itching. Just wonder now whether to carry on with gel or give up all together (I don't want my nails to fall off). I changed salons but when I explained why I wanted my acrylics off they had never heard of someone with ichy nails, should salons be aware of this? I was always noticing that the previous salon always got the lotion over my fingers. Any suggestions?

I have the same thing, only difference I do my own nails. It is non of the products. Most likely some of the tools weren't sterilised properly OR the cut around the nails of the dead skin was too deep and the cleaning products at home caused the reaction. It happened to my mom and she doesn't get any nails done other than the traditional nail polish at home once in a while. i personally believe I've cut too deep this time and the cleaning products at work (disinfectant etc) cause this reaction because I also have a few inside my palm.

Reaction just gets worse not better, take them off before you get blisters under your real nails like I did

i used gel nails for years but started developing an allergy which started with itchy fingers and ended after pressing on with blisters under my own nails appearing, apparently it can be an allergy to the primer, try an acid free primer or move to acrylics, but sad to say I just tried supernails acrylic system and i developed the same allergy, have to try and find out now if there is a different ingredient in this system, usually it's the primer so check that first

Same thing is happening to me :(
what did you do about it?

I have itchy fingers after gel or acrylic for the first two days. I think it may be the primer they use on my nails so the the acrylic adheres. This time, the manicurist was very careful not to let the primer get on my skin and I washed my hands as soon as she was done before polish and afterwards. My fingers do not itch at all. Hopefully, this is the solution for me. good luck.

I agree with what your saying, I've had same issue for months now, I definetly believe it's the UV light that causes it. It's extremely painful and the swelling causes a lot of discomfort!

I have been having the same problem. I usually experience itchiness and redness for a couple of days after getting my nails done. I noticed that this problem became worse and I would get blisters when I started doing my nails myself using the sensationail kit. At first I thought this problem was from soaking off the polish. Then I realized it must be from the LED lamp. I started wrapping my fingers in tape to protect them from the light and it actually seemed to help although I'm not able to completely protect them with the tape. I think that my at-home LED lamp is either stronger than the one they use all day long at the nail salon, or it's just cheap. I didn't think this reaction could happen with an LED lamp but I guess it can. I hope it's not dangerous.
