That sounds like you contracted Chlamydia to me. Especially if the discharge is of an orange colored mucus.

Hi everyone,

My condition has improved but is still there. My theory is now 100% that this is related to problems with the gut flora. I've now met several doctors and done several tests, including measuring the strength of the sphincter muscles as the latest one. That test came back normal. The doctor said my sphincter is strong and fine, no problems there. Her conclusion was that given all tests look normal then this has been caused by the antibiotics I took. Basically, the doctor thinks the antibiotics knocked out my gut flora, which in term changed the consistency of feces, making it harder to empty the bowel, leaving some behind. So essentially she sais that the new bacteria and microbiota in my gut makes bowel movement difficult. This makes completely sense to me as well.

Her recommendation is to continue with phyllium husk and fibre supplements (which I am taking twice a day) and do a do-it-yourself water enema when problems are difficult (she gave me the tools for this to take home).

So, how do you cure a broken microbiota? I've been researching this like crazy. Probiotics are clearly one way, but according to my doctor you need to take so much of them that it's hard. The doctor said I would need to drink 2 litres of probiotic yogurt in a day to have an effect. That sounds strange but anyway that's what she said. So I've been looking at other solutions and one that seems to gain in popularity and that is subject to a number of scientific studies is a fecal transplant. Yes that's right. Strange but actually being done. Basically, the idea is to transplant microbiota from a health individual to a non-healthy one (usually with IBS). I applied to participate in two scientific studies on this but was declined as I have not had a diagnosis of IBS of a doctor. Having the problems we have here is not enough to take part in a study yet. Hopefully, as results come along this is something we can try. The thought of having a bomb of good bacteria "implanted" into you currently sounds very appealing to me, and I guess to all of you here given the terrible problems we all have.

My problems are less than before but still there. Maybe better because of the phyllium husk and fibre, probably. Still searching for a cure. Will think twice about taking antibiotics again for sure.

The orange stuff reminds me of a story I read about eating a fish called (I think) orange roughy, which has an unusually high oil or fat content and led to anal leakage much like you describe. Did you have an unusual (and delicious) fish dish recently?

I had discharge from anus about half hour after bowel movement - also a very annoying accompanying itch which would pretty much ruin my day - this had been happening for past six months or so - 43 year old male btw.
Anyway, I read a bunch of stuff online and concluded it was a yeast based prob in my gut - I took on a diet similar to the candida diet and within days the prob was gone - I have never been so happy!!! - My diet was basically this: cut out all sugar literally - anything with sugar was a no-no ... also cut out breads and wheat based products and cut out alcohol. Eat meats, green veg (cabbage, kale, spinach, brussel sprouts etc - avoiding potatoes, rice and starchy veg). I'd cook meat (chicken, turkey, beef, salmon) in coconut oil as this is great for the gut. Other ok foods include eggs, salad, yogurt (but just avoid added sugar - it's really all about sugar!!!) and oat based cereal. I'm addicted to coffee so I didn't change that habit (and thankfully it seems to be ok). Coconut milk is a good addition to diet too, but again avoid the added sugar stuff (which unfortunately does taste much much nicer). If you like, you can add probiotics into your diet (I can't recommend good or bad. I get Kroger's own brand little capsules). Keep to the sugar-free, bread-free, alcohol-free diet strictly for say a week (I got awful headaches day two but they didn't come back after that) and you should see a huge improvement. Personally I have never felt better. Not only has the discharge and the itch gone (which was the aim of my experiment) but I also feel less bloated, less tired and more focussed in general. Give it a shot. I miss the sweet treats, but not as much as I miss the misery of wiping clean all the time. I really hope this helps people, as I was being made miserable by the condition and I now feel I've got a whole new life!!

I know this is thread is over a year old now.
I came to this site looking for an answer to the same problem.

After a bowel movement and wiping (to all intents & purpose, I wiped properly) regardless of time of day, I would experience extreme itching, pain & swelling within an hour or two of going to the toilet. This led me to believe that I was suffering from haemorrhoids and/or fissures.

I tried all types of creams and ointments to no avail. I've had a couple of colonoscopys with nothing being found.

One time, I was so itchy inside my anus that I sat on the toilet, pushed toilet paper up inside to scratch and found my anal cavity still had faecal matter inside.
Using a few sheets of paper soon cleared it and I was more comfortable in that area.

Since that time, the only way I can prevent pain & suffering in that area is to follow that procedure after every bowel movement. Of course, wipes are a far more gentle alternative to paper.

This has been a problem for over 40 years for me and it's only in the last 10 years that I found a solution that I can use.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any answers to this issue anywhere, medically or otherwise.

It's not the most comfortable of remedies, but it sure beats the alternative.

Hello, I totally understand what you are going through. I am not a doctor, but suffering these symptoms of leakage, and used to have bleeding which seems to have gone now, but now the leakage still occurring. To sort out the bleeding I just started drinking more water, turmeric, better eating habits, anything that can cleanse me out on the inside. Ginger tea, lemon water etc. However my leakage is pretty bad yes when I walk too, it is very embarrassing. On the antibiotics, I took them for 7 months due to constant infections in my throat and sickness, this was over 2 years ago. Yes I agree that these antibiotics can kill off something healthy in the digestive system!!! As my symptoms were more obvious after the antibiotics and other health factors!!!! Another thing I found out is that coconut products, sauerkraut, yoghurt etc. can help too with a leaky gut kinda symptoms. Try this, I am going to start doing this and seeing how I go. I used coconut oil to cook my eggs and onions, coconut milk is good. I hope this helps and that all goes well with you. Tanya from Sydney ps. It may take some time and patience too to handle, which is why it is so frustrating too especially when you go to work, how many times one can go to the bathroom!!!!!

Hey - hope you have some luck - I've been enjoying great results. A couple of things to add to my original post. (1) Drink loads of water ... unfortunately when I upped my fibre intake through eating loads of green veg (broccoli, kale, cabbage, etc) I didn't drink enough water and actually ended up constipated initially - (which was the last thing I expected, but a lot of fibre with not enough water can actually do that to you!! and (2) Drink some Kefir everyday ... it's the business when it comes to probiotics .. I hadn't even heard of it until I started looking into this whole area but it's very beneficial. Main thing though is eat as little sugar as is physically possible and cut right down on refined carbs (white bread, white rice etc) ... hope this helps too.

I have had exactly the same condition for 15 years now. Anal leakage for a few hours after a bowel movement requiring constant trips to the loo to clean up. Anal suppositories do help but no one has given me any reason as to why I have this problem. I have just learned to manage it. At least I am not alone.
