Hi guys just want to ask, can tonsils grow back? I had mine removed 2 weeks ago cause of tonsil stones. I dont want my tonsils to grow back! I dont want to have second surgery!!!!!
July 2013 or 2014 was the surgery if I recall correctly. Tonsils did not grow back. No more stinky breath. Would do it over again. Absolutely.
Thank you so much for this information! I am 45 years old and I will be going for a tonsillectomy in two weeks. I've had the same exact condition as you've experienced. I can't take it anymore! Bad breath is horrible! I brush floss gargle . I've tried every over the counter product possible. Nothing works! Mucus in my throut every morning. I use my tongue scapper religiously. I've had tonsil stones for years. Everyday they are there. I'm looking in my throut several times a day trying to pick them out. They stink!!!! OMG! I wonder what people think of me when i talk to them. I try to stay as far from them as I can. I've had a chronic ear ache for over a year. My doc said its coming from my right tonsil. I have a huge pus sack hanging on the end of it right now. You want to talk about gross!! My left one has a small pus sack. If i use a toothbrush and push on the tonsils white chucks come out. It looks like pieces of hard boiled egg. It smells awful! I am so ready to have them out! I am worried about the pain and not being able to eat. I am a meat and potatoes girl. I do eat a lot. I am thin considering the way I eat. But I'm very active. Sitting around and not being able to eat is going to drive me nuts!!! Thanks again for the great advice!
Hi, I know this post was a year ago. I'm on my 6 days of my tonsillectomy and I still have a horrible BB. Did yours cured after you get healed? thanks!
Hi, did you BB during recovery? Im on my day 6 and I still have horrible BB. Thanks!
Hi, I'm on my day 6 s/p tonsillectomy and it was not bad than what I was expected. Just force your self to drink and eat. Be sure you have humidifier, it helps me a lot. I took a nap and I did not turn the humidifier on and I woke up with pain and really dried throat. I turned it on and after a minute my saliva was flowing. and also be sure to have ice pack, it helps me tremendously. My only worry is I am on my 6 days and I still have horrible BB. I am hoping it will go away.
I just got approved to have my tonsils out for the same reasons. I'm really glad to have come across this. I can't really prepare for the pain but I can be excited about having good breath again!!!!
Thank you so much for this, I'm on day 6 and feeling hopeless; this was just the boost I need, this is so reassuring, thank you
Thanks so much ! Your post encouraged me to get the Sx! You were very detailed and I loved that ! Thank you so much for taking out the time to write this incredible post !
I'm day 15 post op. My advice - go ahead and get it done. Sure it hurts, I ain't gonna lie but you WILL survive. Contrary to some things I read online it is not worse than childbirth! Nor is it white-knuckle pain/amputating your own limb type pain.
Get some good painkillers from the doctor, 2 weeks off work and drink water like it is going out of fashion.

You have helped ME so much in deciding, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I kept reading stories about the horrible pain, and then different stories about it being "worth it" but nobody was actually combining the two or Laying out what to expect. Thank you thank you thank you!!
I just got a tonsillectomy. Im on day 9 recovery. The pain was the worst day 2/3 and it has stayed relatively the same since day 3. I also had a deviated septum repair. It was tough because I couldnt breathe through my nose when I was sleeping. This caused my mouth/throat to dry out at night, especially with the fan on. This was the worst part. Turn the fan off!! i woke up every hour with a dry throat and tremendous pain. Good news is, after the splints came out yesterday I can now smell and everything is much more flavorful than it ever was! I'm so happy I no longer have go deal with tonsil stones, I was at the point that I was digging at my throat daily. I'd say it was definitely worth it. I don't have to deal with that for the rest of my life- or worry about strep. Yahooooo! :)
I'm having my tonsils out in two weeks. This guide was wonderful, terrifying and realistic. I'm so scared.
Thank you for writing this. I'm a 25 year old woman suffering the exact same thing. It's awful and I have seen an .e.n.t. twice, who referred me to another e.n.t whom I see in a month, to discuss a tonsillectomy. I know it's a rough recovery but so worth it long run. Glad I'm not the only one!
