Hi everybody,

This is scary to me, but at least now I know I'm not alone. This fast forward thing was just happened again few days ago. When I'm preparing my food, cutting vegetables. Suddenly my brain works sooo fast...feels like zzzzzzzzztttt....feels like you've being fast forwarded. I feels like my movement were veryyy slooooww...like you're in slow motion. I panicked little bit but I have to be calm because I realize i have a knive in my hand. So I just keep praying and take a deep breath few times. And it's gone after 2-3-4 minutes I'm not sure.

I hope we can find out what is that.

Thank you.

Yeah I just experience it and google to see if anyone knows what it's called, but sad that know one has a name for it yet. I've read on other forms on this that some think its derealization, Aiws and something with vertigo. It feels like my brain starts to race and it feels like everything is going in fast motion. When I talk, somebody is talking, music is playing or when I walk it feels like everything is going in fast motion like everything is being extremely rushed. Or sometimes the other way around.

I have had similar experiences as almost all of you as well. The most intense moments would occur when I was relaxing or thinking really hard/frustrated, and mostly between the ages of 7 and 12. It would often happen during tests at school. Things (including myself) would appear to be moving fast or people would be talking quickly; my fingers would feel thick to the touch, but would look normal; the room would become large, or I would become small.

I discussed this feeling with my mother, who is an experienced nurse, and she dismissed it as being caused by hormones. She never seemed too concerned either. One time it happened when she was home and she looked into my eyes to see if it may be something similar to a seziure, but there was no change in my pupils so she just dismissed it. I am now 24 and I only experience this feeling maybe twice a year, but it used to occur at least once a month.

I think its funny that most of us refer to it as the "fast feeling".

Ive had this for a while already. I had the fast forward feeling when im in an extremely stressed out state. Suddenly everything around me would be a lot faster, sounds would be louder. My movements on the other hand would be in super slow motion. Weird but i got used to it..id experiment on movements (e.g dance, do jumping jacks) but i just end up looking silly. lol. been researching but havent read anything that explains this.

hmm me too. Since I was a kid and I am now 34. Just had it happen again last night, for about 4-5 minutes just as I was getting ready for bed. And just like nothing, poof, it was gone. Not sure what it is, what its called or if its associated with anything. I did suffer a concussion as a child, but who knows. Its very strange and nobody knows what I am talking about when I describe it.

this is crazy... I just went through this an hour ago. I woke up to clean the tub and it was like everything was moving fast... I could feel it, but not see what I was feeling. I'm 15... Its only happened two other times in my life and I was a child then. Thing is, when this happens, noone can touch me. If someone even approaches me it feels like they are attacking me. When I was younger I described my parents as ninjas sent to kill me, when they were just trying to hold me and calm me down. My mom I making me a doctors appointment, so if I find out anything, ill be sure to pass on the info.

I get this after a nightmare but once I have the nightmare (a couple of days ago) I get this feeling constantly for about a week, I haven't experienced this in a while but I am currently trying to explain to my mum what it is and I can't find the worlds to explain (I'm 15 years old)

I get this about twice a year, I'm 20 now and it was more frequent when I was younger. I find that I usually get it in the mornings and I always assumed it was to do with coming out of a REM cycle at the wrong time so you've just come out of deep sleep and you're not properly alert so your brain compensates by working too fast. This is just an idea, not particularly scientific. It always makes me feel like what I imagine paranoia would feel like, like every sound is very close to you and that you're on edge constantly. Hopefully I'll find a scientific reason for this, I study psychology so I'm quite interested in what causes it. But I don't think it's anything particularly harmful.

i just had one and looked up AIWS and its says it might be due to a tumor so i guess that would explain why it might be that but im not sure if i should see a doctor...?

I am having one right now!!!!!  You described it in such a way that I could have never done...  Thank you!!!  I may be able to actually describe it to my doctor now in a new way that she may understand....  :)  My "speeding voices" as I call it (Alhtough it is ALOT more than just the voices), started when I was about 8 during a camp in Florida.  I don't get them as often or as long anymore, but that first one really scared me, especially since I was away from home.  My doctor said it may have something to do with my blood sugar level, but it happens so randomly (before, after, and during my meals).......  Thank you for your great explanation.....  I really want to get a diagnosis......!!!!!!
