yea ,well females should have to leave out the room for a male patients,,,but female patients get more respect then males do....

I agree and think that medical people should have the same standards. Male patients have it worst because they usually have all female nurses.

That person clearly has no idea about operations, the clinical team in them all wear hospital scrubs that are fresh sterile and clean when they enter the OR on top of that they then have a second layer that has been cleaned sterilised and sealed in a sterile pack that doesn't get opened untill it's needed. Some people need to stop watching staged hospital programs on TV and believing that's how real ones work!

There is good reason why patients are naked except for the sterile drapes and that is to cut the risks of infections from bacteria that could be on there clothing!

You should not get a catheterized with out your consent, it has lots of complications. I did wear underwear given to me by the admitting nurse for a recent tkr in Boston 2019.

Talk sense!
How can't you give consent for emergency catheterization when your under anesthesia?

Are you still around babs? When and when did the incident with the underwear and tonsillectomy. Similar incident for me about 1965 in or near Kansas City. Similar reaction from my Mom - That never happened. Dreaming.

I'd ask the doctor or the place the surgery will be done because the decision to prohibit underwear or panties could be more of the institution's policy than a hard-fast rule.

Sure there can be exceptions if the female is menstruating.  No reputable person will say, "you have to use a tampon because it's your time of the month."

We know that our nudity does not faze YOU. We don’t care about how YOU feel. We, the patients care about OUR feelings. And being fully naked on operating room table is highly disturbing for US. So, if it’s not absolutely necessary, then we’d like to avoid it.

Wow! Good for you standing up for yourself! I just hate the way patients are treated like toddlers by medical personnel.

That seems amazing... back surgery and you were allowed to keep underwear on. And others have to take it off for knee surgery?

I don’t know why they don’t mention colonoscopy shorts. They would ease so many people’s anxieties. They plain old don’t care plus are too cheap to spend .25 cents for a pair.

I totally agree! I’m tired of hearing these nurses say, we’ve seen thousands of naked bodies, we aren’t at all bothered. Hey, we don’t care about how YOU feel. It’s our anxieties that we are concerned with.

That makes no sense at all. From what I read, patients only rarely need Foley’s during a 2, 3 or 4 hour surgery. Something about the body automatically not urinating it’s defecating while under anesthesia.

It’s not that we are bothered being naked. I sleep nude, I love being naked with my good looking, lean and muscular husband and having sex. It’s an equal situation.
Being naked on operating room table, while unconscious, with all sorts of people walking in and out with no regard to you as a human being, that annoys me. It’s as though you are a nothing. Leaving you exposed without a care in the world, regarding how long or who sees. Even the janitor can come in to get the trash. How is he sterile? Give me a break,

If that’s true, that is criminal. These doctors and nurses need a taste of their own medicine. Turn the tables on them.
