" fecal incontinence"

For me, the problem started immediately after a course of antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin). After several exams including colonoscopy the conclusion from the medical expertise (I've met up towards ten different doctors) is that the antibiotics have disrupted my microbiota, causing a change in consistence which makes bowel movements incomplete. The fact that there is still some left is what causes the leakage. I'm trying to restore my microbiota. That's the path I'm going. It's been 2 years now since I took the antibiotics.

These is what I currently do to keep the symptoms under control:

- I eat a tablespoon of Phyllium Husk in the morning and another one in the evening, mixed with water + an additional glass of water.
- When I'm in a bad state, I use a very simple water enema that one of the doctors gave me after examining me. Just use it with water to flush clean inside. Not very pleasant but afterwards I can feel confident that no leakage will occur (it doesn't).

The problem for me (it can be different for others) is proven to be 1) caused by change in consistence of feces and 2) the change in consistency was caused by antibiotics killing my microbiota.

Whatever bacteria is roaming down there is causing this problem. I've ordered a kit from uBiome to get an analysis. There's a lot of research into the microbiome, fecal transplants etc. Hopefully the near future will bring the medical field to a place where we can fix this. I volunteered for a research study on fecal transplants but was denied as I don't have a diagnosis of IBS.

Doctors have examined me to confirm there is no mechanical problem with my sphincter. The problem lies in the microbiota. Just think of it if you've experienced different smell, gas and overall just a different kind of poop. That's where the problem lies. Phyllium Husk and water enema give you control of it. You can just use it and control the leakage. I recommend it. But that just cures the symptoms. To cure the underlying cause we need to restore our microbiota.

32 with leaky b hole, it doesnt seem to matter what time of day. Im tired of my "taint", "grundle" or whatever you want to call the area between my butt hole and balls itching. I have to sometimes wear a "manpon" to prevent mess, because if you dont know already, a mess is 2 lbs of poo in a 1lb bag. It did seem to get worse after coffee. I have regular looking poops 2 - 4 times a day, which is excessive but I've always dooked alot. How do I keep from wearing a "manpon"?

You have a yeast infection of the colon. Try the Renew Life products, and cut all simple and complex carbs from your diet permanently. Good luck.

Do you know which topical cream?

Has anyone here done tests for fat malabsorbtion? I'm thinking maybe the problem could be related to fatty stools which makes it hard to do a complete bowel movement, causing the leakage. Problems with bile or enzyme production could cause this. Does any of you notice your stool to be fatty when the problems are worse? Could also explain the 'wet' feeling.

Had colonscopy. Just diverculitos found, the benign kind. Explained about leak in anus, that I had to wipe for hours and had to give up hillwalking as it was too sore. Consultant just saId I was to eat fibre. Ignored it as just a throway bland remark. Big mistake. Came across this site. Yesterday I bought a tub of psyllium powder. Just one and a half teaspoons of it and next day have a next to dry butt after wiping. It's a miracle. I always thought of health food supplements as quackery. I just had one griggly bit the size of a seed right in the centre of the anus after about four hours of being clean.can live with that gods. I bargain like that lately as I was in such misery. Will continue with the psyllium and will also try that fancy pants named probiotic beginning with an s, can't remember the name. Sac....something.Tried to get calmoseptine via amazon but it is unavailable in UK.
Any alternatives ?Brits out there.local chemists have not a scoobie about this wonder cream. But I am so glkad I came across this site.

I suffer same problem. My proctologist told me to change me diet, which made no sense to me. What I recently found out was taking a stool softener and a miralax type product was making my stool soft and mushy. I was told to stop those and eat more fiber. So I ve been taking a psyllium whole husk fiber product. It's early yet but it seems to be helping.

You don't have to just manage it unless you've tried powdered psyllium husk. Give it a go-

Hi jl your symptoms are exactly the same as mine. It's improved my mental arithmetic seeing as I calculate how long its been since my last bm and gauge if enough time has passed and I can have my shower - usually about four hours - then I can guarantee I'm totally Clean. Or if a mate calls up unexpectedly and asks if I wanna go hillwalking, my anus is the fat controller regarding whether I can say yeah okay like I used to do at the drop of a hat before this leakage made it's appearance. I can only say yes if I know 4 hours have passed. Sometimes I say, after three hours since a bm, yeah it'll be okay I'll chance having my shower early. Only to check ten minutes after the shower evidence of the familiar brow excressence on the toilet paper. Then I have to be obedient to this affliction and wait till my 4 hours are up. The consequences of walking anywhere without my arse being "done" is a red raw scratching burning hell. Or at least it was till I took your advice viv a his the psyllium powder. I get the occasional light smudge now and then but nothing, just nothing like the way it used to be. So I know you are not a fan of probiotics but I'm giving a bowel specific probiotic go in the hope of doing a belts and braces job ,just to polish off the trace kf smudge i'm still left with if i'm particularly active. However, the miracle is I am now indeed active after years and years of despairing with this - thanks again psyllium powder. Will let you know if the probiotics add value to my self-medication regime or not.
Meanwhile to anybody just coming across this site for the first time - three days ago I was like you is just about round the twist with it.

I had the problem with stool coming out a few minutes to hours after a bowel movement. Fortunately, this went away after I gave myself an enema. It worked. I think that's because you're cleaning your intestines and there's no stool there waiting to come down. Hope that helps you as it helped me. So glad this isn't a permanent thing.
